  2. Its the law, you have to. What if someone has a fire or has a child ingest it? If you don't want that info out there, the solution is to have a commercial building. Period. If you get caught not having this info, there is a hefty fine AND they shut you down. Alternative? None.
  3. I use Bitter Creeks liquids and that is all I have ever used. I love them but like everyone I think you love what you use Mineral Oil will thin them if they thicken. Reds tend to do that the most. As for how to make brown. Green and Red. Yup! That simple

    Pop Colorants

There were only two colors that were not CP stable but that is not why they don't carry them any longer. The manufacturer they purchased them from is no longer in business and they can not get them at all.
  5. This is who makes the rusty Tin Tiques Stars: http://www.dccgifts.com/index.html
  6. I am not sure how anyone answered this, she never said what wax she was using. A wide mouth mason is 3.5" so really not too small for two wicks. What wax are you using?
  7. IGI 941 has been 2281 for years and the 5766 hasn't been that since about 2000, that is now 6006. The 2743....did you mean 2243? You are kind of comparing apples to oranges. What kind of wax do you want specifically? A single pour? two pour? paraffin, para soy? 2281 is a scale wax, 2243 is a fully refined paraffin and 6006 is a single pour parasoy.
  8. What is most interesting really is that almost all olive oil is made in Spain from Spanish olives and exported to Italy for canning/bottling and export. Almost no olive oil is actually made in Italy.
  9. I am sure like most craft houses their product varies by availability and the cost. I am sure it is likely a low density however it may be an imported item from China and I would say probably not as safe as a Penreco gel. I'd be more likely to bite the bullet and order from a reputable supply house a gel and gel specific scents rather than waste my money buying from Hobby Lobby.
  10. In that diameter I'd use a 60-44-18z wick. The 51 will be too small.
  11. The problem may be that heavier fo's don't mix well in any wax. How much are you adding to what amount of wax and are you weighing the wax and fo on a scale? Also specifically what scents.
  12. Really? IGI failed at wax making? Really?
  13. All the research in the world doesn't make it so. Testing is the ONLY way to know if your wick is right. Obviously if it isn't burning, the wick isn't right. My guess, your wick is too small.
  14. FDA regulations do not govern soap at all. CPSC does. cpsc.gov
  15. You can also emboss the paper stock. It looks really cool! That also gives it a texture vs. blank area.
  16. Ok, well that is your belief. However, I think you may want to consult with someone with a bit more expertise on the subject. My information has come from both Honeywell's Astor Wax division when it was still intact, Dussek Campbell and of course IGI. But what would they know, they only manufactured candle waxes.
  17. I honestly have rarely had issues with dye creating problems with my wicks. But then I always test my candles with the dye which can create variables. What wax specifically are you using now? What series and size wick and what jar? Maybe I can help ya out from there better. I use Powders, Blocks, Chips and liquids myself. Flakes are just too darn hard to measure! LOL
  18. I am not sure where you got your information but ALL candles need to cure. Period. A very minimum of 24 hours to cure paraffin wax itself and the scent can take up to two weeks. I've done this for almost 20 years and worked inside a supply house for 12. Every expert in the industry will tell you the same. No candle needs no cure. The other thing is there was no mention of how long that candle had been burning. If you let a candle go long enough, most will melt and look right. As for candle nose, I agree with that. It happens!
  19. That could be some of it. Some scents will take two weeks to totally cure. Plus less than 24 hours and the wicking may be acting different anyway. I'd probably give them a few more days at least.
  20. How long are you curing your candles before your first burn and how many hours does it take to get a complete melt? Typically in a 4" jar people use two 51-32-18z wicks which are closer to a CD 6 or 8 in a 4" jar with 223. I think you are under wicking. Glass WILL be hot. But if your melt isn't hot enough, or deep enough your scent will not be good. Scent comes from melted wax and nothing more or less. I'd try two 6's personally.
  21. Anyone tested any that smell like the real deal? I am hopelessly addicted to that scent and er....since I don't NEED lotion I feel like I am wasting a ton of $ on a $25 every few months. Thanks!
  22. Then they have something far different than the ones I have been to. None of those have had such a thing. They also don't sell them online. I eat all organics, so I guarantee you that isn't true. I've been working on the inside of the personal care and candle industry for about 11 years and as a candle and soap maker for about 15. I am fairly certain I know enough about chemicals.
  23. Show me specifically what cream. All their stuff I've seen has plenty of preservation. Parabens are some of the worst. Theirs are loaded with them. They may have sold some years ago but I've been in tons of lush stores and never noticed a fridge. Basin on the other hand. Yes they have them and their product isn't preserved enough if at all but Lush has proper preservation in every face cream I read
  24. Lush most certainly does use preservatives. I've bought a lot from there over the years. Here are a few of their ingredients lists: Shower Gel: It's Raining Men Honey (Mel) , Rosehip , Lotus Flower and Tiger Lily Infusion (Rosa canina, Nelumbo nucifera and Lilium tigrinum) , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Sodium Cocoamphoacetate , Water (Aqua) , Perfume , Propylene Glycol , Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus Dulcis) , Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia) , Titanium Dioxide , *Limonene , *Linalool , Benzyl Benzoate , Methylparaben Methylparaben is the preservative in this Body Lotion: Crème Anglaise Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) , Saffron Infusion (Crocus sativis) , Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) , Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) , Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii) , Glycerine , Stearic Acid , Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia) , Myrrh Resinoid (Commiphora myrrha) , Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis) , Triethanolamine , Perfume , Cetearyl Alcohol , Benzyl Salicylate , Coumarin , *Eugenol , *Limonene , *Linalool , Methylparaben , Propylparaben Methylparaben and Propylparaben are the two in this lotion This is info right from their site.
