  1. I know that Alabaster has a Kudzu. I'm not sure how good it is as I haven't tried it. -Kristi
  2. NG also has coco cabana (although it may have been in the batch of renames?...)... smells just like suntan lotion. -Kristi
  3. I would think any wax with a high enough melt point could work. If it was a softer wax it would melt in a warm room or in sun though. -Kristi
  4. Thank you, I thought that might be the case. Now I'm not so afraid to pour it! -Kristi
  5. I'm noticing that many of CS's oils you cannot judge OOB and sometimes even until after a day or two cure in wax. Pumpkin Souffle's burnt note changes into the butteriest, creamiest note. LoveSpell's nasty crayon and koolaid notes really diminish and change into something less repulsive (I don't like it much to start with lol). Blackberry Marmalade has a funny off note not unlike a tobacco UNTIL it's in wax and cured. All the funky scents mellow into what layers into awesome, complex fragrances that THROW. BUT they can start out smelling downright ODD! Still hoping for a musk check on White Tea and Berries.... :lipsrseal -Kristi
  6. Med fig worked great for me in 464. I have a question about White Tea and Berries- I don't do musk and I'm afraid that the white tea might be the musk kind... anyone give me a heads up on this one??? I have the sample and I'm SO adverse to musk that I haven't poured it yet. -Kristi
  7. I will NOT make my candles in my kitchen. The FO tends to drip down the sides of the bottles and I'm tempted to touch other things that aren't candle related and then everything has that weird FO smell, aftertaste to it. No thanks!!! -Kristi
  8. I was using HTP 41 in those... the biggest problem I have with that size container is that most of the tealight wicks aren't long enough, so it would work better to tab your own off a spool. If I made more of those, that's what I'd do. -Kristi
  9. I forgot Sage and Pomegranate... that's a good "green" scent too. A little lighter than some of the others, but an awesome combo! -Kristi
  10. Yes, but there is a 10 degree difference in melt point between 444 and 464. That equals a very big wicking difference! -Kristi
  11. Once, ONCE have I EVER left a candle burning and left, and that was an accident. I realized it after I'd been gone a while and even though I was only gone for 2 1/2 hours, I thought about it the ENTIRE time.... I was so glad for three things. It was a tin, it was almost full, and it was on my stove in the center of the kitchen burning with NOTHING around it. Still, I thought about it CONSTANTLY. NEVER again. I was lucky. Don't be stupid and do it on purpose!!! -Kristi
  12. Cranberry Marmalade Caramelized Pralines Blackberry Marmalade Pumpkin Souffle (still selling this year round) Mediterranean Fig Wildberry Mousse Very Vanilla Cool Citrus Basil There are more... many more... :rolleyes2 -Kristi
  13. Just over 3 inches should be no more than a CD 12 with this wax. I can get away with a 10 with most FOs. -Kristi
  14. Ummm, I use a CD 5 in my 5 ounce size... burns perfectly. I use a 16 or 18 in my 16 ounce tin though... -Kristi
  15. I googled your "room essence melt" and the word "freebie" and came across 5 different freebie boards that it was posted on... several now have updates that it's been changed to a "random drawing" for every 20 accts... with a roll eyes next to it... Looks like it was posted on most of them last weekend, January 26th. I hope you get business out of it, I really really do! -Kristi
  16. I would never do a freebie on a website with no strings attached. I would do shipping only or free with your order of $X or more OR the price would be credited to their next order. Web crawlers pick up the freebie stuff and it gets posted to a freebie board, which posts to another freebie board and WHAM. Not fun, and most of these people are serious moochers, but not serious buyers. -Kristi
  17. LOL!!! It DOES kinda smell like this! But I compared it to the real thing, and CS's is very accurate, despite the crayon smell! If you MUST pour it and you cannot do CS's, NG has a sweeter, candier smelling version that is different but still satisfies my LoveSpell fans... -Kristi don't get them started on Pink Sugar though!!!
  18. That's why I slather on the silicone! Really get enough on there to seal all the way around and squish up in there! So far so good! -Kristi
  19. Thanks ya'll... I've now tested this combo with This Old House, dyed very light brown (1 drop pp, FO 1 oz pp) and then decided to go for it with the mother of all tests, the Spiced Mulberry with a CRAZY amount of dye. The wick MUST be trimmed down to 1/4 inch. Almost nothing. Just a little nub of a wick left and that's all. WITH that trim, there is little to no sooting. If you left more wick than that it would definitely soot. I'm happy enough that I will continue to test combos to possibly carry in my line. I currently use a 20 oz Tureen double wicked with 2 CD 12's for most scents and would love to replace it with a more mainstream container that is single wicked. -Kristi
  20. Ohh, I just saw those jars yesterday and was wondering about them... they don't look straight sided enough for me, and they come way in at the neck... Did I see them at Alabaster? I think... or Aztec... -Kristi
  21. I've used NG's and CS's, and CS's is more accurate. The lime smells a little better with that one. -Kristi
  22. I've asked this before, but I don't think I ever saw an answer- does that smell too "brandied"? I don't do well with any alcoholic scents here, but pear would do great. Put it this way- I have a bottle of Merlot Wine that is almost full.... How much is the brandy note and is it screamingly obvious?!? Thanks! -Kristi
  23. While all that is so true, a GREAT supplier to start with for soy is CandleScience. They have a soy "rating" system and reviews on their site. I have yet to be disappointed- everyone who has smelled them has loved them. I used them almost exclusively for my Christmas line this year (except for a few from TCS) and did very well. Hopefully they'll be having a $1 sample sale sometime in the next little while (after Valentine's day maybe?)... I can't wait! -Kristi
  24. Another thing I haven't heard mentioned is how you secured your wick and what size wicktab you used. If you secure it with a sealant that is heat resistant (RTF sealant or another high temp silicone), it will keep the wax from funnelling up the bottom of the wick at the end of the burn and will always extinguish ITSELF with plenty left in the bottom of the container. Lots of glass containers have concave bottoms and will put themselves out sooner, but tins are flat and will burn to the last drop. IF those drops are contaminated with wick "droppings", they will burn in the bottom of the tin. Wick stickers and high temp glue guns don't seal the bottom of the wick enough to always put out the flame before the wax is completely gone. Don't forget to test this too! -Kristi
