  1. I would reckon this was a male version you received, lol. As opposed to the smooth, differently behaved, ball free version. Lol... did that help??
  2. Aint it cute ( in an annoying way) how sometimes they think you are holding something back from them? She is going to rip you a new one if you decide you can not sell her a candle... if even only 'yet' Lol. May the force be with you.
  3. What I have is Ginger Snap, and I added it to Rich Vanilla Wafer... it fixed the rich vanilla wafer, lol... and smells and throws excellent from a tart.
  4. Looks like you found your answer maybe, but I will just add... the ingredients in the Mk mask also list flavor- that tells me they are well aware you will be tasting/ingesting it. Not that you would WANT to have a meal out of it, but you know! Also- I can't imagine that a mouth product would be able to be sold/made if it was toxic, but stranger things have happened!
  5. Other than in bath bombs... the purpsose of citric acid in most products is as a pH balancer. So my guess would be that there is another ingredient in the recipie that makes the citric necessary. You can alter your products ph using citric. Otherwise, I think I have heard it is used as a surfactant? (breaks the surface of the water) But i'm not sure.
  6. Thanks Carrie! That's great information to have. I was looking for something JUST like that because personally I'm NOT into the 'natural' look of the brown, but I do like the crystals. And I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Ok, I just pm'd you the ingredients from off my MK site. (it's good to have connections! ) lol
  8. Do you have a tube to look on to kind of see if there is anything you can recreate yourself to get close- or if not let me know, I'll type off some things from my tube. Other than picking apart the ingredients, one of the things you will want to remember is that it is NOT moisturizing per sey ...it is made to dry just like a mask but is not thick at all...and made to definitely be followed by the second step which is the balm.
  9. See, that's what I'm used to hearing. Perhaps some people just SEE the oil, like you've said and are turned off. Ok- <phew> I can still buy it, lol....I liked the all purpose quality!
  10. Lol- yeah- you could say that huh Vicky? All I know about it is that here on the board we have seen some that are made from SOME kind of vegetable based oil that is solid at room temp and can be used as 'lotion' when heated to liquid form. I beleive this one was done useing Coconut oil- at least it fits the description. Of course there may be other additives thrown in there or other oils I don't know about yet. Instructions on these candles state that you should not let it burn for very long at all, I think I've read 15 minutes, 'just enough to melt the top layer for your use' -kind of thing. Sounds like trouble if you ask me, lol. Most people want to burn a 'candle' for the room freshening effects and will let it burn. Just be very explicit in your instructions/warning label info. You will have to pay special attention to using only cross over fragrance oils- safe for candle AND lotion. And please know that general B&B safe doesn't always mean LOTION safe... because lotions stay on you and soaps are diluted and washed off. (learned that here on this board- thanks guys! )
  11. Sometimes, I have been able to open publisher... then existing files - make sure it is showing 'all file formats' and open it, it will then ask you... do you want this file to be converted' I know just enough about computers to be dangerous, but I beleive this to be correct. Of course it all depends on settings and compatible programs. But ya might just try it. I don't work with Word programs though- the computer I do work on is owned by a lady who uses word like some use post its, lol...and she has me 'make' things (business flyers, greeting cards and such) from her notes or drafts. And that is the message I get because I always open Pub. by habbit since that is what I use at home. I think you found your way around it already but just for future reference....as far as not being able to d/l - it may be because your version of publisher is not the same since there are different versions and some updates are not compatible with anything older than 2000 or 2002. But it seems like you have everything pretty much in control- good for you!
  12. From the point of view of a customer... I'd prefer a spray. The reason is that I imagine better coverage/ scent dispersion. I think scientificly, the more surface space to meet with air, the more scent throw you will get.
  13. Lol- looks like no one is giving their secrets away... J/k. I did a Rich Vanilla Waffer and Hershey's Chocolate tart... great throw and so yummy! I don't like the Wafer one alone at all, but I got it in a lot of oils from the classy's and I hate to waste, lol... so I invented a use for it and I love it. Especially since I am so NOT a food or bakery scent type person... I did it to welcome home hubby. Problem is.... both him and my daughter started to crave chocolate (lol- that's just too cruel! )
  14. Ok, now i'm confused... I was ready to buy some Cyclo because I just read a thread raving about it.... it called it a 'dry oil'. Is it really in fact 'oily'?
  15. I'd like to put in my vote for a Wickless -or aromatics thread. A tart thread would be nice, but I realize there aren't tons ( a lot, but probably not enough to warrent our own) of us tart fanciers around- so an all inclusive place where we won't feel silly posting on the 'candle' thread would be nice. I want to dabble in everything smelly, lol. But sometimes asking things in regards to tarts is intimidating on the 'Candle' threads. They are very different birds, tarts and candles. I would even think that the candle people would like us to have our own too, so we don't use up space on theirs, lol. And where would you ask a Q about incense and potpouri (like how to spell it? Lmao...)
  16. I've only experimented with one as i'm just starting to do B&B.... what I use is mostly turbinado and some brown sugar. I do like it, I don't find it to be TOO scratchy or scrubby, but it is a tad. But I like that. I think a bit more brown sgr. would help in that dept. But- I will say - IMHO.... this kind of scrub would only really be good for fall scents. More specifically - gingerbread (if you can find a body safe FO of it), brown sugar and fig, molasses, etc. Also if you cater to a more 'natural' customer they would really find this brown /unbleached/unprocessed kind of look appealing.
  17. Lol.. well it is a small town, yes. But it's just outside of Eugene... I know you know where that is cuz... well.... Eugene is awesome. Lol...j/k. I won't go there, lmaoo....Veneta is --- lets see.....if you were going to the coast, it's a very popular route. The owner said her store front is right next to the school. I still haven't made it there myself. I'm really curious though because her prices on Ebay are sooo random. But it's worth my drive at least once if it means I don't have to pay shipping!!!!
  18. Hey carrie... do you know if Glory Bee has a store front? I think I looked them up on line and it didn't say... which usually means they don't but ya never know. TIA!
  19. Hi- I found a store front in Veneta Oregon. If you are willing to make the drive and buy in larger amounts you could save a lot of money. I have not used the M&P (or anything else from this seller) yet. But when I get my ingredient needs list complete AND have the money- I plan to make a trip there myself. She also sells oils and such- she just doesn't like to ship them due to leakage problems. If you are interested Pm me and I will look her name up for you. Can't think of it off the top of my head. Sorry. Good luck.
  20. Hi- I don't know how to make it but I know I've seen it in my browsing. Don't ask me where, lol.. they all run together for me I read so many sites and scent descriptions. But it's one the main ones people talk about on here a lot. Someone recently posted a thread for newbies containing a link that will help you find who makes/sells a fragrance. Check out the next two pages or so of these threads and you'll find it im sure. Good luck.
  21. I just have to applaud your thinking ahead. It's one thing to be able to joke about things to other adults, but there really is a line isn't there? Reminds me of the t-shirts I see for teeny little teen girls these days. 'Eye Candy' and such. It can get out of hand so I just HAD to applaude you for even TRYING to be the best role model you can be. We as moms have more control over that than we think! (or have the courage to use;) )
  22. Wow... I've been staying up too late reading these boards... I'm so tired. I read the title of this thread to be 'insult goats milk'. But i'm not surprised, what with all the talk about hugging and cuddling candles, lol- it just came natural. Insult your goats milk soap. I need a nap. :tiptoe:
  23. I've always wanted to mix up some concoction and call it Santa's Breath, or Kissing Santa. I was thinking something more pepperminty, but I don't see why you couldn't use it for a Vanilla scent as well. He likes Vanilla too right? Or how about Santa Bean - going on an idea from another poster:D
  24. Thanks for the reply Fern. I was kind of figuring all that I guess. I just wondered if there was some official stance. I have seen how some FO's are not gel safe even though they are for candles. It was just mainly the wickless vs worry level that i wasnt sure about.
  25. In regards to hesitant hubby... gather your information first. Know what you are talking about and show that you got it all covered and how really simple it is. Approach it in a 'step 1 - step 2...' etc kind of thing. Anything 'unknown' can be a huge risk for some men. These types always find it easier to just say no... but not because they are really against it. They just don't want the bother/hassle or as you say... risk. So dispell all that with information. I don't know much about getting a tax id# myself (except that it allows you to buy wholesale sometimes - and this can be a very big plus to share with hubby, lol) but I do think you should be able to keep it separate from you and your husbands regular tax files. I don't think it has to have anything to do with him. In this case, you could just do it yourself. It really has very little to do with him and he wouldn't have much ground to stand on to object. Don't let the man keep you down, I say! Lol- Just kidding. Just put your name only on it. And remember and remind him, once you do it, it's done. As with anything new, it's just the unfamiliar territory of it all in the beginning that can be most flustering. If nothing else...there is no rush to start a business if you are relatively new at this anyways. (you can still get a tax id# w/o having to actually run a store front or whatever. I beleive you just have to have a registered business name and what ever basic requirement your county/state requires. Maybe you are putting too much pressure on yourself. You have to make it fun or it won't last long and all your investments will be for naught. Take your time and enjoy your talents at it. Good luck to you in what ever you decide.
