  6. Well I'm gonna chime in here and say that I think this board is wonderful and I take all the advice I can get. I haven't been in this long and the only candles that I have sold are a few scents in containers and pillars that I have tested tested and tested some more. I will not sell a candle that I have not tested the fo, wick, for hangups or blowouts, etc . You just can't test a couple of containers, or pillars or any candle and say, woohoo now I've got some good candles and I'm going into business. I sell more aroma beads than anything as I haven't tested all the FOs that I've got. If anything has my name on it that I have made, I want a quality product that I know will pass the safety standard. I don't want to be responsible for someone losing their life, house or possessions because of my carelessness. Everything that has been said on here is just good common sense, and most have been in this a long time, long enough to know what they are talking about. You cannot test enough products in a couple weeks or a month and think you can have a full fledged business with enough products tested to make it. When I ask for an opinion, if I get a bad one or good, I take it all into consideration and don't get defensive, I accept this advice as most on here know a thousand fold more than I do about this and I am glad for the great opinions I get, good or bad. Nuff said on my part.
  7. Those are all great.. I love the texture of those....Great job.
  8. First welcome to the board. and as for wax everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I'd recommend getting a starter kit from Peaks or some other supplier. And this is not a get rich quick thing. When I first started I thought that all you do was buy wax, FO, color, wicks etc melt and pour and waala perfect candle and boy was I in for a rude awakening. You have to read, read and do more reading, then test test and do more testing, and believe me the testing is really crutcial. This is a slow process, as each wax, container, votive, and pillar have to be tested, even each FO that you try will have to be tested. I hope this makes sense. If I'm wrong on this someone please chime in and help out here. Again welcome to the board.
  9. Don't know anything about soy, but just wanted to welcome you to the board....You'll find a wealth of info on here and some really great chandlers that can give you a lot help. Again welcome.
  10. nothing at all. Caught up on everything and I have just about pulled my hair out trying to make a mottle, so gonna rest my brain. I have tried straight paraffin, paraffin with mineral oil, paraffin with steric acid, paraffin with mineral oil and steric acid and got one partial and I mean partial mottle out of all these experiments....aggghhh so time to let the brain cells reconnect over the weekend.
  11. Wowzers Donita, that is beautamus......:highfive:
  12. wowzer love the wave thing and the colors:D .....now you've got me wanting to try that again. But I'm trying to get the science of the mottle going right now... and ain't doing too good of job of it....

  19. I agree, you can but what kind of scents are you gonna put together? Might smell great, then again might smell like heaven knows what, and I sure wouldn't try to sell them. JMO
  20. Those are great candles and love the way the labels look, but I agree that the name and then "scented with" is kind of confusing. JMO
