  1. Those tins are amazing ! do you think they will sell them in asda since they are part of the walmart family ?
  2. Are there any ways of marbling candles without using liquid dye ? Hope someone can help me. thanks
  3. Well yesterday i made the candle that fingernailed alot and put it in the fridge, then this morning i melted it back up and repoured it. Unfortunately i dont have a thermometer (i know i really should get one) It just looks cracked it hasnt fallen apart (well not yet anyway), i will burn it tonight and tell you if it burns ok later.
  4. I didnt leave them in the fridge or freezer, i made the votive but it had lots of findernailing all over it, i remelted it and it came out like that. Has anyone figered out why fingernailing occurs yet ?
  5. I just made a votive and it came out with a sort of cracked effect. you can see a picture of it HERE Hopefully someone can explain to me why this is happening.
  6. thanks for your answers will try it in a tight fitting holder tommorow, by the way, totally different but is there any way of getting your wax to mottle a but without using special wax, being in the uk it is almost impossible for me to get a wax that mottles.
  7. I have made a few votives and am just testing them, they arent in a tight holder but i feel that the wax is melting too quickly for my liking and spilling all over the place. Is there anything i can do about this, i buy my wicks from ebay they are pretabbed and are 2.5" long and are made from 44-24-18 zinc-cored wick 2 1/2" wicks.
  8. As some of you may no i was making candles for my business studies trade fair, the trade fair was today and it was a great sucess, we made over £150 thats like $300. I would just like to thank this forum becuase without it we probably wouldnt have made anywhere near that amount. thank you
  9. You guys are so lucky, the only wax i can use is plain old parrafin wax. Never made votives before but i ordered some votive moulds and wick pins (at an extremely high price may i add), hopefully they will come out ok, p.s i dont have a thermometer would it be a good thing to buy one ? Sorry to just barge in on your post.
  10. Thats the thing there is no draft at all in the room, there arent any windows open at all (i know you shouldnt do that but its late).
  11. I think i will sell holders as well as the candles, also another thing thats hapening now is its sort or swaying like someones blowing it from a distance is this becuase of the wick im using ? or the way i made it ?
  12. Ok i put the candle into a sort of votive holder just came back to it now and the wax has melted in the hoder if you get what i mean, that is fine but i dont want my customers to have wax all down their fireplace or whatever they are putting their candles on so what should i do to ensure they out the candle into a proper holder ?
  13. Well i lit one 2 hours ago and it lighted fine has a fairly moderate melt pool and smells great, bot seen any blobbed wax yet but will post my findings later
  14. Still using the same old wax and crayons but i did buy some wicks on ebay and also some votive molds that are being shipped to me tommorow Am still looking for a good/cheap supplier in the uk though. btw - dont know weather this is the right place to post it but a website that my friend is making for the trade fair can be seen at www.candelaonline.co.uk
