I've been in the B&B industry for 13 years, and started making candles 4 years ago. I'm married (23 years), have 2 children, 4 grandchildren and a gang of fur/feathered/finned kids. We live on 10 acres in N.E. Washington state. I'm a dirt lovin', tree huggin' nature girl :)

  1. Yay! Got a timely reply back and have ordered 2 lbs of Red Sedona. I'm a happy camper again
  2. Well, I've sent another message. This makes the 4th one. Keeping my fingers crossed that since you've all heard back that maybe I will now as well
  3. I surprised that you were able to get your hands on any of the Red Sedona. Every time I've checked the website in the past year, there hasn't been any listed. Unfortunately, there is no other contact information on the website or the FO bottles like a phone number. Hopefully one of us will hear from her soon
  4. I've been trying to contact the owner of Fragrance and Craft Supply. I purchased FO's from her the last time she did a $10/lb sale here on the forum. I've sent messages via her contact form 3 or 4 times over the last two months and have received no reply. Anyone know if she is still around? Her website seems to still be functioning I'm looking to see if she can still order the Red Sedona fo. It has turned into a runaway best seller for me Thanks, Donna
  5. I live rural too and I'm wondering if my home owners policy might cover this. My shop is separate from my house as well. I may have to look into this. I'm glad you said something
  6. Hum?? From the sounds of it, it's a consistency thing. Some have had great luck with customer service, others haven't. I'm sure the FO's themselves are of good quality. I've heard good things about the FO's. That is why I ordered from there. It just irks me when a company doesn't answer your emails.
  7. When I could not a reply to my emails, I joined the forum to try and get an answer. That didn't work either. So, I joined her Yahoo group. After weeks of waiting, I never got approved for I canceled that. I finally gave up on getting an answer and just went ahead and ordered the dang LUSH dupes! It took about 2 weeks to get them. :rolleyes2 They smell dead on OOB. I'm hoping to soap them this week. I too have LOTS of customers wanting these. But I'm looking for a different supplier. Even if I have to do it myself.
  8. OMG's!! This is just one of my biggest pet peeves! And there really is no excuse for it other than laziness, neglect or......I dunno. Because I was a small potatoes supplier many years ago and whenever I got in an FO, my lab guys/gals ALWAYS gave me a precise and detailed description. It didn't matter what manufacturer I used. So, tell me why some of these other suppliers do not simply take that and post it? Heck, they can ever reword it a bit if they want. That is what I did. But leave the basic info intact. It's not rocket science! No description! No sale! Not from me anyways. Now please tell me that you have not run out of those happy pills. Because I'm pretty darn sure that I need a double dose
  9. I'm using GB 444 or 464. Idiot Alert!! The box fell apart and when i tossed it, I completely forgot to write down which one it was
  10. I also use Jenn's recipe, have for several years now. I offer it in 4, 2 oz. and mini pocket sprayers as well as roll-ons. It's one of my most popular sellers and it has a great profit margin As Smacky mentioned, Jenn is a smart cookie and really knows her products. You can trust anything that you find in her formulary. Everything I've ever tried has been a winner. She is also very helpful if you have any questions about any of her products. You will find fast, awesome customer service.
  11. While I love the strength and throw of their FO's. After further testing with my sticking silicone mold problem (it was NG batches that were sticking), I'm not sure that I would ever use NG FO's in anything but containers again. I've tested 4 of my other FO's now from other suppliers and none of them stuck. Whereas all 3 of the NG batches did.
  12. They use Homestead as their website builder. You get a 30 day free membership. I was going to use it for another small biz I have. But after I got into it and realized they used Homestead I changed my mind. I've used that builder before and was not happy with it. Plus, the "free" 30 day membership does NOT include any kind of shopping cart with your site. You must upgrade to a pay site for that.
  13. I too would love to find just plain vellum in bulk at a decent price. I've looked high and low to no avail.
  14. I only heat until my wax is just melted. I pour at around 100 -110 degrees. I've never added any additives before. This is the same method that I've always used for my container candles as well as my clam shell tarts and my tarts that I pour into the little metal fluted 1 oz. molds.
  15. Has anyone used the 444 or 464 in silicone molds? I've been using one or the other of these waxes since I started 5-6 years ago with no problems. I've never had to add anything to either for my tarts. Then recently I had a situation with a wholesale order where my wax stuck horrifically in my silicone tart molds. I was using just the wax with an FO load of 9% as usual. I ended up having to add 3 Tbl. of stearic acid ppw AND spray my silicone mold with mold release AND back off my FO load to 7% just finish out the order with minimal damage to the rest of the tarts. It was the worst tart disaster I've ever experienced. Two things that I think may have been the culprit. 1). I'd never used these silicone/rubber molds for tarts before. I stupidly assumed they would work fine. 2). Three of the FO's were new. Last minute special requests from the client. I only tested a tart I had mold from a different mold. Again, I stupidly assumed they would be fine. So, you expert chandlers, would you say it was the new FO's? That is my gut feeling. Or is the 464 & 444 just not meant for molded tarts? Thanks!
