  1. How funny - I was just thinking about a blend of those two scents this morning while looking over my FO bottles. I am so glad you posted this! Makes me brave enough to try it out now :-)
  2. I thought KY had a Goddess Type? Check with AH/RE. I swear I thought I saw it on their website. Now I cannot say it is an exact dupe of the version you are seeking but it might be worth exploring :-)
  3. I have tried Aztec's Amish Harvest and ooh it smells wonderful. It has average HT in 6006 and 4794. I have not tried Peak's version. BUT I did find that Amish Quilt from AH/RE is very close to Amish Harvest and the HT and CT are wonderful!! (It made a really long lasting tart). AH/RE also sells an Amish Harvest and Celtic Moonspice which all have very similar spice notes to them and throw beautifully - in case you are looking to experiment :-). Sorry I have no info on Peak's - I hear they have wonderful oils - I'm sure a Peak's user will chime in soon!
  4. When Willow Woods was in business I used to buy her Ocean scent. It was a dupe of Pier 1 "Ocean"...an older fragrance. It was definitely salty and almost briny. I would sell out of it at every show. I have been going nuts trying to find a replacement for it. I did just see on the Candles and Supplies website that they sell an FO called: Ocean - Pier 1 "Type"...I have never purchased FO's from them before so I cannot attest to their overall quality - but you might want to explore that one if you have not done so already - hth.
  5. Scented - Straight Patchouli (I don't mix it with anything and it sells out at every show. Men like it too...) Baby Powder (CS's version is my #2 seller in dry oil body sprays right behind Patchouli.) Sex on the Beach Coconut Lime Lavender Vanilla Floral: I used to sell out of Willow Woods Yankee Type Plumeria in body sprays but since she closed I have not yet found a dupe of that one...everyone sells the BBW version which is just not as rich. If you find one, try it. Plumeria is an old favorite of many women. I would love to find a dupe of CS Grapefruit & Mangosteen FO that is body safe. It is so energizing and refreshing that in the hot summer months I think a scent like that would be pretty appealing. Vanilla Lace smells divine in body spray.(You mentioned Vanilla)
  6. @blacktieaffair - Try Aztec's Bamboo in 4794 - super strong! It's not a complex scent but it is certainly a fresh & green bamboo scent. I also tried Aztec's Amish Harvest in 4794 which starts out strong but tends to fade really fast after 6 hours. It's a really nice FO but I also could not get it to throw well in 6006 either. (I have since found that Amish Quilt from AH/RE is much stronger and a really great FO) Aztec Honeysuckle is nice and incredibly popular with customers...it's pretty much just a straight Honeysuckle so if you want something more complex it might be a good mixer with another floral.
  7. oh my god, I love this quilt! The red accenting really makes it something special...wonderful job!!
  8. @Candybee - well, now that you mention it, yes, it does seem to have more of a strawberry smell to it the longer it goes...perhaps the little bit of vanilla blending with the pomegranate creates that "sweetness" which I could not identify until you mentioned "strawberry". I hate being on the fence about an FO. Usually it's a pretty immediate Yes or No with me. Even though it is sweeter than I expected...I am having trouble disliking it, lol! Time to see how it performs in a candle. (I have not tried Peaks Pom...going off to explore some more :-)
  9. Sorry I did not specify which one :-) - I am testing their new straight Pomegranate....not the Pomegranate Cider. Just wasn't too sure if this is what Pomegranate should smell like since I am new to testing Pomegranate scents. Maybe I'll try mixing it with something else like you suggest...Mac Apple or even Apple Harvest...just to see what I get. Thank you!!
  10. I find myself really liking this one. Currently testing in a paraffin wax tart. The HT throw is strong but not what I would consider killer. However, I have customers who like to have different scents burning in different rooms...they don't want their entire house to smell like just one scent. So this one could be a contender. The problem I am having is that I don't know how true Pomegranate smells. lol! I think I was expecting more tartness....but this one has a sweetness to it. Of course, the description does say there is a bit of vanilla in it, so that is probably what I am detecting. Has anyone else tried this one or gotten feedback from testers/customers on this one? Thanks!
  11. NG does have an FO called Homemade Cheesecake which does smell like plain, creamy cheesecake when I use it paraffin. Have not tested it in soy or parasoy yet.
  12. I tested it and although it had a very strong HT, all I smelled was Clove as well, with the tiniest bite of something else which I took to be the Black Pepper. Old World Clove? Madagascar Clove? My testers all said it was not "interesting" - too much of a one note scent. For a one-note spice they said they prefer a Cinnamon candle to any other. So I never did anything else with it. Maybe you could try blending it with another FO to see if you can give it more depth?
  13. Love it! We have customers who swear by it for all odors, not just cigarette smoke. The fact that it is not an "ozone-y" scent but more of a lemony scent seems to be a plus as well.
  14. 1. He is engaging in Slander against your business, against your product quality, against you!! 2. He is interfering with your business by actually pulling one of your customers away from your booth. 3. If your Flea Market has a written Code of Ethics (ours does) by which all Vendors must adhere to...then your Flea Market needs to take steps to enforce this code. If they do not...well, it's entirely up to you to obtain a lawyer who can send the other vendor a Cease and Desist letter. And put the Flea Market on notice that you are taking this seriously even if they are not. (I realize most folks would not want to go this far...but this is ongoing interference with your business.) 4. He won't stop. Trying to act like a bigger person is all well and good...but he won't stop. And in fact, it might get worse now that the Flea Market seems to have pretty much let him know that his behavior is acceptable by the very act of NOT doing anything about it. The Flea Market clearly is not taking ownership of what is occurring on their property (and I am assuming that you are having to pay them for the opportunity to rent a booth space where your business is slandered and your customers interfered with?? You are 100% right to be frustrated with this organization.) 5. Bullying doesn't just occur in schools. And when bullies continue to "bully" because they know they won't be stopped because the rest of the "Sane" world doesn't seek conflict or wish to engage in a fight, well, it's just a really upsetting situation for you to be stuck in. I feel your frustration and discomfort. You have options. You'll choose the right one for you. I hope it all works out for the best - and hey, who knows, if you do decide to leave the Flea Market perhaps another opportunity for your business will become available! You know that old saying: "When one door closes, another one opens?" You just never know!! Best of luck to you :-)
  15. Soleil, I had that same experience! The HT is just an overpowering maple syrup scent. But the CT gives you that blend of custard and pumpkin which you would expect from a pumpkin creme brulee. I'm thinking that the Creme Brulee from KY might be a good mixer with a pumpkin scent....
  16. I was just testing KY's Creme Brulee last night. It is awesome! Smells like creamy/buttery/custardy creme brulee...does not have that wierd Maple Syrup smell I have gotten with some other companies.
  17. Hi Caryfh, I make candles and some bath and body. You will need to check with the County you move to in Florida to find out what type of licensing you are required to have. (For instance our local County Code Enforcement Agency requires me to have a Manufacturing license (since I make my own products) a Retails sales license (since I sell at craft shows and State Fairs) as well as a Home Occupation License since I make candles in my residence. **Also, in Florida I live in a much older subdivision that is not regulated by any HOA so I am permitted to "Manufacture" products in my home. There are a great many subdivisons run by HOA's (Home Owner's Associations) which limit what type of occupation you run from your home or what types of items you are permitted to make in your home, if any. As for Florida not permitting the sale of handcrafted items other than soap, I have not seen a law to that effect. Folks are out there making and selling lotions, soaps, sprays, scrubs, candles, incense, body butters, perfumes...phew! It seems that a great many unemployed folks have turned to bath and body and candles as a way to make a living. But again, check with the County and Code Enforcement department of the area you move to...as well as your subdivision. (You want to be fully licensed to avoid any potential issues with nosy neighbors :-) HTH
  18. I knew you guys would have some cool ideas about this. Thank you for sharing...I'm going to play around with it and see what I come up with. I also was thinking it would be fun for customers to be able to "blend" their own scent flakes to create their own fragrances...Sorta like at 7/11 where they now let you blend different flavors of Slushie/Icee mix. (hope that makes sense?) As long as the cup or bag comes out to the right weight, then why not let folks have some fun with it? A customer might even come up with a cool new "scent" that could be tested in candle form as well. Ideas, ideas....all sorts of ideas for "wickless" fun!
  19. Hi, I saw these at a craft fair today: www.TirNaNogFlakes.com We bought some and I am melting a tablespoonful (per the instructions) in a CandleWarmers large burner. They smell really nice. Scents my livingroom pretty well. Not overly strong but it is pleasant and I can add more if I want it stronger. Kind of a fun idea. We asked the lady how she made these and she said she just melts the soy wax, adds color and fragrance and then chunks them up again. She had a real crowd around her booth. Women and men who seemed really intrigued by the "Idea" of actually seeing soy in flake form...made it seem "greener" to them somehow. And they were having fun filling their plastic cups. Kind of had a candy store appeal to it. But when I looked at the flakes at home...I got a pine scented cup of these...one side of each flake is dark green and the other side is light green. How is that possible if the soy wax was completely melted and colored? Also, the flakes are identical in thinness to the ones in my box of GB 444. Is there a way to pour this and chop it that thin? I cannot quite figure this out. It just seemed like it could be fun to try to make!
  20. So it's not just me? Love this FO but in 6006 it is a bugger to wick. I am working with 8oz Square Masons and 16oz Tins. Have not yet tried it with soy in the 8oz tins. I am drowning out Eco 8's in the mason jar...but an ECO 10 throws soot and torches. Tried 60-44 Zinc and it drowned. WOW. I never, ever have to use that size Zinc. Double wicked the tin in ECO 6's and ECO 8's and HTP 93's...Eco 10's are struggling on the 3rd hour. They look like they need me to throw them little wick life preservers :-) Since this is such a strong throwing scent I think another option is to simply try backing down on the FO load and see if that helps. If less than 1oz per pound can deliver a good hot throw and allows the wicks to burn better...then that might be the solution! And then I might try Vberkesch's suggestion of blending it with another pumpkin spice type fo just to see what happens. At least it sells well in tarts. Customers love it. I can simply use up the rest of the FO in those if the candles keep failing. Oi vai and then some.
  21. So far I have had great success with CS Blue Spruce in 6006 and 4794. Have not yet tested in GB 444 but will get there. I love this scent. It is so different from the sharper pine of CS Mistletoe that it gives my "pine-loving" cutstomers a new option. Keep playing with it...I have had FO's that at first I thought were not working...gone back and retested on a different day and discovered they threw very well. Candle Nose, allergies, cold...or maybe I did not pour at just the right temp because I was rushing...ah, you never know! But there are loads of pine FO's out there...so keep having fun with the testing and let us know what you find that maybe we are missing out on ;-)
  22. Just got my samples this morning of Spice Market and BRV both from CS. I have to say...the Spice Market is wonderful to my nose. The cinnamon is a sweet one...there are other sweet spice notes in there which make this an unusual (in a good way) spice fragrance. It is NOT your typical boatload of cinnamon/clove that you get for the holidays. I can already see Candybee mixing this with something tropical and calling it Spice Islands....hmm...come to think of it...I might just try that. This one is going to be an interesting "blender". The BRV is heavy on the Raspberry top notes. OOB I cannot smell any Vanilla. (I could have candle nose so don't take that to be a negative comment). But that means nothing until I get it into wax to see how it blossoms. If it needs more Vanilla I might try tweaking it with some CS Vanilla Lace...just to make it a little different. I also got a sample of the Blueberry Cobbler and this one is delicious! I could smell it before I opened the box and it had not leaked...it was just a really strong blueberry and bakery scent. The UPS Lady wanted to know where I was ordering muffins from! LOL! Anyway...both of the new scents seem promising - I'll post back once I have had time to test them in wax.
  23. (I was thinking of a variation on the name of that fun shampoo from the 70's...) "Gee, Your Naked Cowboy Smells Terrific!"
  24. I was surprised to find that NG's Clean Cotton has a better HT in 6006 wax than the CS Clean Cotton. A bit of a bummer since I prefer to use CS whenever possible due to shipping costs and trying to narrow down suppliers to keep things more cost effective. I have used the CS Clean Cotton in straight paraffin with great results in case anyone is making candles/tarts without soy.
  25. His Pumpkin Spice throws very well in 6006 wax. The Blueberry Muffin and straight Pomegranate both performed well in 4794. Hoepfully you will have great luck with the majority of your choices! I am really curious about the Honeysuckle scents you picked!
