  1. I've been researching Cricut cutters for labels. Does anyone here use them for their product labels? I'm wondering how long it would take to cut around 300 labels if there were about 4-6 on each sheet. Also, do you have to buy the monthly fee for the design program to use the cutter?
  2. Has anyone tried Inkscape to create their labels? You can get a free download here. https://laserinkjetlabels.com/pages/label-design-software/ I got it to play around with but I wanted to see if anyone here uses it and can give some opinions.
  3. All of them look cute to me. Do you make them yourself? If so, what program do you use, and what printer do you print them on? BTW orange or eucalyptus essential oils take off any type of stickiness super fast. Ok, now I see you make them in Zazzle.
  4. Are you in the West? I've never heard of EAP, but I just looked them up. They are out of 464 too.
  5. Thanks, I did try them. Their UPS shipping for 4 cases was going to be $282, and their Fed ex would be $195, that's just for shipping. I like them for other items though. They have great candle dyes.
  6. He said they are too small to offer the hundred weight shipping and lower wax prices CS does. Too bad, I get frustrated with CS running out of things I need. Year round too, not just during the holidays.
  7. Thanks, I was talking with them today. Shipping is great but the wax prices are really high I'm doing a small order with them to get me by. I wonder why this side of the country doesn't have candle suppliers? We don't have any soap suppliers either.
  8. I did stock up the last time they ran out. But I still have to place more orders. My accounts change and evolve constantly, there is no way I could buy all of my supplies 4 or 5 months in advance. And I don't have enough space at my shop to even hold that much raw material. You must have a very large place to hold 5 months of raw materials at one time. This time I still have some left which is why I have some time to look around. They are saying it is because of the hurricanes a while ago that the manufacturer has trouble getting the raw materials to make the wax.
  9. I'm so surprised I haven't seen people complaining about the shortage of 464 lately, especially on the west coast. I typically buy from Candle science, but they are ALWAYS out of the 464 cases lately when I need them. I've tried to find other suppliers closer to me but I'm coming up short, or they are outrageously expensive. The places farther from me are calculating their shipping at almost $200 for 4 cases, that's insane. UGH! Anyone know of suppliers closer to CA that have decent prices?
  10. I was helping my daughter make some mini soaps for her office Christmas gifts. I forgot how fun this cutter is, and how cute the soaps are, so I thought I'd share.
  11. I decided it's time for a new logo. Is anyone on this board doing logo creation? I know what I want and I'm trying to work with a logo company but they aren't getting the vibe right. I think another candle/soap person may understand better. It's important that it's able to be saved as a vector file and transparent background in the end.
  12. Such a cutie! I wish mine was this mellow.
  13. Thanks Nancy. I have some Juniper, but I don't know what other types of fragrances or EOs you would be adding to it to make sandalwood. Which ones are you using?
  14. I'm always on the search for a true blue Sandalwood deep and earthy. Most smell too powdery and light to me. Anyone have some recommendations? There are some old posts about Sandalwood, but nothing current.
  15. I've been making soy candles for over 12 years. I used to hear what you are inquiring about when I first started. It used to freak me out too. I haven't used 415, but I have used 464 for about 8 years.(same manufacturer). 464 has MANY inconsistencies. I've heard 415 is much more consistent than 464. As long as I stay with the same wicks, from the same manufacturer, same FO, from the same distributor, I haven't found the throw or wicking to change dramatically, as of yet, even when the wax looks and behaves differently from box to box. That doesn't mean you don't have to make testers now and then to make sure all is going well. I don't retest every box though. If you are doing a large amount of candles this is close to impossible to do. I think it also helps to know there is no perfect candle. You can make 4 candles exactly the same out of the same box of wax and they may all have slight variances.
  16. Which wax is supposed to be improving the throw?
  17. Most of Peaks wicks came from Wicks Unlimited. Bitter Creek sells the same HTPs that Peak did from WU. I don't know who sells the same LX but you can call WU and ask. They give free samples too. Their minimum order is 10,000 wicks though, so I can't order directly from them. Im not there yet, maybe you are. HTPs and LXs from Candle Science burn hotter than the ones from Peak. They are from a different manufacturer. I still get them. It's not about the coating, it's all about who/how they are made. WU can explain that to you if you call them. The ones from CS are good for when you are in between sizes but generally they burn too hot for my taste. Im in the middle of retesting all my HTP wicked candles my candles too. Nothing like making your accounts wait (and having your income stop) because your supplier closed down.
  18. What wax issues? I hope not mine. I mix a few to make my own blend. I have a lot of experience with many types of wicks. (performa, hemp, lx, rrd, square braid, premier, cd, csn, cdn, htp, paper, zinc) I typically gravitate towards HTP wicks, but I get tired of the curling posture. I've tried some of the cored wicks, but the ones from Peak were the best I've tried. I'm even struggling with retesting my HTP scents too. Not all HTPs are created equal. I found a supplier that has the same manufacturer of HTPs that Peak did, but they still seem to burn a little different.
  19. Actually I think the wicks they sold as Cotton Core are WU wicks from Wicks Unlimited. These are a cotton core as well, but not "the" cotton core wicks. I really liked them for their posture while burning and the fact they didn't burn as hot. It's just a pain in the ass to retest my entire line of candles again with other types of wicks. And I get to do this while accounts are waiting for their orders and moving into the busy time of year.
  20. I figured that was a typo. Lx 10 makes a lot more sense. It gives an idea for size comparisons with other wick types but I still don't understand which wick a c-40 is in the cotton core chart. Those numbers are read like 51-18-32.
  21. You can put the flat top molds on a rack to cool so you don't have to worry about them being unstable.
  22. Thank you coconut for responding. I've never heard of an lx 40. I've worked with lx 28 before and it was a very large wick. I feel like cotton core and lx wicks burn completely different, which is why I was gravitating toward them. I wish Peak would offer more help for customers to transition to other suppliers.
  23. I recently smelled a bottle of American Crew (from the men's hair and body care line) and I had forgotten what a great scent this is. It's been around for a really long time. I would love to make a candle or soap with this scent, does anyone know who makes a dupe of it? I tried an internet search but didn't find anything.
  24. Candlewic.com and Candlescience used to sell primed spools, and raw spools, its been a while since I ordered it so they may not carry it anymore, but worth looking into.
