  2. Maybe get a receipt book that lets you have carbon copies and staple a copy of their receipt onto their bag - whoever shows you the original receipt that matches gets the bag

  4. "This is not a lye by-product made in someones kitchen." Well it ISN'T! It's a lye by-product made in someones lab.

  7. no not confused at all here - that is very interesting thanks bruce
  8. One of the topics in the Candlemaking thread in the Tips and FAQ Database section at the top of the main page covers this - Here's the link to it What information must legally be on my candle labels before I can sell them?
  9. Had an idea when i read this - Get some eye hooks or even cheap cup hooks from the hardware section of WalMart and screw them into the bottom of the candle Use clear fishing line and tie it thru the hook or onto the cuphook and tie the other end anything you can comeup with that is heavy enough to be a weight yet waterproof Don't tie it too short or it of course would pull the candle under lol I would tie it a little long and giive it room to drift and let it move a bit
  10. as everyone else said - very nice color and texture May I ask for more details please? wax/scent/wick?
  11. The witch hazel-distilled water room spray I have seen also has Polysorbate 20 in an equal amount as the FO - Is this the same one or do you not have to add the poly 20?
  12. See - I told you I loved it down there! LOL Got so excited just think about it that I typed before I even finished reading LOL Have been going down to N.O. all my life (We lived there till I was 5 and all my life we would go down for at least a week and visit friends - When I was old enough to stop going down with my parents I was old enough to go down with friends and REALLY have a good time lol)
  13. The Cafe Dumond (sp) Down at the French Market - Oh how I love New Awlins'!!!!!!!!
  14. On the old board there was a thread on a TV special or something showing Yankee actually making candles and it was the extrusion process - Well - I didn't see the show, just read about it here but that's what those here who saw it were saying anyway lol
  15. I just recently read an article in the paper about this and was really surprised! I couldn't remember the exact figure though so I googled a bit and came up with a site with a lot of info - After reading here I remembered this exact line being in the article I read "Every year, about 20,000 pets are lost, hurt or killed traveling on planes." And now to get back to the orginal thread - (Sorry about highjacking it) Been so long since I have flown I can't help as far as carrying them but I think since they were gifts I would have boxed them just as if you had sold them to someone and shipped them to myself at wherever you were going to be staying
  16. Of course you can also tab them yourself in any length you want
  17. OK - am sooooo jealous that I can't swing any of the conferences or get-togethers this year BUT - just as soon as anyone hears of any definate dates for NEXT year please let me know so I can begin planning (and saving!) for them? I am looking to go to at least two next year - Right now am thinking of the Texas conference since it is close enough to me to drive over and at least one other that I will probably fly in for - I just have to see the dates and kinda plan for them in advance - Getting a few days off work here and there is no problem (except on my paycheck lol) as long as I know about it a month or so in advance so as to let them know not to put me on the next month's schedule for those dates TIA
  18. ughhhh! NOT fun at all! Don't you just hate learning from your mistakes!
  19. Had a couple of hours drive both coming and going on my recent little trip and had to keep what everyone laughingly refers to as my mind occupied so naturally I thought quite a bit about candles - came up with a couple of things I wanted to ask - First on UV Inhibitor - When you pour candles for testing purposes do you have to add UV also or can you leave it out to save a bit of $ and just add it after all testing is done? I have never read anywhere where it affects anything except fading. And do you add UV to your jar candles? And next - What would you say "Shelf Life" is on candles before they are burned? - I know they can fade even using UV but down the road do you start losing fragrance or have any other changes?
