  1. About this Strawberry Lily..I could not find it at Peaks..Did I miss understand? Just wanting to know, as I am trying to get together some supplies to try my first soaps..
  2. I can tell you about bubblegum..I use Golden Brands 415 100% soy..and it was not good in my soy..but I know other soys can work different with the same FO..But I did not even like it out of bottle..but that might just be me.. Everyone has a different since of smell..HTH some..
  3. Just a question, on how do gauge your candle jar lids... I buy mine from Fairway glass, and I love the looks of them.. But you really have to be careful to not pick up the jars by the lid. Even my 10 oz. size I don't like to pick it up by the lid as you never know when the lid is going to come off. Do any of you have this problem? Or is this common? If not do any of you know a good supplier of jars in Calif. or close? I just don't want a customer to pick up a 16 oz. jar and the lid come off and drop and hurt their foot or something.. I would like to know how you all address this..lid thing.. Your comments and help are appreciated..
  4. Mine looked more like the first candle..the wick just were disappering..I hit the tops with my heat gun, and then took just a little out with pipette..I checked them today and they look like brand new..But that does worry me, about trying to make up a good supply ahead of time..
  5. I read this post, I am doing some experimenting with adding palm to my 100% soy..the last batch I made I added almost 1/2 & 1/2 of soy and palm..I still did not get any crystleing on top..So It must take almost to total palm candle to make those crystles.
  6. I live in Calif. But they have always been stored in my house..I try to keep my house temp. around 75 to 79 degrees..that is what I have my thermostat at. But we have been having some strange weather..so who knows..I just heat gunned the top of 2 and took off just a small amount with a pipette, and they look like they will be fine.. thanks for the replies..I will say when I took the lids off some of them,,they smelled so good and strong..a really good CT
  7. I had some candles stored in a card board box with dividers.. I was getting them out, and it looked like some of them had expanded, the wax had grew and almost was covering the wicks... when I had made them and cut the wicks they were all at the proper height..Has this happened to you, and what do you do?
  8. I have never smelled the FO you ladies are talking about...but when I read this post I thought of this FO from Flickers..I have it, and when one of you discribed it being very earthy, this is what came to my mind...because that is exactly what I think when I smell this..HTH some.. Exotic Amazon Teakwood A very sophisticated scent with tropical notes of the rain forest highlighted by apple, bamboo, pine needles and leafy greens. In the center of this delightful fragrance you will find luscious green mosses, fir and balsam, spruce, teakwood and fresh cut cedar. All of this blanketing a subtle base of amber, musk, patchouli and mysore sandalwood. This oil performed like a gem in soy and gave excellent scent throw after only 12 hours of cure time. I love this oil, very high dollar smell, very sophisticated spa type.
  9. I think I like the name lard better too..
  10. LOL.. I went on the Etsy Site to order a log mold from Paul ...There was only one left.. I put it in the check out..but then realized I had to register..buy the time I had that taken care of it was sold.. So I want to know who was the lucky person that snaged it? And to make real clear..I am not MAD It just makes me happy, that they must be really good molds..
  11. I must say you have nothing to be ashamed of with those soaps.. They are just lovely..
  12. You know I did say that wrong..I ment salt bar..lol Thanks for bringing that to my attention.. anyway her soaps are wonderful..
  13. Flickers Raspberry Choc. swirl does real well in 415.. It smells really good too:D
  14. I wanted to clue you all in on something I found today.. And maybe you already know.. But I found several types of oils today,, Almond, Sunflower,& Grapeseed at Marshell's.. Almond and Sunflower was 16 oz. for $4.99 Grapeseed was 33 oz. for $7.99 They are in cans that are sealed.. All are food safe.. Are these the right type of oils that I can use to make Soaps? Does it sound like good prices.. They had other types too, but I wanted to ask here before I bought to much..
  15. I have only ever had 3 bars of homemade soap..So I know that I am not an attority on soaps.. But I must say of the 3 I have tried, my favoite is a salt bar.. Do you sell your soap Meridith? Am I supposed to ask that question here?
  16. So Far I have tested in my GB 415 Oatmeal Cinnamon Crunch Bar...Has a Good HT..I really like the smell, and so far everyone that has tested for me likes it also. Redwood & Cedar...Has a Good HT..I just love this one.. I have not gave this one out to my testers yet.. I only made one.. Pumpkin Custard Spice..Has a Good HT, I don't know if it smells up my whole house, But I really like it..I only made one of this also, So have not gave out to my testers.. Fig & Melon..Has a Med. HT..But it has something about the smell that I really like..and I can't quite put my finger on what the smell it is.. It will fill up a good size room with a good HT Bayberry..Had a Med. HT also, but I personally didn't care to much for the FO..But It could be completely different in another type of wax.. Creme Brulee..Has a very good HT, and it smells very very good.. Apple Dumpling..Has a Med. HT..but smells good..but there again it may do great in another wax.. Pineapple...I did not care for this in my wax..but it was strong.. I know that alot of you candle makers use a 50 50 blend, and from what I have read about in your post,,you seem to get a better HT than I do in my 100% soy..And it seems you don't have to cure are long.. I must say that Bert has some really good oils..and they mostly all smell very good OOB..So that tells me that they would most likely do well in other waxes..But my wax is just a hard wax to get any suppliers FO to work well in.. If any of you come up with a better way to get a Good HT let me know... I just love her oils, and the price is great too.. I have bought very expensive oils and have had less HT throw than hers.. So I guess Price really does not always mean that it is better.. Hope I have been a help to someone..
  17. Thanks for updateing..I guess we just have to pick a wax and work our way thru, getting it to work for us..
  18. Thanks for all the input.. I hadn't knowticed the co-op..I'll check that out.. The other sources too.. I had stated I wanted to make, Emulsified Body Butter Salt Bar Soap Shortening & Shea Body Soap and I need everything from the stick beater to the mask..and everything inbetween:D So that is the reason I have to spend wisely..
  19. I live in Calif..I do have some FO's that might work..But I need everything else...I have been doing alot of checking on different websites, for supplies..But just wanted opinions of what would be best..I know $300. sounds like alot..but when you have to buy everything, that money has to go along ways.
  20. I have about $300.00 to spend on Bath & Body Supplies..I have never make soap or any thing other than candles..I want to spend it very carefully.. I have 2 of the #4 Do Right Molds. I want to made Salt bars, I want the thick and chunky bars,.. the Shortening & Shea Sudsy Soap recipe that was posted on this forum, & the Emulsified Body Butter..that was also posted on this forum.. Now my question...to you that has experiance,,do you think these recipes are to advanced for a beginner? What would your advice be for a supplier that I can get most of this in one place. What type of mold do I need for these large size soaps.. Hope I am not asking to many questions..lol But I really want to get off on the right foot... Thanks in advance..for any and all help...
  21. It is a scent that will grow on you..the more you smell it the better you like it..I use it in my candles..It does need to cure a little longer than normal,,but it is well worth it..I don't know about the other company's flowerbomb..but flickers sure smell good to me..It is really hard to decribe the scent. If anyone makes it in soap I sure would like to know, how it does..
  22. I Just love this scent..And was wondering how it does in Soap..I know the web site says it does well in Soap..But just thought I would ask, you ladies, who make soap..if you have used it..
  23. I would'nt compain to much..they look great to me.. I am sure there are others just like me..lol ..that just wish they could make some look like that.. I love the looks of the chunked one.. I bet the VBN smells wonderful...I just love that FO...
