  3. Congratulations on your first batch. They are truly awesome! Can I ask, what did you use for coloring? I'm attempting my 1st next week & wondering what I should use for coloring. R.
  4. WOW! Me likes! I don't see any lining. Are these to be used unlined? I can't wait to see the cutter. Great job! R.
  5. Thanks topofmurrayhill. Wow, missed that on the site. Hey, I'm also from NY. Didn't think to find NY people soaping. Cool!
  6. Thanks Jadryga. I did come across this site in my research when I googled co. Basically I wanted to confirm that the ev co from soaper's choice should be calculated as the 76 deg in soapcalc. It's confusing because they (soaper's choice) have the 76 deg as a separate oil. Maybe those are the refined ones?
  7. reading and reading and reading before doing my 1st cp in a few weeks. Question: coconut 76 & coconut 92 - solid but melts at these temps. frac coconut oil - soft, liquid. But what's: extra virgin coconut oil virgin coconut oil refined coconut oil soapcalc doesn't have these on their list. I ordered some (ev co) on the co-op & now I have no idea how to calc. help me please. so confused.
  8. Thanks Lindsay. Off I go to check. checking........checking........checking........ update: skimmed through MSDS on both -- way too technical, like foreign language to me. Anyway, no mention of shelf life under "Storage." It did say "Biodegradability" is "not determined." Does that mean it doesn't break down?
  9. Hi all, I'm new at b&b and I now have Germall+ & LiquaPar Optima. But I'm wondering how long can I keep this stored & still be safe to use? I've search & couldn't find any references to the shelf life of these preservatives. Does anyone here know? R.
  10. Newbie, poking my nose in it. I like AmBert Creations too. Ok, once you decide on a name do you need to register, copyright, trademark it? Do you need to find out if the name's being used?
  11. welcome newbie! I'm also a newbie, and started with m&p, too. No need to cover the molds. If you have extra chunks, you can save them or re-melt to use for another project. Most importantly, have fun!
  12. Thanks SoapersWorkshop. My skin sure needs all that TLC.
  13. Thanks 3bees~1flower. There's a lot of good ones there.
  14. Thanks TexasBrat. Appreciate your input. I'll look into that when I'm ready to place an order. I have a few things & was looking for something I can do with what I have.
  15. Hi all, I'm new at making b&b and bought these pumps thinking I can use for lotion. The dip tube doesn't seem wide enough for lotion to dispense. So what can I do with them now? A gel? A serum? Need a recipe please? R.
  16. Thanks Incandessence. Sorry to put you through the trouble. I think I'll try CindyM's recipe. Doesn't sound too hard.
  17. Hi Incandessence, Thanks for your input. I looked at the site. Couldn't find the lotion kit.
  18. ok Glo, I'll give it a try. Thanks for your patience with all my questions.
  19. I can do that cindym. By how much should I up the e-wax? Same amount of stearic? What do you use to dissolve the cornstarch so it won't clump up? I'm sorry for all the questions. I want to get this right. What's the life span for this with the preservative?
  20. Thanks gloworm. Yes, it sounds wonderful. I have this one on my to-do-list. I just don't have the stearic or dry flo yet. I think saw a recipe on this board that was easy. Only water, oil, shea, e-wax, and perservative. Similar to the one on Lavender Lane & Soapnuts. But meaurements were in tbsps instead of percentages, so I thought that one would be a good place to start, but now I can't find it. Any ideas?
  21. Thanks Eugenia, unfortunately, they were delivered unsealed, caps & bottles in separate packages. If I just rinsed them out with alcohol, will that be enough?
  22. Hi everyone, I'm ready to try making my first lotion. I'd like to try a recipe that doesn't have too many ingredients. I'm just learning & don't have alot of stuff, but I'd like to use shea butter. Also, I've been reading & know I have to sterilize my bottles. How do I sterilize plastic lotion bottles? Can anyone help? Thanks a bunch!!
  23. Oh wow! That'd never occurred to me. I also have a few BE's that I don't use. I'm olive-toned and not all colors suit me. beau's mama, please let us know if that worked & how much of it you've used. R.
  24. Lindsay, thank you for explaining that. Since I don't sale what I make, I just gift them, I was looking for a preservative that would work for at least most of what I make. Don't want to have to buy too much stuff. Like, where would I store it all in my little apartment? I'm already crowded in. LOL!
  25. Hi all, I posted for Bunny on sticky and thought I'd post here also. Hope that's alright. I'm new at making this stuff and am trying to figure out about preservatives. From reading Bunny's sticky post, I gathered that I can use Liquapar Optima for both oil-based products (scrubs, butters) as well as water- and oil-based products (lotions, creams). The description saids: In aqueous systems, a co-solvent or surfactant may be needed to help solubilize the preservative. Does anyone know what that means? Would truly appreciate any help.
