  1. gb 435 has cotton seed oil added if I'm remembering correctly.
  2. I agree :highfive: Snowtop has my vote.
  3. Willow...since you're familiar with the Peaks cotton wicks and RRD's could you tell me which size cotton would be equal to a RRD 40? That's the size I use the most so buying their sample pack seems like a waste of money for me. TIA...Arlene
  4. Thanks for posting your idea! :highfive: It's a great one.
  5. I guess that's Murphy's Law working it's magic. Whatever you order the least of you'll wind up liking the best! Glad to hear the EL Millenium is working out well. That makes 3 soy brands with short cure times and according to Willow, about a week for C-3. Let us know how the CB-135 works out.
  6. Thanks for doing this for all of us. :highfive: I printed it out and looks just fine. Now if someone could just explain to me how to use it, I'd be in great shape.
  7. When I re-read my question today (after some much needed sleep), I realized I was being to general with my wording. And this is strickly out of curiosity. Just one of those things that keeps bothering you 'cause you don't know the answer. If you start with the end results: 2 candles, different soys. After 2 weeks both have a great CT & HT. But candle A had those results after 24 hrs and candle B took 2 weeks to achieve the same. Does that make any sense? So with everything else being equal...best fo, % addeded, proper pouring temp for each of the soys, some will "cure" and produce good results sooner than others. Just wondered what results others were getting with the soys that they are using as far as "cure" time.
  8. I've tried Snowtop and GW 464 and they both have a pretty good throw within 24-48 hrs. I was wondering if there are any other soys that do the same. I did some searches on different soys but most of the info was on frosting, wet spots, etc. Not much on cure time and HT. Any opinions on other soys?
  9. Great idea. I would love to see it. Maybe someone will come along and help you with posting it.
  10. Congrats!! It's always good to hear success stories.
  11. I don't know if this is the same one that Carol K was referring to, but Saveonscents has one that I use called Good Fortune Prosperity. They list the scent description as: Cool, refreshing green tea accented with lilies and other white florals. Since I use Soy I got the Ultra Concentrate and it has a strong throw. HTH
  12. Bruce...Bruce...Bruce! You have no idea how happy you have made me. Sending a big Hug. :awww: Why, you're asking? I almost didn't read this post to begin with because I was so bummed about a recent purchase. I love using melts because of the strong throw but was disappointed that they weren't lasting long enough. (about 10 hrs) I was tired of buying tea-lites and wasn't thrilled about making them so I bought some warmers at Wal-Mart. They were OK but kind of weak (only 15 wts) and I didn't get the throw I did with the tea-lites. Soooo....I purchased some of Dani's candle warmers on the co-op that were 24 wts and planned on giving them out for Christmas with a selection of melts. Ofcourse I tested one first and it was way to hot! The scent burned off in just a few hours. I knew there had to be a way to modify the temp. I even thought of purchasing some of those ceramic rings that you put on a light bulb and add scent and placing them between the burner plate and melt dish. I thought that might bring the temp. down a bit. Then I read your post about the ones with a dimmer switch! Eureka!!! Every table lamp in my house is on one of those portable dimmer switches. The kind you plug in the wall and then plug your lamp into it and the control sits on the table. Am I making sense? I tried it and it works fantastically. Started out on high to melt and was able to adjust from 125* to 170* and anything in between. Love...love...love. It's almost 2am and I'm up making more melts! Can't wait to see how well this works. I am so excited about this I almost forgot to answer your original poll question. I use between 8 and 10% fo. I bet you didn't know your poll question would make someone so happy. lol Arlene
  13. Hi Tex...If you ever come across them, please, please post where you got them. About 4 years ago (at least) I bought 2 boxes containing 6 tea-lites each. They were retail so they contained wax and wick. I thought them seemed a little expensive but bought them anyway. When I openned the boxes, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were very deep. Yep, they are the 1 inch deep that you are talking about. They are clear plastic. I hold on to them like they are gold. They do last a long time. I've been refilling them ever since for my own use. I wish I could find someone selling just the containers since now I do my own candles but haven't had any luck. If I'm not mistaken, I bought them at Wal-Mart. Unfortunately I've never seen them there again.
  14. Thanks for your post Fern-Marie. Could you tell me what the wattage is on the electric warmer you're using. I have a few Wal-Mart warmers that are only 15 watts. They don't seem to warm the wax enough for a good throw. I would LOVE to get the results that you're getting. What soy wax did you find works best? I have GW464, Snowtops's brand of soy and 416 tart wax. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Congratulations! :highfive: It is exciting when all goes well. Hope you get to feeling better soon so that you can smell your new creation. :whoohoo:
  16. There is a version of this candle in todays (Sun) newspaper. Walgreen's Circular $9.99. Looks very pretty.
  17. I don't know if you have a Hobby Lobby out there but that's where I bought mine. I know I've seen them on line...just can't think of where at the moment. If I can find them, I'll let you know.
  18. Hi Geek...thanks for answering. Wow. A 3.5 in. jar with one wick...sounds very interesting. I hate that black smoke from HTP's and CD's when the wick is blown out. I still haven't learned how to dip them in the wax without the mushrooms falling off and making a mess. LOL I think I'll order a sample pack and give 'em a try.
  19. For those of you who are using this wick series could you please tell me what you like about them. Less shrooming, steadier flame, burns hotter, better scent throw, etc. I have so many different type wicks but am always searching for something better. Aren't we all.
  20. I buy mine from candlescience.com. $3.99 per case and very reasonable shipping. HTH
  21. Tried the quarters. Hooray! My scale said 1 oz. Thanks Donna.
  22. With all of the money that I've spent on this "wonderful" hobby, I hated throwing wax out when the tarts loose their scent or there is a 1/4 in left in a container. I started saving the used (but empty) tealite tins and use the leftover wax for tealites. I don't care if they don't smell or are a funny color. They're just going to be in the bottom of my tealite warmer anyway. It makes me feel a little better when I paying my VISA bill. Which I just did and OMG what did I do!!!
  23. Thanks for your response Jordan. It brought my anxiety level down a few notches. I did add "Scent Event" to the comments section. I ordered the 2 that you mentioned and just about everything else that had a Soy rating of Excellent or Strong Throw. LOL Can't wait to try them out!
