The hot glue can be cleaned out without much trouble. Once you pour out the remaining wax you can wipe it off with a paper towel. It's pretty liquidy (is that a word?) while its still warm. If it's cold and solid just sit it on a candle warmer for a few minutes. I do it all the time. HTH

Dana...it that the wax that comes in the heavy plastic bag with a consistancy (sp) of vaseline? The number sounds familiar to me. If that's the wax I'm thinking of...I've used it...it smokes big time. It's not the wicks it's the wax.

After yesterday, I would say it's a big Thumbs UP for 444. I think the larger candles just needed a little extra cure time. I had 4 different scents going, at different times, throughout the day and they all had a great HT. I'm still amazed at how smooth the tops are with this wax even after it's been burning. I'm a happy camper for sure!

The wicks I'm using are the Fil-tech Ultra Core. I really like the way they burn. No curl (lopsided melt pools drive me nuts) very little mushrooming, if any and a nice steady flame. I used them and the Premier 700's in the little votives that are scenting up the whole bedroom. I do have the CD's and CDN's. I'll dig up the 'ole 8oz Mason jars and try them in there. My fingers are crossed.

Hi Kemmeroo, Everytime I thought I had made a decision on this wax...I changed my mind.:undecided That's why I haven't posted anything yet. I love the way it sets up. I've poured 6 or 7 jars. All looked perfect but most of them had a very faint CT. That was using 6% per lb. HT wasn't any better. I used mostly proven throwers with my 415 and 464. I openned 2 jars this morning that had been sitting for 5 days. CS Banana Nut Bread @ 7%. Very strong CT. I'll burn them later tonight to check for HT. Now this next part I really don't understand. Since I only had 10lbs to work with and wanted to test more FO's, I started to pour directly into the little 2oz metro votive jars that WalMart sells. After a 2 day cure I put 2 in my bedroom which is 13'x15' with a cathedral ceiling. Filled the entire room with scent. I made a 3.25" dia. candle duplicating everything exactly (temp. for adding fo, pouring temp, etc.) using the same "brand" wick sized correctly for the larger container and got very poor results. Do the larger candles need a longer cure time? The same fo's that throw beautifully in the votives are barely noticable in the larger ones. What's up with that? I guess what all of this boils down to is...the verdict's still out. All suggestions are happily welcomed.

Oh Kimmmeroo...now I'm gonna be flipping through channels for the rest of the day looking for that informercial...lol. I'm tempted to buy one just to see how it burns. The Fil-tech wicks are used commercially. Maybe those? Stella...thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll wait on fighting that jar again. But I will keep it in mind.

Hi Beth I have those warmers also. I use a lamp dimmer that I bought at Home Depot. The kind you use for table lamps. It has a slide control that will give you a whole range of temperatures. HTH

I have those jars and never could get them wicked to my liking. I wonder if the 444 would be easier than the 415 to wick? Stella...If I were to use 1 CDN which would you recommend. I have 12's through 20's.

Hi Mike I did a google search for mottled soy and a few things came up. This is part of one that I found Wholesale candlemaking supplies, Natures Garden candlemaking ...100% all-natural soy wax. This wax is for container candles. Environmentally friendly, burns clean, burns evenly. Candles have a natural mottled look on top ... www.naturesgardencandles.com/mas_assets/ngc/www/import/class-5.htm - 30k - It starts out here saying 100% soy but the description of the wax says it's pariffin. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I'm so glad you're getting good results right off the bat. UPS won't get here until late this afternoon so I'm doing all I can to have patience. Just for my own curiosity I'm going to use a FO that didn't do very well in the old stuff. I want to know if the 444 does better with HT. For my proven throwers...well, I'm having hard time deciding which one I want to use. I have a feeling this 10lbs. is going to go pretty quick. I wasn't able to see the pic's of the 415. Hmmm. At least you got a picture posted. I haven't figured that out yet. Maybe someone else here can help us out. Looks like we have another tester for 444. Hi wicked1. Let us know how it's going for you. The gb 464 is easier to burn when it's cold. In the summer I did 50/50 464/415. I was due for buying more wax so I decided to go with the gb 444 and give up on the mixing. I hope I made the right choice.

Maybe we can experiment together. My 444 should be here tomorrow. I've used 464 and 415. The 464 didn't quite have the HT I was looking for but was easy to wick. The 415...well, I just don't have the patience to wait for the slushy stage and had trouble wicking it. I'm hoping the 444 will be somewhere in between. Would you mind sharing what size wicks you're trying in the Mason Jar? I used a RRD 50 when pouring the 464 and a RRD 37 with JJ's. Tomorrow I'll be trying the Premier 700 series with the 444. I must be crazy. New wax AND new wicks. Scheech...I hope I'm still standing at the end of the day. :undecided Sorry I can't help with the USA. Someone who knows way more than I can help with that.

I've always used RRD's and Cottons because of the centered burn. I don't mind the mushrooms. They were easier to deal with than the off centered burn of CD's. Now here comes the "but"...I found some really neat glasses locally that are 3 and 1/4" wide at the top with a very gradual slope to maybe 2 and 7/8" at the bottom. The largest size RRD and Cotton just isn't cutting it. I want to try the CDN's again but can't remember if they bend towards the upwards V or downwards. If anyone has any tricks of the trade on how you place them please share it with me. Should I off-set it in the glass or just center it. I don't know why those V's stress me out so much but that's why I quit using them. Besides, I can't afford therapy over wick placement. lol TIA

Welcome to the board! :highfive: If it's easier for you (and I think in the beginning it would be) start with just one 4oz. candle. Choose the FO you want to test and follow Stella's instructions on leaving the wick out. I let the candle cool and set up, then use a metal skewer to poke a hole all the way to the bottom. Add your wick and (if you have one) give it a quick zap of heat gun. Once you know which wick worked best for that FO, you can go on to the next one. HTH P.S. Remember to relax and have fun.

I like Candlebuddy's suggestions of Family Gathering and Country Holiday. Those are "comforting" sounding names to me. If I saw them on a jar, I'd have to open the lid to take a sniff.

Haning in there...it'll get better. :awww: I put my metal votive cups in the Freezer (not refrigerator...too impatient for that, lol) for no more than 4 minutes. I just use the timer on my stove. They usually pop right out after that. I gentle rap on the counter doesn't hurt either. HTH
