  1. Point well taken Jeff. Quality and passion. You can't take that kind of attitude unless you are truely passionate about what you do. That is what drives the majority of people in this industry. I know my goal is to exceed the expectations of my clients everytime. It maybe a bit on the ambitious side but, to me quality is what makes me able to be in this industry and not be so concerned with competing pricewise. I will have it no other way. It is refreshing to hear that others share the same passion as I do in the quality of their work. One question for those who did buy these molds....has anyone contacted them directly about the problem? I'd be interested to hear what was said by them. TIA
  2. I read the reviews on the WSP website about it, can you tell me if it is really sticky like some of the reviews have said? I do plan on getting a sample but was just curious as to what some other opinions are of this product. TIA
  3. :laugh2: :laugh2: Alrighty then.... :laugh2: :laugh2:
  4. I like Boys are Mean....I don't know why but I just do. It's totally Grumpy Girl style for sure but it's different.
  5. I looked on FOF for a fo. Moon Glow is out of stock and WSP's version is missing the apple component. I mean its nice but just not what I am used to. I've read another post where TCS Dried Apple Wreath was discussed. Can anyone tell me if it is close to the scent I am looking for? Autumn Wreath is balsam, cedar leaf, apple, clove, cinnamon & vanilla I think:confused: . In the TCS scent description, vanilla is not mentioned so I thought I'd ask. This is my favorite holiday scent and I refuse to go you know where to get it.
  6. Thanks everyone for answering. I was just shocked to see them for a buck I understand its not really a value...not that I would have bought them.
  7. Not that experienced but thought I'd share...I use Perfumer's alcohol, FCO, cylcomethicone, dimethicone and fragrance. I did use water but of course the silicones and water don't like each other it kept seperating. After 6 failed attempts at eliminating alcohol, I gave up.
  8. Princess Sweetheart Sweetie Sweetie Pie Little One-I have a glitter this name for my 'little' clients Little Miss ETS: I was going to post Girlie Girl...I like that one too!
  9. I hear it from some of mine too. Not candles but nails so it not just this industry. They tell me all the time oh I wish you did not charge so much. But to that I say, well your nails are falling off in 2 weeks and barely any polish left. Mine can hang for about a month and I always have all my polish when its time for me to do them again. "You get what you pay for!" And yes those jars were recalled 2 Christmas' ago because they were overwicked I do believe. The reports were that the jars were exploding. $1 or $15....$1 or my house? Don't know about you but I'll take the $15 candle made by someone who cares and keep my house thanks!
  10. I don't own one of these molds BUT when I asked a question regarding mold recommendations, one of the first pm's that came my way was not to use Mr. DoRight Molds due to the quality of the molds not being what they used to be. I can see, as an outsider never having used the molds, both sides of this. No we should not be 'trashing' the hostess but at the same time, there were specific instructions given by what has been said that weren't followed and therefore alot of people in that co op lost money on a defective mold....possibly to apease one person who wanted to save on shipping. There is however a lesson for everyone to learn....an expensive one both monetarily and in credibility. And that would be follow the manufacturer's instructions. When things are handcrafted it is really difficult to replicate the same thing over and over again. This was probably the reason for the instruction not the disassemble because this moldmaker probably knew the parts were not interchangeable. The lesson for him would be to make that known. These lessons, no matter how painful they can be, are why these forums are so great.
  11. I usually walk on by myself. I don't buy cheap candles anymore since I used some cheap pillars from Target for my fireplace. I needed 8 of them and did not have time to order them like I normally would I needed them for a dinner party as I did not want to keep running to tend to the fire. Well it took my son and I 2 days to get all the wax out of the darn thing...it melted everywhere. Now I just keep plenty extras on hand. I don't buy cheap candles anymore. Reading about them here is one thing but to see in person...I had never seen masons that cheap before. I was stunned.
  12. Very pretty! Thanks for sharing! I especially like the Gingerbread Wreath and the chunk pillars.
  13. Very girlie! I love girlie. I like the candy bar look too!
  14. I was just at my local grocery store where there were 4 oz mason jars for sale 10/$10! Of course, none of them were consistent AND it had the wick size on them CD12 was on the shelf description. My pic of the label is not that great, I wish it was better so you could see it. Of the 10 I looked at only three had wicks centered correctly. Some had really noticeable fill lines (almost looked like wood grain) and some had these weird looking white specks like trapped between the glass and the wax....what's that? For you chandlers who have been in the game for a while, can you tell me how this is possible? Are they getting these jar for $.02 each or what?
  15. I want some of this one too! My goodness they sure are purty!
  16. I have always wanted to learn to sew. My cousin is a seamstress but she lives too far away...she makes the most exquisite wedding dresses. My Mom was a pretty good sewer too but she said I was hopeless and I should just stick to cooking and crafts that did not involve bobbins and needles! Your purse is really pretty. I wish I could do that.
  17. I've never used either of these. I'll have to look them up and do some research. Thanks for the info!!!
  18. Meridith, whats TRO & CKO? I've never seen these abbreviations before.
  19. Yes, you must heat your distilled water to 176 degrees and hold at that temperature for 20 mins. This to make sure you kill all bacteria if any is present so that it does not grow in your finished product. Although I can never get 176 so I heat to 190 and hold there.
  20. THAT'S IT! I am buying my soaping supplies this week! Very, very nice work....and I agree....don't stay hidden your work is simply marvelous dahlin'!
  21. Yes Vanilla Bean Noel tested out of the stratosphere along with Tropical Punch. VBN is a very comforting and sexy scent all at the same time. Whenever I put it on my daughter, I just want to bite her....very yummy!!!!!!!
  22. You are quite welcome!!! With SOS, I neglected to mention, I bought 100 dram samples but I only bought like 5-8 oz scents (extreme) total from them only because I was told that oob is not always the best way to judge a scent. Only 2 of those 5 are winners. My next step is to put these samples in 1/8 oz samples and see what they smell like. I will post those results as well. Another thing I noticed between Peaks/WSP and SOS is that Peaks/WSP blend much easier that SOS. When making body oils it took forever to mix, like 5 minutes but the other two mixed in seconds. I had to put SOS fo's in my stand mixer on high to get them to mix in faster than using my SB.
  23. Pay her no attention and continue on with your business. Don't let her get to you and DO NOT lower your prices to apease anyone! You charge what YOU think your product is worth and not what your customers demand. Delivery on $1.50 now that's just taking things a bit far.
