  1. I remember reading somewhere here that if you shrink wrap (such as Dans Bands) your soap, that over time when it loses water, they will become loose. Ok, I have 2 questions...1) How long to soaps continue to loose moisture?? 2) If and when they do become loose can you just hit them with the heat gun again and shrink them a bit more?? I know when I think I've got it shrunk, then I see a spot that doesn't look "perfect" I can just hit it again and it shrinks right up? Is there some knid of time limit?? TIA for any help that you can give me... Lord knows I NEED it:D
  2. Hey!! :yay: :highfive: I made my first batch yesterday too... and it looked just like that too! Yeah we did it. I did use refined shea and it is super white, and scented it with WSP Asian Plum...yum!
  3. I don't care for sandalwood, but my friend requested this scent so I bought some and soaped it...outside in the garage. I got it from WSP and 4% (36 oz oils & 1.4 oz FO) http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=678&ProductName=Crafters+Choice%e2%84%a2+Sandalwood+Fragrance+Oil+499 and it behaved fine for me, It is curing next door in her bedroom. I went over there a few days ago and still smells strong. She loves this FO so much she had me buy a bottle of it so she could put it in her laundry detergent...I suppose if you can leave it on your skin you can wash your clothes in it. I take her son to school and everytime her gets in the car he smells like sandalwood. HTH:D
  4. Congrats on your first soaps...they look great! And bet they smell really good.
  5. I can't wait to see it cut Carrie... bet it will look as good as it smells. I am gearing up to do one of your soaps, hofully tommorw. I guess I will have to check out that link for your mold. Great job, and I am sure that they will be above your expectations:D Make sure to put cut pics in as soon as you ge them done.
  6. Yeah!! My big question is... Did you stand there and smell all the FO's! Everytime I go there, I have to smell at least a dozen and most of them i have already taken a whiff of... but still can't stop myself. It is a bummer that they don't carry more B&B supplies than the bases. I do like their FO's but let me give you a warning... the Cashmere Bliss will sieze on you in CP and turn a horrid orange color then morph to a brown color. Just my experience. Let us know how you like your stuff.
  7. Very nice. I love the soft swirls and bet they smell delish! Great job, keep up the good work.
  8. That looks great e... the girls (I am assuming) did a great job... future soapers I bet.
  9. I know this is an older thread... but I too have 2 Flav oils from WSP and both of them...well... suck. The Cherry Vanilla and the Pina Colada...both smell ok OOB, but no taste and I think no sweetner...even though they state pre-sweetened. Oh well...I am off to look some more. Now what the heck to I do with them!?? Sorry to hear that others are having probs with them too, but nice to know I am not alone!
  10. those look greast...love the swirl action
  11. love the colors you chose for each scent...very fitting. The soaps look wonderful!
  12. love it!! You gals never stop amazing me
  13. beautiful. I love the colors of the blackberry sage...it ironic I soap pretty much the same colors last night for Awapuhi Seaberry (MMS).
  14. looks great! Looks very creamy and smooth.
  15. Nice, very nice and I bet it smells delish... I haven't had a chance to smell it either... writing it on my list of scents to try.
  16. Thanks guys for the sweet compliments. Steph in TX... I know I was shocked that my first swirls were actually pretty good. I did a lot of reading and this was I really tried to follow, it didn't work exactly like this because I pored at light trace and I am sure that it was probably light trace, I couldn't get my swirl color completely covered. I was just looking at one of the cut pics (from the side) and looks like the A&M longhorn logo...maybe it's just me though. Here in the link and I hope it works! http://beauxeaux.com/swirltutorial/howtoswirl.htm I did try another swirl, this time in a log mold...we'll see how it goes. It doesn't look like much from the top... but looks can be deciving:D Thanks again everyone
  17. Donna... I hear you about not being able to go to B&BW..except it is not me it is my 6 year old DD that comes out smelling crazy... She doesn't understand that there is a such thing as "too much". She is my sniff tester, she wants to make B&B when she "grows-up". She's too cute. Let us know how the scent is when you get it. I just placd and order Friday night!!! DAMN!
  18. I use a bunch of their FOs... I have had no problems with them in CP or bath and body. The shipping was killing me until they started the flat rate program (0-$25)... but I really like them and use them a bunch.
  19. Just saw that WSP added this scent! Have not tried it... saince it is new. Hopefully it smells like BBW They also just added Blissful Blackberry...I really like that scent... again haven't tried, but hope it is a good dupe.
  20. Here are the cut pics. I have to say I am pretty pleased with the swirls... now the scent is a whole different story... I DO NOT like it, but I sucked it up and took one for the team. I have no idea how to edit the title or edit my first post... and I don't have time to look it up right now, but I will later!! This is the bottlon of the batch... I need to make them a better size. Side view of the swirls. Thanks for all the encouragement and nice comments. I really appreciate it!!
  21. Thanks everyone! It didn't gel do it is a little more muted in color, but that is fine with me. jennhalcyon, I just have to say that when I put the pic on the thread I saw my shoes too ... and well... I am too lazy to go back and do all the croping for it! I am glad that someone else got a good laugh. And this is why I am not the photograper of the family... my mom is.
  22. Okay so I did my first "swirl"... :yay: I have done in the pot before, but seeing so many beautiful soaps for you "soap gods", made me do it... damn you bullies! So here is is...scented with Sandalwood the main color is with brown oxide and the swirls are black oxide. I attempted the layering swirl and a zig zag stream of swirl color... hopefully it will look good inside too. A little too much black, but hey I will get better at it as I keep going. Thanks for looking and I will post cut pics when I get there.
  23. Thanks for the quick PMs! I will post pics of my first swirl tomorrow... in-laws just got here and eveyone wants to go to bed. I could go for another batch of soap though!! LOL Thanks again!! You guys and gals here ROCK!!!
