  1. I dont use the 415 but I do use the Golden Brands GW 444 and its great. I use these folks for my wax and it is even a little cheaper that what the above company is charging you. This is the company: www.soycandle.com this is a direct link to the GW 415 page: http://www.soycandle.com/product_info.php?products_id=4014 I have been buying from these folks since I started doing candles and their service is outstanding along with their prices.
  2. This is my main supplier also. Melissa is a trully wonderful person to deal with. They have the best price on wax and her scents are all soy tested. You cant go wrong shopping with them!
  3. I use the Golden Brands 444 and love it. I get mine from www.soycandle.com Their prices are so reasonable and they ship fast plus they have great scents that have been tested in soy. Ask for Melissa , shes extremely helpful and knows the business well. Natures Garden is a great place for good Scents too.
  4. Walmart is one of the best places to get a heat gun. I got my wagner there for around 21.95 plus tax. It only has 2 settings though. It is one of the best things I have ever bought for my candle business.
  5. Mine sits in my dining area in my condo in front of what I think is my table, but since I have 5o thousand other things that I sell at the flea market piled on top and around it so Im not sure if its really a dining area any more:cool2: I do keep my temperature at 78 degrees and the wax is always in the original box and plastic wrap that it came in. I also have left finished candles in my car all day too, thats not to smart though but my car smells really really good when I do that:shocked2:
  6. Their Black Rasberry Vanilla is awesome! Butt Naked is really great too. I carry over 30 of their scents and have only had one that I did not like. I think they are one of the best suppliers out there.
  7. Does it count if I make candles and sell other folks home made soap? I love making and selling candles, it is very time consuming and some what costly for the initial investment. The problem is I love good handcrafted soaps but I dont have the time or the knowledge to make my own. I do by good quality soaps made by others to sell at my markets and even allow them to put their labels on the soap(saves me money) I always give the soap maker credit for their work. People love good soaps and great smelling candles:yay:
  8. Brandies22, I get that in my candles also. If the top frosts I take a heat gun and go over the top. That make the top beautiful again. I dont know of any way to overcome the frosting in the bottom of the jar. I agree with accents and tell my customers its normal for soy, they understand and dont mind it.
  9. Oh my goodness are you guys still going on about Candle Wealth:shocked2: I have just three little words,,, Run Forest Run!!!!! Oh wait that was from the movie, oopss I plagiarized it. Well you know what I mean. I dont care what any one says , I looked into candle wealth's prices and oh boy where they expensive. I pay a whole lot less for my wax and I have a whole lot better scents available , and their cheaper, than any thing they have to offer. I do however oh Candle Wealth a big thank you for getting me interested in candles. Because of them I am now in the candle business, just not the candle wealth business. Fortunately for me I know how to do research and found this board and my very reasonable suppliers.
  10. Hi Bob and DonnaMarie, I use the Golden Brands Gw 444. I heat to 165 or 170 and pour at 130. I have also poured at 150. 160, 110 140 and so on. I get air pockets and sink holes but I blast them away with the heat gun. I am having great luck with the scents in the wax, good hot and cold throw. I do have frosting issues though. Sometimes it shows up fast sometimes it shows up later. I noticed that some scents dont frost while others are bad about it. I really dont get wet spots unless It gets really hot( I live in Florida) then they will weep a little bit. This is really a great wax with a super finish despite its little quirky problems. I have the jar, the wick, the scents and the wax down to a science now and am very happy with the way my candles finish out. PS: It did take a lot of mistakes to get it right though or do they call that testing:cheesy2:
  11. KIM, Break even, HA HA, your kidding right? You don't even want to know how much I have spent. I am a long ways from being even. I have 47 scents in my current inventory plus all the toys and goodies you need to do this business. Things like my presto kettle pot , my very best freind MR. Heat Gun and, hmm well you get the picture. I do this as a real part time business and have invested a bit more than the normal beginer. What most people dont realize is not only do your product supplies cost but I also sell in 3 different locations during the week all of which charge me rent. Then theres gas , tolls, and so on. So I figure my times got to be worth at LEAST .50 cents an hour:D I will tell you this though after a rough two summer months I am making enough to break even at my markets but like any business its gonna take a little bit of time to recoup my original costs. If you are in a good area and have great flea markets like I do your gonna make money, you just have to work hard at it. I fully intend to make a great partime income at this but I also know from being in business for myself most of my life that it does take time. The best thing you can do is read this board daily like I do. The folks here are great! They also are so helpful to beginners. Theres a lot of knowledge and very smart people hanging around here. I actually found my main suppliers by using this board , so I am a big fan of this place:yay: Good Luck!
  12. Gee I hope they got it all worked out since I am a big fan of Golden Brands. If every one is so worried just call Jason at Golden Brands and I will bet you he will put your mind at ease. I dont think they would jeapordize their company by ripping off a patent.
  13. wickerbeal, I dont know about a straight cinnamon but soycandle.com has a cinnamon bunn scent thats awsome and throws really good,,its nice in a cold throw too.
  14. Hi Tizimarezie, Welcome to fun and OH! NOT SO CHEAP! world of soy candles:cheesy2: I have only been doing it myself for about 3 months and me and MR. VISA are on a wild candle ride together. I have to tell you its very addictive and for me its sort of like therapy:cool2: However I do sell mine and am on the way to recovery. Lord that sounds like I am at an AA meeting. I have sold close to 300 of them so far. This can be a profitable hobby if you get your candle perfected just like you want it. All I got to say is thank God for this board and my really really helpful supplier. This place has the very best advice to give. Oh and dont forget to test , test and then test it one more time:D
  15. Hi folks I had a customer who asked for a Spruce , Fir , Outdoor sort of manly smell. Any Ideas? I just bought the Pine Needle scent but I dont think thats what hes looking for. I think he wants a cold winter day in the very tree smelling woods kind of feel. Does this make sense? Ah heck,, any ideas you guys have would be highly appreciated:cool2:
  16. I just received Lemon Pound Cake from Soy Candle.com and it smells so good I want to just drink the bottle. I mean talk about a real smell its awsome! I like the food scents they sell great.
  17. Hi ladies, Speaking as a man I like the food scents, my favorite is cinnamon bunns. I think Drakkar is an awsome manly smelling scent. I love the black vanilla rasberry from Natures garden and my personal favorite is Honey coco mango from Bitter Creek North. I also LOVE the Victoria Secret Scents......Yummy Girls the problem I find is that most of my buyers are women not men. Oh sure I get the occasional man who buys a candle , it actually funny they will look around to make sure their buddies dont see them doing it. Lets face it most men have a problem admitting that they like something because it smells pretty:cool2:
  18. Boy I wish I had a sister in law that was a graphic artist:cry2: Your labels are awsome.
  19. These are also good suppliers for soy wax FO's http://www.naturesgardencandles.com http://www.soycandle.com/ I have had wonderfull results with their scents. I also like the one you use , Bitter Creek North
  20. I love Natures Garden scents and carry about 30 of them at the moment. Their Kama Sutra Line is Awsome. I also like Soycandle.com for scents too. They actually are a real producing candle company and have awsome scents , especially their Cinnamon Buns:drool:
  21. I get a great throw in the soy wax. I use the Golden Brands 444 and I firmly believe that you need to test your scents. I deal with 3 companies for scents and they all have good strong scents, Natures Garden , Bittercreek North and Soycandle.com. I get samples from two of the suppliers every time I send for a new order and they have been sending me some great scents! I have noticed that the food type smells are really great in soy if you have a nice strong scent. I like to use 1 and 1/2 ounces FO per pound of wax. I really love it when I get the free samples from my suppliers , thats usually how they reel me in to by more and it works every time they do it. All around though I would say soy is juat as good as paraffin for a good scent throw.
  22. Hi Beach, I use the new Golden Brands 444 also. Your going to get those annoying sink holse with this wax. You are pouring at the right temp according to Jason at Golden Brands. I have poured at many different temperatures to try and avoid those pesky holes and weird looking tops and I always get them. I was lucky the other day though and got a perfect candle!!!! Just keep the heat gun handy and dont cover them while their cooling. All in all this is the wax I prefer the most and I even tested some others,,Shhhh!!!! dont tell my supplier I said that. Oh wait she reads these boards too. Really though this wax has a great look to it and it has great scent throw.
  23. Thanks for the info on the suppliers folks. I am up to about 40 scents now since I ordered some new ones from Soy Candle.com Thursday. I hate it when they send those free samples because I usually end up liking them and buying them. I do believe I am going to check out fragrance oil heaven after reading all your comments. Thanks for all your help once again:cheesy2: John
  24. Try the Hillbilly Homebrew from Natures Gardens. It has a wonderfull mulled cider smell. I carry about 30 of their scents and have not been dissapointed yet.
  25. I'm using the one from Natures Garden and it smells awsome. Its just like the real love spell from victoria secrets. It is one of my best sellers. i am also using the GW444 wax like you. I have really good luck with every scent I have bought from them.
