  1. After trying several different labels, I settled on the 2x4 Avery rectangular labels for my 9 oz. oval hex jars. Stella, I appreciate the site. I'm considering ordering several sheets of the oval labels and trying those. At this point, it can't hurt. Thanks for the help. Rena
  2. I use the Avery business cards (27881) for these and template # 8371. Rena
  3. I'm getting desperate here. We've purchased the 16 oz. melting pot jars from the jar store to add to our candle line. I've got the wick testing down and am ready to start pouring, but can't find a label to fit the jar. I've tried every size I can think of with no luck. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm open for anything, at this point. My only other alternative is to have a label specially made for it, and am hoping to avoid that, if possible. TIA for any and all help. Rena
  4. Hey Candybee! Wish I could help you out on the soap part, but have only tried the Iced Gingerbread in candles so far. I use Eco 135 and at .5 oz. pp, it knocks your socks off. I'm seriously thinking about dropping my current gingerbread and replacing it with this one. It's truly excellent! Rena
  5. Pouring up some new scents; Pumpkin Cheesecake, Tropic of Cancer, Red Velvet Cake, Herbes de Provence, Nag Champa & Downy's Lavender Vanilla. Also got a sample of Iced Gingerbread from Southern Soapers. OMG it's scrumptious! Can't wait to get it poured up. Wishing lots of luck to those with shows this weekend!!! Rena
  6. The liner is holding up great, so far. Just turned out another batch yesterday and it seems to be getting better with each use. The first time I used it, the liner looked liked it wanted to peel up, but not since. I'm really loving this method .
  7. Waiting for UPS delivery myself. He'll be bringing some new additions to my already overcrowded fo shelves :embarasse . A special order batch of Frosted Pink Cupcake soap to knock out. OMH lotion to make and possibly another batch of shea butter/emu oil. Other than that, I've got orders to pack for shipping and a few more samples to pour up. BCS's Holiday Wassail is looking to be one of my new holiday scents . Loving this OOB. Rena
  8. Bulgarian Lavender eo is my hottest lotion. I've been playing with several blends, but haven't decided whether I'll use them in lotion. Your Lavender Lemongrass blend sounds lovely. Rena
  9. I do my infusions in quart masons, filling the jar about 1/4 of the way with dried herb and the remainder with oil. A bit more herb won't hurt but certainly isn't neccesary. As to my recipe, I've tried several with the Jewelweed to test for effectiveness, including high co and/or lard recipes. Neither myself nor my customers found any difference in the performance of the Jewelweed, so I've stuck with my favorite base recipe and the soap's performance speaks for itself. Best of luck to you with your Jewelweed soap and remember, your infused oil will work nicely in Jewelweed sticks as well. Rena
  10. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm going to whip up a small batch with the eo's I have on hand and if that doesn't work for him, I'll order out the blend to try. Rena
  11. Thank you for the kind words, Anita . I'm so happy ya'll have enjoyed it. Rena
  12. Being highly allergic to poison ivy, I can say that it helps with the itching, as well as drying it up. I lather it up, pat the lather thickly on the PI patches and let it dry. We've also been told by several of our customers that it's excellent for itchy insect bites as well. Being here in La., home of the 'killer mosquitos', wasn't hard to test that one, and it does work. Rena
  13. DH has been driving me batty for the past few days wanting a Citronella lotion to combat the killer mosquitos at work. I've been reading and searching but have come across conflicting info, as to whether Citronella should be used alone. I'm considering a blend of Citronella, Lavender & Lemongrass since this is only for his use. Anyone think this may be enough to suit his needs and quiet him down :rolleyes2 ? I'm open to any and all opinions/suggestions, at this point. Rena
  14. I make my Jewelweed soap using infused oil (from dried Jewelweed) and I also add a bit of extra infused oil before dumping in my mold. Haven't yet tried a salve though I do, on occasion make Jewelweed lotion sticks. They sell, but not remotely as well as the soap. Rena
  15. I've soaped Quiet Girl's recipe with the new Crisco and it came out beautifully. I couldn't tell the difference, actually. Rena
  16. I've been using the new version with no change whatsoever. Rena
  17. For candles it will be Lavender and Spiced Orange. Soapwise, I'll be doing Sandlawood Patchouli and Water Blossom Ivy. Otherwise, will be delivering a few orders Saturday and hopefully, that will be it.
  18. Oh, I'm not ready to think about Christmas yet, and here's my biggest retail customer calling me, wanting to place her order for 50, $25-$30 gift baskets. If this is a sign of what the upcoming holiday season is gonna be like this year, WHOO HOOOOO .
  19. I'd love to be able to use the Uplands or Kelsei's. I've read so many good things about them, but unfortunately, my bars are a bit bigger than those produced by most molds and my customers weren't happy when I mentioned moving to a more conventional sized bar.
  20. Well, back after unmolding log #2. Everything worked smoothly excepting the same stubborn side, as before so I'm thinking he may not have put as good a layer there as one the other pieces. So now we know what he'll be doing this weekend. But otherwise, I'm so happy to have come across that post. This sure beats the heck out of lining molds. BTW, anyone ever try using the craft foam. I'd like to give that method a try also, but have no idea which type of foam to use. Rena
  21. I was a bit confused on this one myself, but DD took one look at it and now has visions of spiced X-mas ornaments and maybe adding some to bowls of fall/holiday spiced potpourri. Now she's got me thinking. Like I need another project :rolleyes2 . Rena
  22. Yes, by applying thin, even coats, he was able to keep it smooth. I told him if this batch is successful, his spare time will be taken up with mold-making for awhile .
  23. DH just turned his hand to making his first soap mold and since I'd been following this thread on the Dish, I naturally couldn't help pointing it out to him . Imagine my surprise when he ended up buying everything needed and methodically siliconed the mold. I made one batch with it and being a 'virgin' mold, expected a bit of sticking (I do HP.) I was suprised that all but one side came away clean and that only needed a bit of firm nudging. The log was perfect. I have a batch cooking at this moment to give it a second try. Will post back tomorrow when I got for the second attempt at unmolding. Rena
  24. I use 4 oz. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and 3.0 ml of fragrance mixture. The fragrance mixture is a 50/50 blend of fragrance oil and DPG. HTH Rena
