  1. I dont use the 415 but I do use the Golden Brands GW 444 and its great. I use these folks for my wax and it is even a little cheaper that what the above company is charging you. This is the company: www.soycandle.com this is a direct link to the GW 415 page: http://www.soycandle.com/product_info.php?products_id=4014 I have been buying from these folks since I started doing candles and their service is outstanding along with their prices.
  2. This is my main supplier also. Melissa is a trully wonderful person to deal with. They have the best price on wax and her scents are all soy tested. You cant go wrong shopping with them!
  3. I use the Golden Brands 444 and love it. I get mine from www.soycandle.com Their prices are so reasonable and they ship fast plus they have great scents that have been tested in soy. Ask for Melissa , shes extremely helpful and knows the business well. Natures Garden is a great place for good Scents too.
  4. Walmart is one of the best places to get a heat gun. I got my wagner there for around 21.95 plus tax. It only has 2 settings though. It is one of the best things I have ever bought for my candle business.
  5. Mine sits in my dining area in my condo in front of what I think is my table, but since I have 5o thousand other things that I sell at the flea market piled on top and around it so Im not sure if its really a dining area any more:cool2: I do keep my temperature at 78 degrees and the wax is always in the original box and plastic wrap that it came in. I also have left finished candles in my car all day too, thats not to smart though but my car smells really really good when I do that:shocked2:
  6. Their Black Rasberry Vanilla is awesome! Butt Naked is really great too. I carry over 30 of their scents and have only had one that I did not like. I think they are one of the best suppliers out there.
  7. Does it count if I make candles and sell other folks home made soap? I love making and selling candles, it is very time consuming and some what costly for the initial investment. The problem is I love good handcrafted soaps but I dont have the time or the knowledge to make my own. I do by good quality soaps made by others to sell at my markets and even allow them to put their labels on the soap(saves me money) I always give the soap maker credit for their work. People love good soaps and great smelling candles:yay:
  8. Brandies22, I get that in my candles also. If the top frosts I take a heat gun and go over the top. That make the top beautiful again. I dont know of any way to overcome the frosting in the bottom of the jar. I agree with accents and tell my customers its normal for soy, they understand and dont mind it.
  9. Oh my goodness are you guys still going on about Candle Wealth:shocked2: I have just three little words,,, Run Forest Run!!!!! Oh wait that was from the movie, oopss I plagiarized it. Well you know what I mean. I dont care what any one says , I looked into candle wealth's prices and oh boy where they expensive. I pay a whole lot less for my wax and I have a whole lot better scents available , and their cheaper, than any thing they have to offer. I do however oh Candle Wealth a big thank you for getting me interested in candles. Because of them I am now in the candle business, just not the candle wealth business. Fortunately for me I know how to do research and found this board and my very reasonable suppliers.
  10. Hi Bob and DonnaMarie, I use the Golden Brands Gw 444. I heat to 165 or 170 and pour at 130. I have also poured at 150. 160, 110 140 and so on. I get air pockets and sink holes but I blast them away with the heat gun. I am having great luck with the scents in the wax, good hot and cold throw. I do have frosting issues though. Sometimes it shows up fast sometimes it shows up later. I noticed that some scents dont frost while others are bad about it. I really dont get wet spots unless It gets really hot( I live in Florida) then they will weep a little bit. This is really a great wax with a super finish despite its little quirky problems. I have the jar, the wick, the scents and the wax down to a science now and am very happy with the way my candles finish out. PS: It did take a lot of mistakes to get it right though or do they call that testing:cheesy2:
  11. KIM, Break even, HA HA, your kidding right? You don't even want to know how much I have spent. I am a long ways from being even. I have 47 scents in my current inventory plus all the toys and goodies you need to do this business. Things like my presto kettle pot , my very best freind MR. Heat Gun and, hmm well you get the picture. I do this as a real part time business and have invested a bit more than the normal beginer. What most people dont realize is not only do your product supplies cost but I also sell in 3 different locations during the week all of which charge me rent. Then theres gas , tolls, and so on. So I figure my times got to be worth at LEAST .50 cents an hour:D I will tell you this though after a rough two summer months I am making enough to break even at my markets but like any business its gonna take a little bit of time to recoup my original costs. If you are in a good area and have great flea markets like I do your gonna make money, you just have to work hard at it. I fully intend to make a great partime income at this but I also know from being in business for myself most of my life that it does take time. The best thing you can do is read this board daily like I do. The folks here are great! They also are so helpful to beginners. Theres a lot of knowledge and very smart people hanging around here. I actually found my main suppliers by using this board , so I am a big fan of this place:yay: Good Luck!
  12. Gee I hope they got it all worked out since I am a big fan of Golden Brands. If every one is so worried just call Jason at Golden Brands and I will bet you he will put your mind at ease. I dont think they would jeapordize their company by ripping off a patent.
  13. wickerbeal, I dont know about a straight cinnamon but soycandle.com has a cinnamon bunn scent thats awsome and throws really good,,its nice in a cold throw too.
  14. Hi Tizimarezie, Welcome to fun and OH! NOT SO CHEAP! world of soy candles:cheesy2: I have only been doing it myself for about 3 months and me and MR. VISA are on a wild candle ride together. I have to tell you its very addictive and for me its sort of like therapy:cool2: However I do sell mine and am on the way to recovery. Lord that sounds like I am at an AA meeting. I have sold close to 300 of them so far. This can be a profitable hobby if you get your candle perfected just like you want it. All I got to say is thank God for this board and my really really helpful supplier. This place has the very best advice to give. Oh and dont forget to test , test and then test it one more time:D
  15. Hi folks I had a customer who asked for a Spruce , Fir , Outdoor sort of manly smell. Any Ideas? I just bought the Pine Needle scent but I dont think thats what hes looking for. I think he wants a cold winter day in the very tree smelling woods kind of feel. Does this make sense? Ah heck,, any ideas you guys have would be highly appreciated:cool2:
