  1. I am glad that I read about this here because if someone would have given me one of these wax dipped TP I would have thought it had to be a gag gift. I am glad you all are selling these but for the life of me I don't get it. I really would never purchase something like that but I think it is great that someone took the chance and they actually sell. You never know what people will like!
  2. I envy you ladies! I love the scent of chocolate but I can never sell any chocolate scented products. Women complain that it makes them hungry. I make a few just for myself. FOH mentioned above is wonderful.
  3. Perfect answer and one of my favorite Bob Dillon songs:thumbsup:
  4. Marvelous darlin!!!! Love the color! I've noticed that also about the wax. Some colors I get much finer patterns and other colors produce a different look.
  5. Well I've definitely had a wick catch up on the sides after it's 1/2 way down in a container this size. I don't find a 3 inch container to be that large but I've never had 1/8 or 1/4 inch of wax left on the sides. I was refering to a much smaller amount left on the sides of my containers with the first few burns. I do agree that larger sizes in the LX make the wax a mess.
  6. JMO here I never got any wick other than a VERY large size to totally melt all of the wax from the sides on the first few burns. I didn't like the really large wicks because they tend to smoke alot, at least in my testing they did. Most of the time with a smaller size wick I had some wax on the sides until the candle burned down past the middle. If I used a very large wick to get every little bit of wax from the sides right from the start the size of the flame was huge and really caused problems as the candle burned down. When using some of the very large sizes I got black soot when the candle burned past the middle. This was a major problem with the larger RRD's and the flame size on the large LX's was HUGE! I think a lot depends on the type of wax you are using in the container. I tested one wax that burned more down than out to the sides. So I would end up with melt pools that were too deep but not reaching all the way to the sides of the container. When testing another wax I didn't have that problem. To me it was a trade off on which feature was more important because I never could get pefect results. Still cheering you on Natty!
  7. I never wanted to post a topic concerning this because I was also afraid it was just me that had that problem from Tenn. I really liked several of the FO's I purchased out of the bottle. They smelled strong enough and I thought they would work well. They didn't, not a good throw in my wax no matter how long I cured them. I still have a few and may try a candle or two again. I was so surprised because so many people seem to like them but for me they just didn't produce enough throw. At least not what I am use to in my wax with other FO's.
  8. That is just too cute!!! I've heard of a pink elephant but never a pink frog. He is adorable!!! How nice to be so talented and clever!!!
  9. Just want to make sure I haven't gotten lost here...you are double wicking a 3inch diameter container?
  10. I wish I were half as talented as you are at making those. Your photo is very nice and I love your colors!
  11. I tried the EL modifer with the EZ a few years ago. At first it seemed to help some with the frosting. After the candles were stored for a few weeks the frosting came creeping back. The wax may be EZ but it frost like mad. If anyone can stop that without making the wax too hard and changing it totally I would love to know how.
  12. Glad you like them!! There were photos were someone burned one and one from another candle company and didn't trim the wicks and they produced soot. In my experience any candle that the wick is not trimmed can produce black soot. Soy produces a lighter color but it can still soot. Of course the type of container used and even some FO's are more prone to soot issues. They may have changed their sale approach and maybe they do have an excellent product. I was just turned off from the former way(if that is the case)of the way they did things. I prefer to make my own candles.
  13. I use to lurk on the old message board here and I believe the post are archive. There was a ton of information about them on the former board. I tried to do a search in the archive to paste some of the links but they never would display any results. There was one that was very interesting from a former seller of the Mia Bella candles that had challenged them on there marketing and discription of the candle wax. I believe the person had received a legal threat to stop posting certain information on his site about MB. He sent the wax off to a lab for testing. I wish I could find that post. At that time I didn't care for their business approach and the lack of honesty about their all natural candles. Maybe it was just the way some of the sellers decided to market their products but they were spreading false information about how their candles NEVER produced soot and that other candles were dangerous for the customer health. I don't know if they still do that or not but I have no respect for that type of sales approach. If the wax has a crystal like look it probably has palm in it and isn't just soy
  14. I am interested to hear the final results also. I've come to the conclusion that there is always something lacking in whatever wick I try. Just like KandleKrazy said, if I get a perfect melt pool in just the right amount of time for my container that wick might have some mushrooming or it might smoke a little. If I use a wick that doesn't produce mushrooming then the melt pool might not be what I would like or the hot throw isn't as good as another type of wick. I have yet to make or purchase a perfect candle. It is always a trade off in one or more areas. We can get as close to perfect as possible and keep striving for perfection but there is always just one little thing that could be better.
  15. You might want to post your question in the General Candle forum.:smiley2:
  16. I've used the LX wicks and I have noticed just a bit of a curl but nothing like the CD's I tested. I certainly don't mean to insult you by asking what I am about to. I didn't know this when I first started making candles and I actually made this mistake. Are you using a spool wick or the pre-tab wicks like we use in our container candles? Someone had suggested a wick for my pillar and just assumed it was the pre-tab wicks. Never gave it any thought, if I would have I would have noticed that Pillars you buy in the store aren't made with pre-tab wicks. So I made several candles and my wicks kept buning off center because I never could get the tab flat enough against the base of the pillar. A very nice person informed me of what I was doing wrong. Boy the mistakes I have made.:rolleyes2
  17. You would think with my user name I would think those are far out or groovy. Well, I think I would like to see one in person just because it seems different but to be honest it isn't something I would purchase more than once. Old hippies conform to society and our taste change. I don't even like patchouli!
  18. Unfortunately that is one of the comments that will ultimately be uttered by someone no matter how much you sell a product for. They see those huge jar candles at Wally World for $5.00 and think others should sell for that price. I think your prices are fair. What I think really determines your selling price is how much is the product costing you to make. That includes adding in the shipping cost for each item you use, wax, containers, wicks, labels. If you order from several suppliers that really adds up. Plus your electricity, time involved and if you print your own labels the ink. I once added up all the cost for a product I made and realized I was making less than .50 cent per item. Not worth it! I think the price you have in mind is very fair. I was selling my 8oz wickless for 6.50 but with the price increase lately by most suppliers I will be raising my prices also.
  19. You added 1 1/2 tablespoons? Just curious as to why you picked this amount since it was mentioned that some had problems with amounts higher than the suggested 1/2 tablespoon.
  20. I was thinking the same thing about it being beautiful with a small tea light burning inside. I bet that would produce a pretty glow! If your making it for yourself and you like the candle burning that way then you should stick with it. Since you asked for opinions I would rather see it with a tea light inside, if that is even possible. If I burned it the way it is shown in the photo it would bug me because I would feel I am wasting most of the wax. JMO It is a very pretty candle and I love your colors!
  21. I agree with Stella, my candles or anyone else candles would like that if the wicks weren't trimmed. Many times the photographer is not the actual person that makes the candles. Especially with big companies, they have pros. to do the photography. However, I am sure they had to give a final ok for those photos. In that case they should have insisted on photos after their candles had a full melt pool with trimmed wicks. Nothing wrong with being proud of our work but I think sometimes we can be a bit too critical of the competion. Yes, many of the major candle companies do have candles that are of poor quality but many are really a good product. I've purchased poorly made candles from the big guys and I've gotten some terrible ones that were not centered, tunneled, sink holes...that were handcrafted. It was certainly a poor choice of photo on the manufacture part.
  22. Very pretty!! Perfect summer colors.
  23. It looks like the wicks haven't been trimmed in the first place. It would be interesting to know if after doing so if they burn correctly.
  24. Oops, I hope no one reads the strong cold throw thing that had never thought of that and tries it. It would be decitful.
  25. Good point Top! I've had to throw out some of my soap oils because of expired dates. Still wondering how the odor of OO would mix with FO in a candle. It works ok for soap so maybe a candle would be the same?
