i figured out a way to straighten out my wicks and keep them neater at the same time. for some reason the hubbys grandmother thinks we use straws ALOT. so i decided to put them to use i snipped off the flexy part of the straw and stuck two wicks one into each end. the 6in wicks fit perfectly into it and now i don't have to untangle a wick ball every time i pour
i just started trying my hand at tarts so i won't be to much help but i did add 1tbsp of beeswax to my soy to firm it up a bit worked great i had to pop the molds into the freezer for a couple mins to pop them out of the mold but i didn't need any mold release. i stuck with my usual 1oz fo pp
they look really nice good job love the kitty my daughter is sitting on my lap and she gave it big squeal and a smile so you already have a ten month old following
yes i do order my wax from there i originally got my wax from candle wic but i didn't really like that as much as i like the natures garden wax... it seems like all their scents throw very well in soy i guess thats prob because all they have is soy and joy... still not quite sure what the deal is with the joy wax maybe i'll try that one day thank you everyone for the compliments i actually feel like i found something i can be really good at.. as a stay at home mommy i needed a hobby
i found this site when looking for the water candles for someone in another thread it actually has some interesting stuff (to a newbie like me prob not to you vetrans) but i thought i'd share i guess it'll be cool just for ideas http://www.onestopcandle.com/candle/cprojectdir.php
that does look pretty cool... and awesome deal your lucky i could never find something like that around here of course the only thing we have thrift wise here is goodwill and salvation army
i'm not sure if i'm actually allowed to say the company name so if i can't i'm sorry but candlewic is having a 7 day sale on some random stuff and votive molds were one of them their normally $.60 each and they have them on sale this week for $.32 did i get a good deal or am i still paying to much???
how bout market it as expholiating??? i know i don't make b&B i just like looking at the pictures cause everything looks so nice but i think it looks good i'd buy it
oh that pear scent god what a pain that was i knew what i wanted in my head it was just trying to achieve it mixing the yellow and blue... i kept adding the blue a teeny tiny bit at a time till i got it... so thank you all that hard work is worth it if people actually like it... the pear is actually something i worked on so i could have it perfected when i made my granmothers candle for x-mas
aww thank you i just wish i had paid attention to what i was doing when i ordered my wicks i ordered the wrong size so i'm kinda limited to the containers i can do
yes they are 4 oz. tins the little jars are from walmart $.44 each the labels are the clear adress labels they fit perfectly on the tin i wish the candles would come out a little smoother and i need to work on my wick centering but i think for only doing it for less than a month i'm not doing to bad
i just found these adorable little glass votive holder at walmart for $.44 each their small maybe an inch and a half tall their in the craft isle's (they have the same ones in the candle isle for $.57) i have pictures in the candle gallery and it has my tins and the new little glass ones.. either one would be cute and not to expensive
yeah their all pure soy... that red came from one dye chip i was suprized cause everything i read said i wouldn't be able to get vibrant colors with soy.. but i've been able to get some really good colors
all the scents i've tested have had wonderful hot and cold throw.. those little containers are actually smaller then they look in pic i use cd-5 and they burn perfectly. i get all my fragrance oils from natures garden freezin glad you like the labels i was actually wondering if they looked stupid or not
now remember i've only been doing this a few weeks these are most of what i've done i also have a handful of tealights. don't be to harsh please lol. left to right red apple, sugar cookie, cucumber melon, french vanilla, banana nut bread, fresh pear
