I'm a newbie soaper. I use these & love them. I've only done 3 batches and in my opinion these are the easiest to use. They come with instructions. Just follow the charts.

Finally got fed up with my scale turning off on me & got me a Will Knott 7000! Silicon'd my mold with that Kitchen & Bath sealant and now I'm ready to try this one. One question, can I use regular homogenized & pasterized supermarket milk? Or maybe cream, or half&half? Can't get GM. Should I freeze as you would GM? Or should I just stick to water?

Flip flops are FOH Island Temptations. I was trying for tropical kind of colors. The pink looks red in the pic. The orange one is Karma Type (Lush). I think I got close to the color. I only made 1 bar to test olive oil & castor in there. I want to get a hard mp bar. I read in one of my books to use salt water (1 part salt to 2 parts water) to harden mp. Anyone ever heard or tried that?

Finally a question I can answer. Crisco is veggie fat. I believe soybean. Lard is animal fat (pork).

sorry to hear that. I also used the store brand & it worked out well. I don't think the store brand are doing that no trans fat thing, so I figured that was safer to use than the new crisco.

Putty knife? Yeah, tried that but when I got the bottom smooth, I'd messed up the sides trying to get the bottom smooth all the way to the sides. KWIM? Bah humbug! I'm just not that handy. Unlike Wildangel, I don't have a DH.

I found a thread on the dish on applying Kitchen & Bath silicon sealant to wooden molds. This would eliminate having to lined them. Anyone tried that? I applied it to one mold & couldn't get it smooth enough. Was wondering how I'll get rid of those bumps & lines from my bars?

Welcome to the OBSESSION! I've been mp'ing for only 6 months & only done 3 cp batches, but it's all I think about. I think about when's the next time I'll have some free time, what FO to try, what color to use, how to package it for gifting, labels etc etc.... the list just goes on and on and on......And it's only a hobby for me.
