1. I'd suggest that it is something to do with the air bubbles or type of mixing done when you HP that is getting more air in. I get the same size in CP & HP with the same recipes/lbs.
2. I would say with setup B as a visitor to your booth I would like it better. I would probably not waste my time going in if I didn't see somethhing right out front. There is also a trapped feeling of going inside. Also if you have it like A and I saw people already inside looking I probably wouldn't bother because it would already be kind of cramped. I actually sort of avoided checking out a both last week setup like A because I just didn't feel like going inside to see everything. I prefer it all out front/on the outside of the booth. It would of course depend on your space. If you can walk around the sides then I'd prefer B.
3. I have tried a few different combinations at this point and still can smell that weird smell. I'm not using anything animal. The only thing all of mine have had in common is coconut.
4. Yes, I think so. Basically if I didn't know it had that smell I think I wouldn't notice it as long as it had FO in it. Try it out and tell me what you think. Most everyone else here seems to love the stuff.
5. I'm one who can still smell it even with the FO. It is just a weird odor, not necessarily strong. If I didn't know it was there and I was just an average buyer I don't know if I would notice it as long as it had fragrance. It also seems more obvious with certain FO's.
6. I think I found it. For anyone else who might be looking here it is: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48042&page=2 Thank you!
7. Ok, I was wondering if I was missing something (occaisionally I completely miss the obvious). Thank you for trying!
8. Is there something I am missing? That is a tutorial for regular CP soap right? I was looking for something on the liquid soap method SoapersWorkshop was talking about. Did I miss something on that page? I've made plenty of regular CP soap. I am working on the liquid soaps right now.
9. ok, I agree with the smell thing. Only done this a few times HP and they all smell no matter what FO I add it just doesn't cover it up. My husband thinks it smells like plastic. I'm not sure what it smells like, it is kinda like a raw batch of regular CP bar soap (one w/o FO) but I hate how you can still smell it even with the FO. If you don't mind me asking a question on a slightly different subject I am interested in trying this CP cuz I hate wasting a day baby-sitting it while it cooks. Is there any good information sources/tutorials for doing it this way that you have found? I understand the general concept, but does it turn to the same looking paste & do you use the same test methods like doing this HP so you know it has cured? I haven't really seen enough info on doing this this way, but maybe I am just not looking in the right places....why is it I always want to try something new. :undecided
10. They're all cute, but that sheep is super adorable. Nice job!
11. They're both cute, but I love the little blueberries. There is just something about them. Looks good!
12. I love Peak's Coconut Milk it smells kind of like suntan lotion out of the bottle, but once in CP soap & cured it smells more like fresh coconut. Don't know if that is something you'd like, but it smells great.
13. Soap Lotion Lip Balm Body Butter I don't have to pick only one type of each right?
14. Oh yes wait to zap test. I tested this once on my 90% OO, 10% castor on a fresh cut batch. I think I will always remember that batch, it was quite a zap!
15. ok, have to comment a that auction. Yesterday I saw your post and checked the auction, but had to find out what shipping would be. At the at time there was a buy it now of $50. Today I look and it has been bid on and is now at $76 LOL.
16. Glad to hear you figured out this problem :highfive: your husband must be so happy. My best friend and her family are allergic to almost everything. They have done really well on a 90% olive 10% castor soap I've been making them for a while now. They can handle the colors, but no FO's.
17. I was lucky enough to find a great supplier for 100% RBO at this little Japanese market in our area. A gallon cost me $6 and there is no shipping to pay. I can't beat that. Of course I use a great deal of Olive so I still have to find that perfect source. I just get mine at Costco since I am there often enough as it is. Around $24 for 5 liters.
18. Ok, last night I went to bed and it was super clear like the pic above. I was so pleased. Today I get up and it is cloudy. Also super thick today. I assume everything is ok with it, I just got a cloudy batch? Perhaps someone with more experience knows more? I washed with it and have had no irritation. Going to put this one back on and add some more water and see what happens. On another note, the best part of this is my husband asks me if it is ready to use now (he is used to me making only CP). I told him it is and I put some in a bottle to go try it out. He says no, that is his bottle. He has never cared to try any of the stuff I've made as he refuses to use bar soap, but he wants the liquid soap. It's great! He's even asking when I am going to make him shampoo. I guess now he can't complain every time I get a box of supplies, I can tell him I need it to make his shampoo.
19. Well here is what I got. I added a touch of red so it would be orange instead of that dark urine color.
20. Well this has been an exhausting experrience. Definitely harder than HP or CP and I'm not done yet. It is now diluted and sitting. Some of the things I found interesting from this first experience so far: -Potassium hydroxide is FUN, I loved how it bubbled and hissed. My DH however was there when I put it in and it kinda freaked him out at first. -It really can take 30 min (or more) to trace, I was ready to give up about 15 minutes before I finally got a light trace. -Double boiler method is hard to keep it hot enough. Next time I'm going to try the crockpot. I also looked at it about every 5 min which probably contributed to this problem, but I couldn't stop. -It really can take up to 8 hrs of cooking time. Thats about the most of it I'm so tired now. Time for a nap. Oh and I have somehow ended up with soap past all over myself, my shirt is kinda crusty at this point. Luckily I wore one that is already ruined with wax.
21. Well, since I am just going for a first try I am just hoping for it to come out ok...resemble soap. I'll be happy with whatever it looks like at this point as long as it is soap when I'm done.
22. I just got my Potassium Hydroxide this week and will tonight/tomorrow try my first attempt at liquid soap.:embarasse I have done all the reading I can get my hands on (including every post I can find on this topic here). I just thought I'd send out a quick request for any final words of wisdom? Advice? You know just for any last minute suggestions I haven't heard yet?
23. Yes, it definitely looks cool. Looks like a zebra for sure and as long as it doesn't smell like one you've got a hit.
24. They both look great as usual, but the lemon is divine! It definitely looks edible. Lemon FO's are my favorites. *soap porn approval*
25. Great job! Sounds time consuming, but worth it.
