  1. How I understand it is, CA Candle Supply is the onsite distribution center at the Accu-Blend plant in Pomona, CA. I'm interested in hearing what they come back with on your case price. How great it would be to live close enough to go pick it up, yay for you! Well.. assuming all works out with the case, price, etc.
  2. I'm not really sure yet, this is my first time working with either waxes. Both came in "pellet" form and were super easy to measure/work with. I poured them last Saturday with just uv and fo and have my first testers burning now. The first thing I noticed is how low of a melt point both waxes have (I'm typically a paraffin girl). Neither wax came with any guidelines so I'm not sure how much fo either are expected to hold but between the low melting point and 1oz/lb of fo, the candle tops are sweating something fierce this first burn. I'm enjoying playing with new waxes. Lots to think about!
  3. Ok so I got around to opening my new waxes from Accublend and took a look at the invoice. 50 lbs #83 Coconut Blend - $69.00 50 lbs #43 Olive Oil Blend - $78.00 S&H from CA to WI - $98.78 - It's been a really long time since I've paid shipping on wax and I don't know that I've ever paid for it all the way from CA. I was shocked at the cost. Does it seem high to you or would you say this is pretty typical? Maybe I've gotten spoiled with my wax suppliers being so close by.
  4. They haven't sent me an updated invoice yet so I'm not sure how much of my total charges are for wax vs shipping but I'll be sure to post on here when I get back home this Friday. The shipment should be there by then.
  5. I know! I should've asked if could buy more than one of each.
  6. I placed an order online for 5 slabs of the coconut and olive oil blends since they didn't have an option for purchasing by the case. They called to get my credit card information and explained that I could buy a case for testing purposes. Each case ended up being less than it would have cost for 5 slabs so maybe they'll sell them 1 time per customer at pallet price, not sure - it was somewhere around 60 dollars for one of the cases and 70 for the other which is incredibly cheap. They haven't sent me a receipt with the change in my order or tracking info as of yet but she told me that the order would go out the next day so I expect it to arrive soon. Honestly..I'm wondering if maybe the onsite distribution center is just getting up and running.
  7. I recently learned that Accu-blend offers their waxes for sale directly from their plant in CA. Here's the webpage - http://calcandlesupply.com/All-Natural-Container-Blends_c7.htm You can find their olive oil blend and coconut blends as well as a few other unique blends. You can buy in 1 slab increments, not just pallets - yay!
  8. Maybe here? http://www.ewhannas.com/wood_flatware.htm
  9. http://www.thecandlemakersstore.com/category/jars.tumblers/ These definitely aren't dupes for the Madison jar but they are tumblers with a madison type lid and significantly cheaper. I don't know about quality or anything, just happened to stumble on them one day.
  10. Awesome!! Doesn't it feel good to stand back and and just look at 'em sometimes? :smiley2: I love that feeling of accomplishment. You have such GREAT colors!! Would you mind sharing what kind of dyes you use and where you get them? If not..no worries. I just get frustrated with colors sometimes, it seems the only way I can get the color I'm looking for is to blend it myself with liquid dyes and then it never seems that I can consistently recreate the exact color from batch to batch.
  11. The cotton wicks carried by Peak are Bruce's cotton wicks from Wicks Unlimited in case you're familiar. I think they're great! BCN also carries them and I think there's a couple other places but can't remember right now. They have the colored thread which I love love love.
  12. I've found that LX wicks have a tendency for producing tall flames, especially in paraffin pillars. If you're looking for another type of wick to try, I would go for flat braid wicks, a 24 or 27 would be a good starting point. I've had better flame stability and control with the flat braids than the LX. Good luck and let us know how it goes! btw...the CS guidelines usually come in on the high side for me too.
  13. I have no experience with this scent but I've heard Sweetcakes is supposed to be pretty good (if you're willing to pay the high price). Here's their description: Oakmoss Fragrance Oakmoss is a perfumery classic, prized for both its staying power and the earthy, foresty note it imparts (one Sweet Cakes customer described our Oakmoss as "all the scents of the forest rolled into one"). Add a dash of oakmoss to florals and men's blends for a touch of woodsy mystery; equal parts of oakmoss, lavender, and patchouli make an incredible men's blend. They've posted an fo blend for "Lancelot" which includes oakmoss, amber, sandalwood, and spruce garland that sounds intriguing. Good luck with your hunt!
  14. I'm not sure if WSP gets their clamshells from Impact or not but wanted to share that I get a plastic smell from them. :-( It's too bad because I really like the unique shape they offer.
