  1. It could very well be that there location is not zoned to have actual retail customers. We have a zone here that you can store stuff and ship but are not allowed to have customers come to your property to buy. That's not even taking into account that insurance goes up if you have customers on your property as well. Lots of reasons why they wouldn't want you to come to the property that are legitamate reasons. But I think if I were them I would find a solution since you are that close. Heck, I'd even be willing to drive it over to you real quick.
  2. My recipe is 4-6g of FO per pound of Slat rock. 1-2 drops of candle dye. I mix all of it in a mason jar, then (while wearing latex gloves) pour out onto paper towels. Blot quite a bit and take a heat gun and slowly go over all the rocks as I continue to blot. I can make about 6 batches of 2 lbs each scent in about an hour this way. When I'm done I put the rocks back in the mason jar to store until I have an order for them. HTH.
  3. The one from Peaks should be by weight. They are usually right on or over.
  4. Here are the tutorials for the Craft BMS. It looks to be an excellent product. http://www.thesoftwarehelpdesk.com/cbms.htm
  5. Here is that crafting software. It's expensive but has a good bit of features I like. I downloaded the trial version and love it. Just haven't decided if I love it enough to pay that kinda money lol. http://www.craftingsoftware.com/
  6. Just curious as to what everyone uses to keep track of inventory, sales, supplies etc? I looked at SoapMaker, but I only do candles and not sure how well that would work, I've also looked at a program called Craft Business Management System which seems awesome but pricey. I dont' have MS Office so Excel and Access are out. Right now doing most of this stuff by hand but as I grow I'd rather use the computer to help out . TIA
  7. It may mean the fact that when a wickless melts from the bottom up, sometimes the liquid part on the bottom will shoot up like a gyser(sp?) if the center melts and there is still unmelted wax on the sides. To keep that from happening on mine I poke holes in it as it's melting so the liquid slowly seeps to the top and the solid wax sinks to the bottom....hope that makes sense lol. I think I need some more coffee
  8. I use the metal pouring pots, but I think either would work the way I do it it. I heat mine a good bit higher than the temp I pour at. Then add additives/FO/color etc. After they are added and stirred I let cool to my pouring temp. HTH.
  9. Cool...hehe maybe one day we can get together and make some candles and such!
  10. I know last year here in GA it got up to 105 some days, so I know inside my car was hotter, and they held up. Just don't make them too thin and you should be good to go HTH
  11. Hey, just noticed you are in Georgia as well What part? (if you feel comfortable in sharing that, if not that's cool too). I'm near Augusta.
  12. I have 3...all with a spout, but I never use it lol. I just use a metal ladle to put my melted wax in the pour pots. Also, you can melt a bunch of the same wax. I fill the presto bot with wax, then measure out what I need into the pour pots, then add Fo and color in the pour pot. That way I always have wax in the presto and onlly takes a few minutes to melt HTH
  13. You use armoa beads to make the ornies....Here is a link with the instructions: http://www.candlesupply.com/how2aromaornies.html As for if they sell well, mine sell pretty good. I don't have a huge customer base yet but so far they are doing better than my candles even. HTH
  14. That's possible. I was just curious. It is weird how different people can use the same recipe and get different results though. What works for one doesn't work for others sometimes hehe. I have some regular salt rock from a grocery store to make homemade icecream but never got around to trying it. Might do that later on my days off and see how it goes.
  15. Candle Man, I'm interested to know how much FO you used with the rock salt and how long you left to dry, as I use only 100% Solar Salt Rock for my sachets (car fresheners) and they last anywhere from 3-6 weeks. Just curious Thanks, Demenshia
  16. I sell mine for $3.95 for 1oz of salt rock in the sachet bags...but it all depends on your market and how much people in your area are willing to pay for them. Most in my area don't even blink at that price, especially if they've tried one already. They last much longer than the cardboard ones you get in the stores for $1. HTH
  17. the 15 1/2" one... Haven't had a chance to play with it yet though Been too busy with other stuff, but my days off from work are coming up and I'll be one heat sealing fool lol
  18. It seals bags so they are air tight Makes packaging look more professional
  19. I believe it would be 27.2 ounces(weight). Using the calculator fir a 5X5 round mold I came out with 3.09lbs or 50oz of wax...hth
  20. Just got my impulse sealer from Harbor Freight! Can't wait to try it out Was using a EuroSealer, hopefully this will work much better
  21. I'm able to just push the wick up through the bottom. I've never had a problem doing it that way. Then I heat the metal tab just a bit before I push all the way in so it sits flush with the wax.
  22. I use candle dye to color the salt rock...haven't messed with the other things in that thread as I fell in love with the salt rock so stopped there hehe
  23. To get the wick pin out I turn my votives upside down and press down on the votive, it should slide down the pin, then I just pull it the rest of the way out. ETA: When I turn upside down I put the tip of the wick pin on a hard surface. HTH
  24. You should be able to just turn the mold upside down and they should fall out. If not try squeeze the mold a tiny bit to release it. If that still doesn't work put in fridge for a few minutes and try again. As for the wicks, are you using a wick pin? If so you should be able to push the wick through from the bottom. HTH
  25. Try pouring hotter, I pour mine at 165. I heat to 180-185 before I add FO and color, then cool to 165 to pour. HTH ETA: I noticed you are in Scotland, so edited to add that these temps are in F not C...
