  1. Beautiful layering and colors!
  2. They are superb! What a wonderful idea and the color and execution are perfect!
  3. Just checked out Elevance's website! I'm going to go out on a limb here with my personal opinion and tongue in check, so please don't smack me off it. But based on the bios of the people leading this new company, most of whom have recently left long careers working for the oil companies, it's no wonder they are raising the price of Naturewax soy wax! Why not, seems to be the trend..... price gouging is in!
  4. I'm not very experienced either, but seems like pouring the candle with a wick and then, ripping that wick out and replacing with another size as needed, would be easier than creating a wick hole with a skewer after the wax has hardened.
  5. Welcome! At first, I would wait for the wax to film over and then drop the wicks in, but it was always hard for me to hit the center. Now, I can't praise wick pins enough! They are only 99 cents from Candlescience and shop last you years (just don't steam or clean in boiling water). I wiggle the center stem after pouring to get any air bubbles out. Then, remove from candle after wax completely hardens so that thin ridge along juncture of wax and wick pin falls off neatly. Good luck!
  6. Thanks all for sharing your experiences! I'll be using the oven when a wipe won't work, as that seems to be the consensus. Both sets were from Candlescience which I like because they have flat bottoms. (Their wonderful biannual 99 cent FO sample sale makes up for their steamed-challenged wick pins - :smiley2: ) Their pins are definitely plated with something, as the votive molds themselves appear to be a solid unplated metal and despite repeated steaming, have not discolored at all.
  7. I've been using my wick pins for about 2 years now. Lately, the wick pins have started to lose their chrome finish and the wax on the bottom of the votives has been sticking to the wick pins, even with the use of mold release spray. I purchased some new wick pins and the wax didn't stick. Question is whether the wick pins gradually lose their finish or is my relatively new cleaning method of using a steamer to remove any wax residue responsible for the wick pins losing their finish? Anyone have any insight? How do you clean the wax off your wick pins without removing the finish from the wick pins? Thanks!
  8. I switched to LX wicks with both Naturewax and Accusoy soy waxes. They don't curl for me.
  9. Beautiful layering and graduated colors!
  10. Some of the two-star rated fragrances are my favorites, such as cotton candy!
  11. I think your effort will pay off as the wrap looks wonderful!
  12. I think it looks really nice, looks like it was worth the effort!
  13. Love all your work! Sorry to hear about your nose, but the puppy sure is cute!
  14. I think the color combination looks really nice! Great choices!
  15. The purple hearts look beautiful, hope the soap turns out to your liking!
  16. Nice candles and backyard view!
  17. Try covering them with a cardboard box so they cool slower. It prevents cracks for me although I use a different wax.
