  1. Can't find the raffle candle right now. Think it's on another computer. However, I have a few gel pics at http://photos.yahoo.com/lucidownsouth if you're interested in seeing some other things besides the traditional gel in a container.
  2. I do lots of gel candles. Depending on the gel supplier, most come with instructions as to temperature, etc. I started out by getting the 7 lb bucket at Michaels. It runs @ $30 there, but I would use a coupon for 40% off or when it was on sale. I had lots of orders for Christmas with various themes. Postitioning embeds that "float" can be a pain waiting, etc. I got a lot of other info on different websites about bubbles, etc. I'll post a pic of one that I did for a raffle if I can find it.
  3. I sure hope you don't mind if I take this idea for our ladies aux breast cancer fundraiser. I saw some of the ribbons for sale a while back and wondered what I could do with them. Now I have an idea!
  4. Looks and sounds like you're having a really good time. Nice to have something fun to do indoors and out of this heat. I remember Columbia summers from grad school days!
  5. That's a good idea, Sheila. I've signed up for one or two. Was lucky that I had and got in on the $1 sale Aroma Haven was having a while back. I was able to try a lot of scents with that sale. Thanks for reminding me that I need to go to other sites and sign up!
  6. I've used that scent from them and love it, too!
  7. I think they look nice. One of these days I'll get the nerve to try pillars. I've seen some of the most beautiful ones on here. Never see any that look any better in even the really expensive gift shops in this area.
  8. I bought my crystals, scents, and jar lids at BCS,
  9. My experience with those that take a long time hasn't been positive. They indicate that shipping will be fast and charge for priority. If you have an item for sale on ebay shouldn't you have it ready for shipping when it's over? I think if it's gonna take weeks to get a product in the mail you should say so.
  10. I'm with Islandgirl. Get the purse AND the storm door!!
  11. No problem with the length. I was just curious if you ever had a resolution. I like to be aware of wacky stuff. That's still not as wacky as the excuses I got from Kandies the last couple of times I ordered from her. This last time, it was a doozy. Too unbelievable. I had been so happy with her things in the past. I have to wonder if she is not going through some personal crisis. Her website just said she was downsizing to spend more time with the family. That's such a "politicians" remark.
  12. I'm curious as to whether you ever heard from them??
  13. Lots of people around here in the parks sell the neck ties made with them. I bought one once at Universal Studios. You soak it in ice water for a while then tie it around your neck.
  14. I don't get it. I just went and checked on 4 jars I made in that one and only batch I did about a month ago. The plastic inserts are perfectly intact. I know it has been well over a month because I had 2 from that batch in different rooms in my house and while I was waiting on wax to cool I added more distilled water and fo to them since they were getting low. As far as the garden crystals, I think I'll just stick to the ones I bought that are marketed as for smelly jellies. The one time I bought some for potting plants, I spilled a bunch on my patio pavement. When it got wet, it made a horrible mess and I had a bad fall. Decided my plants didn't need them.
  15. Thanks for the link, Fern-Marie. I went there and read a little bit and will go back to read more. I did read the recipe & it is almost the same except instead of the salt I used the vodka. I wasn't planning to use the garden version since I have more than enough of what I bought from BCS. However, I haven't noticed any problem with the plastic covers----yet! How long before they melt? What do you use instead?
  16. Both of you have beautiful items!
  17. Glad you brought that up. I've only made one batch & put no warning or instructions. Gave them to friends & family for cars, etc. I'm not happy with how the recipe I used turned out. I got the recipe from the Aroma Haven website. I used vodka instead of the germaden for preservative. I read that the vodka does just as good. Went to the liquor store and bought a cheap bottle. Problem is, my hairdresser stopped by while I was mixing & drank most of the vodka. I only got one batch made!
  18. I ordered the lids, crystals, and plastic insert covers from BCS. They fit on some 4 oz jars I got at the grocery store. I read somewhere that I could have used the same crystals I have bought at Home Depot for potting soil to hold water. Haven't checked since I already bought from BCS.
  19. Been working on packaging for dead sea salts tonight. Poured a couple of container candles today that I'm anxious to test! Also need to do some goat milk soap for a friend. TOOO HOT here for the yard work I need to do. Parade on the island Tues that I need to help my brother do an entry for--he's running for county council so has to do the parade thing. Will also work in some fruit preserve jar candles. Busy!
  20. I'm learning and buying from several suppliers for fo. I know that just like anything, people have different opinions and different experiences with everything. However, I was looking at ebay items, and a seller had a lot of fo on sale. Her description had the comment in it to the effect that her stuff was top quality from top quality suppliers. She ended it with the comment--none of that gemlite crap. Was this just a grudge comment, or is there something wrong with that supplier?
  21. Gorgeous! I would be so proud!
  22. Very elegant and classy. I admire your talent and taste.
  23. I like them just the way they are. I think the labels look nice. Nothing cheap about anything there.
  24. I have been thinking about ordering some cb 135 so would appreciate any additional comments. I made this decision after reading that it is good when scent is important.
