  1. This year I'm adding Incense, Aroma Beads, Ornies and Smelly Jellies Been quite busy learning about all these new things hehe it's totally addictive though
  2. I'm at work right now so I can't check, but I took an empty glass bottle, then added like 20 drops of purple and 5 drops of yellow (something close to this, keeping the same ratio of 4 purple to 1 yellow) into the empty bottle. Then mixed the solution very well. That became my "mauve" dye. Now when I want to make a mauve candle, I use 1 drop of that solution per pound, sometimes 2 drops if I want it a little darker. Hope that helps....if you need more info feel free to PM me and when I get home from work I'll check the exact amounts I used. Also, I did not use this company's dyes, but liquid dyes from a different supplier.
  3. The cost to make the candles is going to vary depending on the type of wax you use, whether you have it shipped or pick up local, what FOs you use, what size candle you are making, what additives you use(if any), etc. There is no magic price to charge. What I do is add up what it cost for me to make the candle, then multiply by 3 for retail. But it also depends on what your area will pay for that candle. HTH a little
  4. It all depends on the company that sells the rubber stamps.. TAC (The Angel Company) you can sell items you make using their stamps as long as the images are handstamped...for example you can't make a picture with the stamps and photocopy it for mass production. There are some companies however that will only let you use their stamps for resell if you give them credit for the images, as well as some that won't let you use it at all. So you'd have to check with each company before you used their stamps. HTH
  5. Did you check the inside of the mold for possible scratches? I have a mold that has scratches in it that I can only use for rustic candles because the scratches show up in the candle...HTH
  6. I've used that chart a few times and got close to the right color...I mix the colors into a separate bottle then take drops from that bottle to add to the wax. For mauve I believe I only used 1 drop per pound of the final mixture. Hope that makes sense....
  7. Not to mention it is entirely possible that the person that asked has only heard them referred to as melts...I know when I first started here I didn't know what a "tart" was. I knew what pillars, and votives were, that was about it lol.
  8. You could also make them wickless candles to be used on a candle warmer...It might help. I know my jars get warm to the touch when I put them on one. Just a thought
  9. I really like the Southern Pleasures name
  10. Hmmm....maybe try waiting a little longer or pouring a bit cooler...the hotter the wax is when you pour the more the wax will shrink...HTH
  11. I would be interested in testing....sounds like it would be awesome!
  12. My county asks for a complete inventory on all goods, equipment, and raw materials every year for any business...so maybe it depends on where you live?
  13. You can always have a "hostess packet" that you give them when they book a party. This would include tips and reminders for how to do things, such as 2 days before party call those that are invited to see who plans to attend, as well as enough brochures and invitations to hand out to guests before the party, etc...just some suggestions. HTH
  14. Please forgive my ignorance, but what is drop shipping? TIA
  15. Michaels usually has some in their jewelry making/beading section. HTH
  16. More than likely the "no candles" on the truck is because they can't insure that they will reach their destination in the condition they picked them up in...That was the reason given to us when we used to move a lot(military brat lol). We also couldn't send anything that could melt such as crayons... thank goodness this was before my candle making days
  17. They are both wonderful, but I prefer the 2nd...
  18. I tend to like the smooth glassy look on mine so I heat them a bit longer so both sides are smooth.
  19. That looks really nice Seems you are up to a great start!
  20. Thank you so much for the response I'll have to give them a try, never ordered from them before.
  21. They look really really good... The only thing I might change is not center the tag, maybe put it closer to the bottom so you can see more of the "peaches". HTH
  22. Does anyone know of a good supplier that carries this scent? TIA
  23. I used candle dye mixed into the FO to color them, then after I put them in the cookie cutters I lightly dabbed mica powder on them. HTH Thanks again everyone for the wonderful compliments.
  24. As for the when you use the debit card at the gas stations (and other places) it basically does a check for a certain amount, such as $25. They do this because there were so many people that would fill up (remember you don't know exactly how much the price will be when you are done filling up since it always changes) only to have their credit/debit card charge denied, so this is a way of protecting themselves. Hotels, rental car places, etc all do this.
  25. I tried some of the bday candles a while back. Saw them at the grocery store. Not sure if that are the same or not, but the ones we got had a major chemical odor when they burned and were very messy after wards. There was a liquid inside that makes them burn with colored flames but if you aren't really careful the liquid makes a mess. But they were neat
