  1. Take each amount, divide it by 2.6 and you'll be close - HTH!
  2. That's kind of what I was thinking as well...
  3. Anyone know if these are Libbey votives? They won't tell me! I would think that would be a huge selling point if they are, so I'm guessing they aren't?!? I would like to switch to them if they are because they're relatively close to be for shipping $$ and time, but now they've even removed my posting on their board asking about the glassware.:rolleyes2 I just don't want to order up a bunch if they're not the same. I have a large account with an opening order of 500 of these little babies and hopefully more to follow, but I just don't know what to do...anyone know for sure??
  4. We built a 17x34 workshop which takes up about 1/4 of our basement along with a 10x12 room just for pouring candles and it's nowhere near big enough. I also took over the 10x12 furnace room and a 12x14 bedroom along with storing all my jars in the garage. I don't have a display area like you planned and I'm still out of room. I would at least double what you designed with the option to add on in the future if necessary...just my $.02 - HTH!
  5. She's at it again - I just received this email yesterday: Hi there. My name is Christie Amato and I am a consumer that is making approximately 50 beauty gift baskets for an upcoming wedding shower. I'd like to put products in the baskets that I stand behind and that I have sampled myself and think they are great! Is there any way that you would be able to send me a small sample of what your best products are before I decide to purchase anything? I'd be happy to pay for the shipping, if that makes things any easier for you. -Thanks in advance and have a great day-Christie Amato (PA)
  6. I don't think you can say you're competing against these people if you are producing a quality, handmade product. My customers know the value of good quality candles and they're not cheap and you can't find them at WallyWorld. If you're going to try to compete against some of these, you'll set yourself up for failure right from the start. People don't buy the candles made in China for their quality, they purchase them for the low $$, something most of us can't compete with.
  7. Yes, I just found out that CC has a copyright on the oval jars - who would have guessed?!? I think I have her content with a different jar. Thanks everyone!!
  8. I have a bride that is requesting a clear glass oval jar roughly 10-14oz; similar to the Colonial Candle jar - doesn't necessarily have to have a lid. Does anyone have any idea where I can find these? I'd like to get some ordered up soon so I have plenty of time to test - her wedding date is in Oct 2008. I've done a search both online and on this and other boards, but I can't find anything that would work. TIA!!
  9. How thick can the material be that is ran through these machines? I've thought about getting one also, but I have invested a lot in the Sizzix and I hate to have more stuff taking up space.
  10. Does anyone give their reps Birthday and/or Christmas gifts? My husband and I are going round and round about this one. He doesn't give his employees gifts; he owns an asphalt paving corporation and doesn't feel it's necessary. However, he does give some year-end bonuses. I feel I should do at least Christmas gifts, but both have their birthdays in Dec, so I could combine both if I do it. If any of you do, any suggestions for gift ideas?!?
  11. Yes, you are still needed, Mommas are always needed! I still call Mom when I'm sick! I would give that job your all as you said, but if I were you, I wouldn't sell out quite yet. Like others have said, you can always come back to it as long as you still enjoy it. Good luck with the new position!
  12. The husband, Eric Swenson, in that episode was my best friend's boyfriend in college. I always thought he was a nice guy and that show definitely proved it.
  13. I realize I'm a little late here, but I just have to put my 2 cents in. I was kind of in the same situation this past summer. I'm a former HS Business/Computer teacher. I currently stay home and run my candle/soap/B&B business. We have 2 little boys, 5 and 9 and my husband owns part of an asphalt paving corporation. I had the opportunity to go back to teaching this past summer and I tell you, it was a heck of a decision. I loved teaching, but I also love my company. With my husbands career (working 4am to 9pm at least and then tons of paperwork after work and on weekends), we decided we needed someone at home for our little guys. Right now, I don't make what I did teaching, but it's getting close. I don't have daycare, I have tons of deductions for us for taxes, I see them get on and off the bus, and I have tons of flexibility if they get sick, etc. Well, I turned down the positions. Quality of life is just too important for us. With my support on this end, my husband is able to do more on his end in his corporation. We now bumped up into a higher tax bracket, but so much so, that our taxes will be going down this year instead of up! Hubby is totally thrilled and constantly tells me and others that he couldn't do what he does if I didn't do what I do. Just thought I'd give you some food for thought. HTH!
  14. I'm IDSO their Oct newsletter. I always keep that kind of stuff in a special vendor folder, but I didn't get it this month. Arnie said that it got sent out Oct 2...anyone?!? It can be sent to sales@madebymelanie.net if anyone has this - TIA!!
