I love making things. Specifically anything that has to do with mixing ingredients together. My first love has been cooking, but now I'm moving on to soap making.

I don't like anything "country" except country music. I also prefer flower scents over food scents. I also don't like anything overly sweet smelling.

  1. thanks everyone! It sure has been fun!! Maybe one day I'll be able to make my soaps as pretty as some I've seen on here.
  2. Wondering if you make only soap, only candles, or both. Thanks!
  3. Just wondering how many people do both? For me, I have no interested in doing candles, so that made me wonder what everyone else did.
  4. the pink one is grapefruit colored with, I think, alkanet root powder. The second is Goats milk scented with eucalyptus and spearmint.
  5. and is there a document i can read regarding the FDA regulations?
  6. No worries, BlackTie! LOL I'm glad Chuck came along b/c I never could have answered your question!
  7. I'm wondering how many bars of soap a 1 lb recipe should make. Mine average about 5 bars and they are pretty good sized bars.... 3.5 x 2 x 1 and they average out to be about 4.5oz bars. BUT I saw a really nice slab mold that is for 3 lb's of soap but it only make 9 bars! What am I missing?
  8. What qualities does it bring to the soaping party?
  9. what qualities does yogurt bring to the soap making party?
  10. Jewls, I saw on another soap forum a recipe for a turpentine stain stick! I want to try it just because it sounds so... odd!
  11. oh, I"m sorry! The video I referenced is for GM lotion.
  12. thank you. You've all given me great ideas!
  13. well, the little town I live in doesn't have anyone selling handmade soaps. So I guess I"m looking for the "tried and true" Blacktieaffair, what city are you in? Can I take a day trip to Aztec and smell their scents? I would SO do that!
  14. thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I found out to late how expensive this hobby is. I've spent probably $200 just to get started and that's without buying hardly any dyes, fragrances or a mold! But I'm hooked now! PS Saying a prayer for your marine on this memorial day!
