  1. Whoa, very cool idea! ("dreamed"? golly . . .:embarasse )
  2. Oo, yum, that should be nice! I'll be interested to see how the color varies. Wonder how much difference there would be between fresh vs canned vs baby food, if any . . .
  3. Major Ditto! That goes for any field of work - an observation from someone new might bring a whole fresh approach that would never occur to a veteran, simply BECAUSE they haven't got past experience to shape their ideas. Very True!
  4. Maybe you found some since posting, but I just noticed Oregon Trails is offering 24K now. http://www.oregontrailsoaps.com/glitters.html hth
  5. Thanks! Actually, I let them dry in the little ornament balls. Back when I was first making them, I about lost my mind from frustration because the balls always either cracked deeply around their equators, or were too soft when I unmolded them & fell apart, or both. The witch hazel spritzing has never worked terrifically well for me. So at some point I closed the balls completely - trying to stop the equator issues - and promptly forget about them for a couple of days. When I remembered, they popped out, nice and hard, and I've never looked back. I do let them sit a day after opening them, but since they're hard by that time it's ok for them to touch each other and the rim of the tray. If I have a lot, or wildly different fragrances, sometimes I'll lay bamboo skewers down in a cross-hatch pattern and let each ball sit in its own square. I haven't used the rice bed at that point, mainly because I recycle it and it's got crumbs from other batches - don't want to pick up different fragrances - but I don't see why you couldn't. Any indents might even make an interesting texture - you'd just need to be sure no rice comes away with the product. (sorry if this turned into a thread hijack!)
  6. Thanks for the kind words, ladies, it really means a lot to me.:awww: Yesterday was 4 wks, & I just tried it out in the shower - feels great, lathers well, scent has faded a wee bit but still pleasant. Definitely a keeper, though I think my cucumber soap still feels best of all my "food" recipes. G'ma, I haven't experimented with micas yet, so I'm speaking without any personal experience, but maybe swirling at fairly thick trace would keep it from migrating? It's a cool idea - anyone else who actually knows what they're talking about?
  7. :embarasse Wups, sorry, I overlooked that you were asking about M&P. :embarasse In that case, I'm glad to know the info, too, since I'm going to start dabbling in that area. I'm thinking, if the Crystal Light containers work, perhaps those little lidded condiment/sauce cups you get with take-away food would work too.
  8. I get my lye flakes from The Chemistry Store & have always been happy with them. Just FYI if you need your fix again.
  9. I bought a couple of log molds, but for slabs I just use cardboard boxes I've received in the mail - the best ones have been from Amazon and priority boxes from PetMeds and FireMountain Gems. Where there was a gap in the bottom I cut a piece from one of the flaps to fill it in, line them with wax or freezer paper & it's good to go. Lately I used the Summerbee recipe resizer to calculate the boxes' max capacity and keep a print of the results in each box.
  10. Brenda those are so pretty! I love the geometric patterns in the chunk, too. Did you take time arranging the pieces, or did they happen to fall in just right?
  11. Beautiful! Great color and swirls, and are you sure that's not a marshmallow brownie?
  12. Nice job! :highfive: I think my fav is the third - pretty swirls! I can empathize about the EO- all my CP that were flavored with only EO faded right out. I'm just unwilling to use the quantity needed to make it stick. S'all right - I use all those amazing FO's for CP and save my EO's for other stuff like bubbles & butters & bombs (oh my! ).
  13. Oh, what fun - and the two of you got a simply beautiful result. It makes me think of porcelains by Royal Doulton or Capodimonte.
  14. Teri, if/when you do set it up in the swap section, could you please post a heads-up on this thread? Cheers!
  15. Top, these are unbelievably beautiful. You really have a gift. :highfive:
  16. Wowser, both the soaps and the basket are wonderful. The lotus soap especially - that gorgeous lapis color, set off by those delicate pure white top swirls. Awesome! What's that neat little wicker ball in the basket? It makes a great focal point.
  17. Left to right: ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, and OMG I want that orange patch!
  18. Thank you so much for sharing this, Shafeena! I know what I'll be doing this weekend instead of yardwork, lol!
  19. Those look great! I think I recognize the halfsies - not enough left for a whole ball so you squish into one side, yes? I know I do that all the time when I don't want to do scrapple & mix leftovers. CBV1 and anyone else, I fill a rimmed cookie sheet with cheap, uncooked rice and sit the molded balls on that. The rice makes a little dimple to hold the ball and prevents it from rolling. Not only that, but I suspect it may act as a dessicant as well. HTH!
  20. What a great name - and your label looks very cool. Can't wait to try it!
  21. Striking & beautiful! The scents sound luscious- I love blending with coriander eo, but I hadn't thought of mandarin. (...want to buy fo's . . . must be . . .strong . . .)
  22. DeJae, lmao - :laugh2: you're killin' me! :laugh2:
  23. Golly, both effects look gorgeous. I love the framed white, but you know, the end piece looks like melty mocha ice cream, and that's never a bad thing!
