  1. With my Eco8 I am getting about 1/2" full MP at about 2 1/2 hours. I cannot smell anything unless I burn my nose hairs. Cold throw just smells like a crayon, non existant. So do I go with the 6 (medium container) or the 10 (large container (3 - 3 1/4) or keep uping the amount of FO? Dawn
  2. Stella, Temper worked, I found what I was looking for. Search did not find what I was looking for using tempering. Thanks. Dawn
  3. I looked through all the posts that came up. I did not see one that explained how to do this, unless I missed it somewhere. Whatever link that is you posted, it has no matches. Dawn
  4. I did a search on tempering but didn't find how to do this. I stir my wax quite a bit when I add the color and the FO. I stir it a few times during the cool down process waiting for it to eiither hit close to 100 or starts to get too slushy to pour. I am using caramel apple from BCN and cannot smell anything using 1 1/2 oz of FO. I am getting what another posters son called "crayon smell". Dawn
  5. We use a dehumidifer in our basement and that is the coolest place I can find close to 75 degrees at the moment. This might sound like a stupid question but I am kinda new at this and only have gone through one season. (serves me right for stating in the summer, eh?) Is it better to store them with less humidity or more? I would guess less? Dawn
  6. You can do this a couple ways that I can think of off the top of my head. 1. place them in a warm oven 2. place them on a candle warmer Dawn
  7. I DID warm the jars. I just thought that doing that was suppose to help it adhere to the jars better, not help with frost. Someone bumped up a very good thread about frost and using coconut oil, so I will be going out tomorrow and picking me up a jar to see if that helps. Danw
  8. Where do you get the dollar off coupons for Hobby Lobby? I have never seen any in the sunday paper, Just Michaels. Dawn
  9. I just poured a bunch of the Pink Sugar last week and to me this smells like baby powder more than the other scents. I used this scent in my breast cancer awareness candles. Dawn
  10. I am seeing the frost all around the glass today too. I pour between 110-100 and have poured around these temps since I started making candles. This is the first time I have ever encountered this. I am using the autumn orange though so that could be one of my problems. I am using 8 oz jj's with an Eco8. If I were to try the Crisco, would I need to wick up/down at all? Thanks. Dawn
  11. I don't have many scents, at the moment, but the one's I love are Creme Brulee and Pink Sugar. I just got a sample of strawberries & cream so this just might make the list as well. We'll see. Dawn
  12. Those are very nice. I love how pink you got them. I had an Idea one day to do this too and donate the proceeds to the cause as well. Well, the day I decided to do this was the day that DH's aunt died, from breat cancer. (didn't find out till two days after her death though) So now any money that get's raised will be donated in her name. I have mine in a light pink with pink sugar FO. I decorated them with the ribbon charm from BCN. Dawn
  13. So the bigger the wick, the better the hot throw? Forgive my stupidity, I just want to understand the wick thing. I am having a problem with BCN's Caramel Apple at the moment. I cannot smell it when I light the candle. I have an eco8 right now so does that mean I might want to wick up? Thanks. Dawn
  14. I am new to all this wick stuff but it looks like the bigger number of the wick makes a bigger melt pool? Or is it the other way around. And the melt pool should be no more than 1/2 inch, correct? Dawn
  15. Tereasa, I use the search feature first always, or I would not be posting this here. I was hoping maybe someone had created a calculator like the lovely ones we have here. I am new and have only worked with the eco8 and really not sure when one should wick up/down and was looking for guideance, so if you know where I could get a more better understanding of my question, without having to do numerous different types of seaches to try and find something, that would be appreciated, thank you. Dawn .
  16. Will CB-135 and an ECO8 wick work in an 8 oz straight side jj? Also, is there a list on here somewhere that will help someone in determining when one should wick up/down? Thanks. Oh, I am using 1-1 1/2 oz FO and one reddi-glo dye chip from BCN and nothing else. Dawn
  17. Since this is my first time using an embossing gun and never used a heat gun I really couldn't help you there. I can say that the embossing gun has two settings...on and off. Maybe a more experienced person will come along and answer your question for ya. Sorry. Dawn
  18. I got an embossing gun at Hobby Lobby. Dawn
  19. I had to get an embossing gun from Hobby Lobby yesterday. Do I use this in the same manner as the heat gun? I've never used either so not sure what to do. Do I go in circles or just straight across the top to smooth them out? Thanks. Dawn
  20. Have you tryed your local K-Mart? I was there yesterday, purchasing my first presto pot and they had jelly jars for sale. Dawn
  21. They have soy wax that recommends pouring at 150? Dawn
  22. I am using EZ soy with no additives. I have 1 oz pumpkin FO to one pound wax. I am using the eco8 wick, which is what BC reccomends. I melted the wax to 175 added one dye chip. Added FO at 120 and poured around 100 degrees. It burned for about 3 hours. I will wait to burn the rest then. I just have no patience and they smell soooo good. I'm also thinking there might be something wrong with my digital thermometer. Anyone know an easy way to see if it is keeping the correct temp? Thanks. Dawn
  23. This pumpkin pie smells more like pumpkin spices to me. Of course it's been awhile since I had a pumpkin pie baking in my oven. Maybe I should buy one and bake it to see? Think my diet would forgive me? Dawn
  24. I made some container candles yesterday afternoon and after the first burn I blew it out and then woke up to find that it is frosting deep inside the candle. (I see frosting on the sides of the jar) Can anyone tell me what caused this? I did a search but could't find anyone with this problem. Thanks. Dawn
