  1. Hi- I feel like this is a sort of silly q here, but probably just because I think I know the answer -just really want others' inputs. I did a search and someone else asked the q but it wasn't really answered and i'm REALLY wondering.... Is there such a thing as a non candle safe FO? I have picked up so many from the classy's and it's hard to know what is good for what especially when most of them are discontinued by the time you get them. If I want to make B&B obviously, I'd look it up to the best of my ability or ask the person im buying it from. But otherwise, I only make tarts and wickless candles for myself and family as gifts. Do I need to research the candle safe properties of each and every FO for this purpose? Someone answered in another old post that if you find it on a candle site, it should be candle safe- far as they know. So i'm asking... what if it isn't? Or what would make it not. I realize there are flash points to consider when making a candle, but there will be no flame making any kind of direct contact to my tarts and wickless candles. Sorry so long, hope this makes sense. TIA!
  2. I found some molds on ebay. Not sure what quality you are looking for but by golly if these guys don't have it... I dunno who would, lol. They are about $2 each new. I can't think of who they are right now. cakes&things or something like that?? I'll look it up and next time im on I will let ya know if you still need the info.
  3. As far as the 'sink'.... I can't give much input if you want it real upscale. And it also depends on where the fair/booth is located. But if you want and or have to go rudamentary.... a campers type plastic water jug or gatorade jug with a spout set a top a really stable stool, slightly leaned over an old metal wash tub (if that is part of your look) or just a large bucket, lol. If you have any kind of scrubbies in your lotions you might want to make sure to bring a vegetable or nail brush... some really fancy pancy ladies with their big ruby rings get kind of snippy about that stuff remaining in their rings... trust me I know, lol. You will be prepared with a nail brush and a smile! You may want to offer a really nice crystal looking dish to have them put their rings in in the first place, but most will probably not trust that situation, lol. Just depends on the type of crowd you have. But it's always good to be prepared anyhow... just in case.
  4. DONT forget the towells. And when you think you have enough... pack more. Lol. Maybe a small portable desk type fan to speed hand drying would be nice and helpful. And if any of your products are in jars, make sure you have lots and lots of spatulas/scoops so people know they are getting a clean dip. Don't let people put their hands directly into it. What if on the back of your business card you had something that said 'I tried the such and such lotion by (your business name). I really liked the: (then list the different selections you offered for testing) and they can circle which they liked for future reference. Does that make sense? When people know what they want they are more likely to take ownership of the desire to have it, and are less likely to blow it off and not call... and it will help you when they do call you, they will be able to tell you exactly what they liked. You can then suggest other things relative to their likes. If you have a newsletter or website or something that people can sign up for... this personal preference can be listed on the sign up form. This gives people the feel of personalized service from you, and helps you in your marketing. HTH- Blaze
  5. Ok, I just read Robins post and it prompted me to actually look at the ingredient list on mine... can you say duhhh? Lol.. silly me. It does in fact have sugar after all. In fact.. I compared it to the other one that does not say 'no taste' and it has the exact same ingredients except for the fdc colors. Sooo... if sugar is bad... I guess ya can't, lol. Now I know.
  6. I recently bought some 'no taste' Wilton color... maybe this doesn't have sugar in it? But as far as I seen, that was ALL being sold, was the 'no taste'.
  7. Not sure what kind of bags you mean exactly... but take a look at Mygirlfriendshouse.com - they have tons of bags. Everything from organza to cellophane...and everything is soooo cute, girly, fashionable and festive!!! They are good quality too. I use these bags as a bonus to send people home with their goodies when they place an order with me. (mk not candles, lol)Prices are ... eh-ok. If you can get someone to go in with you on them it makes them totally affordable!
  8. I've seen(and bought) massage oils that were nothing but Sweet Almond oil with fragrance added. And it's great. There are other single oils that work as well, but have different properties. I wouldn't have really thought of it as something you needed to have a 'base' for. But maybe you are looking more for a combination type of thing?
  9. Yanno.. my past experience I mentioned... was also how you put it..'junk FO'- was it? lol. Probably not a coincidence!
  10. I don't know but I would guess that your wax just did not take the FO load. I've had M&P soap do the same to me. Laugh at me if I'm totally off the mark here candle ladies, lol... but it makes sense to me! I know every wax is different. And if that's the only problem you had - it's definitely somewhere in the FO. That is as long as it wasn't 'sweat' from having been put in the freezer or anything.
  11. (it's so nice not to be the only twisted mind around;) )
  12. Lmaooo... well I could tell you what it is and you might like it more. Cuz it isn't half as nasty as you are thinking. I promise! I was wanting to re to this thread to ask what is the cornstarch soap scented with? Everyone seems to like it so well, but I can't imagine a corn starch scent. Just curious. Thanks!
  13. One of my favorite national brands runs about $15 for a five oz plastic jar... and even it has the oil sitting in the top half. They sell it with a small clear almost wedge like stirring spoon. It didn't bother me, but it does make it harder to deal with as the oil escapes and it's hard to open and close at times. The silly little spoon thing was kind of ridiculous to me because it's hard enough to just deal with the package it's self,-when in the shower- let alone a CLEAR plastic stir stick! As a matter of fact, the price of this stuff- and the so very basic ingredients is what turned me onto making my own. My fave scent was discontinued, so I put a watch out or it on Ebay, and the stuff goes like gold. It's crazy. I like it but hello!- it was too expensive in the first place- I sure as hell am not going to pay more! Ok, i'm done. Don't worry about the oil. Lol, unless it bothers YOU. If you want to just add less oils, don't worry either. It doesn't affect the quality or reduce the softening effect... it's all in the sugar/salt and it will only absorb as much as it can no matter how much you put in...just gives you less product if you hold back on some oils. But the cheap stuff is the bulk of it anyhow.
  14. from the same place? What was your shipping? Lol.. I know everyone else is curious. Maybe you could give a review on those jars and lids for us also. I wasn't sure if they would be leaky or not. Thanks!
  15. Hello all. I was just doing a search on here to see if there was any info on what companies people liked to get their plastic jars from... everything I've seen before is glass if it is a jar. So I did the search and found the WSP link to a close out sale type thing and a lot of grumpy people posting they missed out, lol. Well I went to the site and found a current deal same as before. These are black plastic 4oz PET Jars. 48 for around $5. I don't know how long it's been going on and whats left. Anyone wanna host a co-op on these babies? Seems some people get totally ripped when it comes to shipping from this company and others get by ok. So lets find someone who gets it cheapest and do a co-op, lol. So for any newbies who are really excited at this price... i'll just tell ya from what i've read... be wary of shipping. Pay attention. could be a good deal for some though.
  16. I'd probably never use them but I know there is a huge population of ladies who like thier bathrooms just so. Once someone figured out these babies were wax... well obviously they don't get used and the ladies don't have to keep washing (thus fading and aging their best linens) My mom has burgundy wash clothes rolled up to match her guest Bath room, she won't tell you this ahead of time, but she hates it when people actually use them, lol, cuz then she has to redo them- and they do fade. My initial reaction to this post was as others have mentioned... the dust. But that would only really be on white or pastel colors that it would show soonest right? Just remember to use the blowdryer on COOL, lol.
  17. Perhaps a certificate- this way they can choose what they want so you know they will be more likely to like it. It should probably have a date by which it should be redeemed, or people just won't get a fire under them and they will never redeem sometimes. You can always honor it anyway if it goes past the date and they are still interested and they ask if they can still use it. You will look like a big ol sweetheart for being so accomodating, lol. Or you could word it as being 'good for (whatever) off your next order' Add wording that they have worked so hard, kept thier business successful, etc... that they should get something for THEMSELVES for once because they deserve it. It makes it very personal I think.
  18. Could it be density? I know it is a common instruction to really pack your balls in tight (lmaoo) - maybe the less dense ones have those same air pockets that the floating/whipped soap has. Just a thought!?
  19. Not sure how big you are wanting, but those are pretty big- according tothe description. Imagine a smaller TUB that you can put cans of soda and ice in, and also can be used as a large punch bowl. But then again, things always seem to actually be smaller than they appear once in hand- go figure. But im guessing they would hold waaay more salts than you imagine.
  20. Gawd these things are addicting! I patiently waited out my 30 day probabation, lol... then swooped in on the classifieds and am going broke! What is it about those little bottles that are soooo alluring? If it's a good price, I'll buy a whole lot just for one or two, even if I don't like half of them, lol. Maybe I shouldn't tell you all that, lol. Now you know what a sucker I am!!! Of course I know i'm not alone. But I just can't help but be amazed at the severity with which we all seem to contract this addiction! I now have a LARGE drawer of scents, about 1lb of wax, 2oz left of M&P, a few baggies of salt and sugars and other small misc. kind of useless stuff, lol. I've completely stopped buying the M&P --I started this to do M&P. But now If I can just stop buying FO's I really really really need to buy some lotion/soap base and more wax! And to top it all off? My daughter is scrapbooking.... looks like a lot of fun. Oh my... oh my... OH NO!:rolleyes2 :rolleyes2
  21. WELLLLL.... since we don't have your nose on it's kind of hard for us to tell how you think it smells. Teehee- sorry couldn't resist! I know what ya meant though;) - and I haven't smelled it but I love love love visualy invoking type scent names. I can't wait to come back and read the responses you get to hear about this one. -Blaze
  22. Thanks AJ for that explanation. I was tripped up when I read that too. It never dawned on me that there was a dif... soap AND lotion are both in the B&B category, but now it makes total sense. Jes something else to research for, lol!!! - Blaze
  23. If you are really wanting to mkt this- perhaps if you marketed it for 'heat rash' or whatever.. towards adults. Maybe just quietly mention somewhere in the ingredients/benenfits about it being for Diaper rash. Let word of mouth be your commercial for it's Diaper Rash uses. That way they can get mad at the person who recommended it to them not you, lol. ?? Just an idea:wink2:

  25. Put me in the 'not' camp. If something is 'all natural' according to it's label...that's great. But that's not why I'm buying it. So it would be more of a 'bonus' than a clincher. But of course, I know more now than I used to and I tend to agree with Robin... I now know that 'natural' tends to mean it doesn't last as long and is in fact suseptible to various influences and rather unstable. If I sold these types of products I would feel obligated to educate my customer on this fact and would essentially be 'educating' myself right out of a sale, lol. I think I'd be more impressed to know that the crafter of the product actually knows about what IS in it and chose those products based on the same things Carebear mentioned. And to know that it may not be all natural but it is the best compromise thanks to the crafters research. I guess it comes down to responsibility and feeling like you were looking out for me- period. I did however recently find a website that tells you all the cons of every imaginable chemical used in famous name products. But after spending a bit of time on the site I realized it's pretty much meant as a scare tactic to lobby for the more zealous of the Earth First type groups.(depending on how you look at it and that's just my opinion) Elsewise you would toss all your bottles of anything and shower in water only, lol.
