  1. I use all the same garb now as when I made my first soap a year ago. Goggles, gloves, long sleeves, etc.
  2. You really need to learn the fine art of patience w/ soap making. Obviously a skill these folks haven't acquired quite yet!
  3. Here are some containers: http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=44948&cat=1,43326 That is what I used~~but ended up buying the 1 oz tins from WSP to hold the sample wax because the ones that come w/ the box above didn't have a tight fit and would lose scent. The WSP tins fit in the boxes perfectly.
  4. I have to go with CS Rainwater, too. And Peak's Ocean.
  5. This is a neat site I found this morning. Every time you refresh the page a different computer generated recipe comes up. They haven't been tested, but I thought it was kind of cool for inspiration http://soap.ramified.org/
  6. Hi there and welcome! For ideas, have you checked out the Tutorials? http://www.craftserver.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40 Sorry I can't help w/ suppliers, but good luck and have fun!
  7. Talking strictly as a buyer since I don't sell anymore, I think the free product is a really good idea, and one that always catches my eye. Can't speak for everyone, but I'm the consumer type that will spend a couple extra dollars to get that free product
  8. Pink Sugar and Cinnamon Buns~~the best out there for these 2 fragrances IMO Casaba Mist~~a very strong and clean scent French Vanilla and Amber~~another strong one Ocean~~a few months ago someone sent me a soap she made w/ this and I had to get me some, it smells wonderful! Botanical Orchard and Nectar~~normally I don't like real sweet fragrances, but I like this one. Sweet but not too sweet. Mac Apple~~very true, smells like a juicy, crunchy fresh apple. Also great mixed with cinnamon. Sorry I don't know about the Patchouli, but I'm interested in any comments too.
  9. Update on the scent~~after going on 3 1/2 weeks the rubber note has mellowed, but my nose can still detect it. I'm giving it another 3 weeks or so cure to see if it goes away completely (fingers crossed). Next on the list is SC Coconut that I bought from the classies a couple months ago lol!
  10. Yes, they are legit. I sent in a sample box last spring. They do follow through on their claims. It was a fun thing to do, and you can write it off as marketing at the end of the year
  11. I agree~~I've soaped a few of Peak's oils, too, and this is the first one that hasn't turned out to my liking. DH says it just smells like 'soap' lol. I'll give it a couple more weeks and see then.
  12. I soaped a coconut/crisco/tallow recipe a few days ago and I'm getting kind of a rubber tire smell here. FO is at .7 oz ppo. Also added a couple oz of coconut milk at trace (actually I skimmed the fat off the top of the can). The soap is fine, I'm using a soap ball at the kitchen sink (and the lather is nice, creamy, and awesome lol). You can smell the coconut, but there's a rubbery smell to it, too. Anyone that's soaped this, did it morph on you? I can't find anything at the soap scent review. TIA
  13. I use bamboo skewers for a little swirly effect. And I agree where a little additives go a long way. A couple weeks ago I made a 3# batch and only added 1/2 tsp of ground coriander, and it ended up being more of a mild exfoliation than just the interest that I wanted it.
  14. Yep, the 6006 went way up to almost $100! I hadn't realized how much it had gone up, and I was shocked to see that much of an increase when I went to order some. At least we saved on shipping~~DH picked it up from Candlescience. Hopefully it will go down soon when the suppliers go to order more.
  15. Yep--well, if you mean smudgeproof, anyways. I used to use the clear labels, and printed them on an inkjet printer. DH would spray them (outside on the porch--the fumes stink!), and they turned out really nice. I used Krylon crystal clear acrylic spray.
  16. For your Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, have you tried CS' Hansel and Gretel's house? To me this smells just like an Oatmeal cookie
  17. Now it's all play. Broke but having a ball lol.
  18. I don't sell anymore, but I put 'soy blend candles' on my labels(6006). ETA: Highly recommend the IGI 6006~~awesome wax
  19. This is how I do it. It pretty much comes down to what you prefer~~not that one way is better than the other.
  20. AJ & P, Violet Lime~~turned out very nice. Both strong at 0.7 oz ppo. Could probably go lower w/ the Violet Lime :smiley2:
  21. Had a ball w/ these molds, plus used some FOs from the classies, and dyes from Celestial Colors. First is my veggie recipe, with Safari type fo~~smells so good! And is pretty much kicking Green Irish Tweed's ass :smiley2: Dyed w/ a base of Green Grass, and swirled ITP w/ Cappucino. To die for! Then the first half of my tallow batch is Mint Mango Tea. But I grabbed the Strawberry dye instead of the Sweet Potato :lipsrseal Last is the other half of the tallow batch, undyed and scented w/ Bayberry. Christmas, pure and simple. Going to try a couple more batches, but I think a small log mold is definitely in the future!
  22. Absolutely, unequivocably, and w/out a doubt. The best :smiley2:
