  1. Yup, use that same one from AH/RE with my C3. It throws better than great! I wish all FO's performed as great as this one. My 21 yr old daughter has always asked for a strawberry/rhubarb pie on her b-day instead of a traditional cake since she was 9,... so naturally I had her test this candle for me earlier this summer. Instant love! Its a great seller too! I've learned the hard way to always keep an extra candle stashed away just for my daughter! She gets grumpy otherwise! Yup,..She's got her fathers temperament! :rolleyes2
  2. kandle ... yes,..My wick issue Is with container candles. The question about the wick pins was posted by ''CareBear''. Carebear is having some of the same wick issues,... but with pillars. Dont worry,.. confusion is usually a short trip for me as well!! Harley
  3. Whoops Stella, I was just getting things ready to start making some testers and decided to check-in here 1st and just saw your post! I promise I wasnt ignoring you,..you must have posted about the same time I did and I missed it some how. Sorry about that! Thanks for the advise Stella and especially for making me laugh!! I needed that! Thanks Carrie for answering my numb-skull question! I must have had a brain cramp. That dang candle snob woman has got me stressed out & fuming! Well Gonna gonna go twist some wicks and cry in my giant turkey/wax cooker now!! Hopefully things will look better tomorrow!! Thanks Again All!!
  4. Carrie & Kandle,..Thank You both for taking the time to offer your suggestions!! I think I understand your directions.,.. so I'll start by twisting N pouring some testers tonight and see how that works for me. Just curious... but will twisting the wax primmed wicks make the wax come off the wick? If I dont get the same results I guess I will then resort to searching for some cotton wicks. Thank-You Both Very Much!!
  5. 1st the basics: Use C3 soy, 7 % Fo pp, 1 T crisco pp, no dye or other additives. The wicks I had tested over several months were: lx, rrd's, eco's, & htp's. I settled on the htps because they performed the best for me in my wax.,..clean & complete burn, and I felt the best FO throw. (Also these particular HTP's were Veggie-Wax coated,.. which was part of marketing my soy candles) Ok there's the basics,....Here's my rant & dilemma... At large office where I'd been getting great sales from for the last few months ,.. there is a 'self-proclaimed' candle conisoure there, who was initially purchasing and complimenting me repeatedly about my candles,..but just recently she impled to me that quality was lacking because she noticed that the wicks were not centered and so she will no longer be purchasing them! I explained to her why I purposely & slightly off-center these particular wicks! When I saw I wasnt getting through to her,.. I simply told her I was sorry to be losing her as a customer. Now,..I'm hearing little comments from my other customers that work in the same building that they felt they should bring to my attention that they noticed the wicks in their last candles were off center!! I now find myself having to explain to the customers that these particular wicks curl/bend when burned and they require being placed slightly off center for that reason. But,..Its starting to look like the seed of doubt has already been planted... so now what to do? Orders from the very same people who have previously raved about my candles are now doubting the quality! This work place had the highest sales up to now! I know for a fact that the best advertising you can ever get is word of mouth.. but bad word of mouth can just as quickly kill a business! Anyone have suggestions on package wording to better explain my off- centered wicks???.... or as a last resort.. recommend another wick that doesn't Curl or need to be off-centered ,..but will perform just as well my C3?
  6. Welcome to the board Justin9, and Congrats on discovering for yourself the wax & FO obsession we've all fallen vulnerable to!! utt ohhh! Just give it some time and you'll be onto the electric turkey fryer/ TurknSurf next!! No plumbing hardware needed! Have fun pouring , and keep us updated with the types of candles and fragrances your experimenting with!!
  7. You need wicks if you plan on burning them! Just teasing!! To prevent your colors from fading you may want to add some UV Inhibitor/stabilizer to your wax as well. I personally dont use dyes but use the this uv in hopes it will help to prevent certain FO's from discoloring the wax: http://www.bittercreeksouth.com/additives.htm I'm using c3 as well! I got a great throw with peaks ocean at 1.5 oz per pound of wax. It took a bit to cure ...and now I'm sitting on my hands waiting to test some other FO's I put into a few candles this weekend. Good Luck!! It sounds like your doing well!! And Welcome to the board!
  8. I dont do candles in the large scale like some of you here, but i'm loving my turkey fryer to no end!! I bought a little kitchen cart thats on casters at walmart to free up the table and counter space. It has 2 table top extensions that can be raised or lowered for more table top space. It also has a small drawer and 3 little metal pull out baskets underneath that you can use for storage. My fryer sits on top of the cart and I can just roll it over closer to the table and plug it in when making my candles., then I just push the cart with the fryer on it back into the corner outta the way. I can probably find a link to what it looks like if anyone is interested.
  9. Ohh my gosh!! I am loving the resin ones!! Love the wine ones, and the pet ones are adorable!! Gotta get the horse one too!! Wish they were electric darn it!!
  10. ya, I dont think those would go over too well! Sorry, I've been trying to think of one for cinnamon for you but nothing is coming to me!
  11. I wonder if you could use hurricane wax to make it? Then fill it with a really soft container wax and a tabbed tealight wick. Or if there is enough height in the bottom heart I'd put a little circle of cork in the bottom then drop in a clear cup tealight and fill in around the tealight cup with some more hurricane wax? Not sure if plastic mold would survive the heat of the wax without warping though?? Just throwing out thoughts! Looks like a fun little project to play with. Whatever you do, I would still put it on a heatproof plate and test test test!! Post a pic If you give it a shot! I would love to see it! The rub n buff is a great idea for the raised letters.
