  1. I don't know an exact shelf life. I have never had bars lose their scents. But I have had MP soap shrink in size as it aged.
  2. I am about to place my usual order for FO's at Nature's Garden, and I was wondering what I cannot live without. I will be making all kinds of soap and body products. What can't you resist?
  3. GREAT SOAP! I never would have guessed that this is only your second batch.
  4. I think that your soap is just lovely!
  5. Bunny, I just was going to post the same thing. I use coconut oil in a whipped body butter. The raves that I have received are enough for me to add more scents and keep this product in stock.
  6. I have only had two fragrance oils out of the hundreds that I have go bad. I have more oils than I have hair on my head, and I have a lot of hair. LOL! Both of these oils smelled positively sickening. One was from WSP and the other was from Cedarvale. A couple have lost their scents completely.
  7. I voted for a fruity scent. Not only will the kids love it, but so will the adults. My sons (ages 8 and 4) screamed for the fruit one at the same time. LOL! A cherry, berry, grapey scent would be great. Neither boy liked the cotton candy. Bubble Gum came in second.
  8. I love bayousome.com's shower gel base. I just ordered it. I think that you can only get it in the 5 gallon size now if I am not mistaken. So you had better try a sample size first. I also wanted to add that I have never been disappointed in anything that I have tried from Nature's Garden.
  9. soapmom25, you sound almost exactly like me! This is what I do as well. I store my scraps in marked containers. If I cannot make a full bar after pouring, then that becomes a "scrap" and I cut it up into samples. I give a way a lot of samples. But when I need bars to sell and run out of a particular scent, I take any remaining samples in the scent that I plan on making and put it in with the new base to melt. I pour the hot finished base into bars. Sometimes I get exactly enough full size bars. If not, the whole sample process starts all over again.
  10. The dry masks never sold well for me. I thought the idea was a brilliant one and I still do. But I found that most of my customers just wanted to apply it without fiddling around and mixing stuff. Just some food for thought...
  11. I remelt MP when necessary and I never have any problems. I do melt it with additional base that has never been used.
  12. FUNKY MONKEY MONKEY BUSINESS That is all that I have to offer. I could NEVER use the name Monkey Farts. It does not work with my business style at all.
  13. My customers love BCN"s Eggnog and I can never keep enough in stock.
  14. I am not much help to your questions, but is it possible that there is enough preservative in the base already to accomodate the addition of the distilled water? I did not think the preservatives clashed either.
  15. I totally agree with mountainmadness in that Oatmeal Milk & Honey, Lemon, and Vanilla are great neutrals. My list of neutrals would be: Oatmeal Milk & Honey Lemon Vanilla Orange (or a nice citrus blend) Ocean
  16. I am SO glad that this thread was posted. I have been looking for a Basil FO and was about to post the very same question about a straight basil FO.
  17. What a shame! I have been lucky that this has never happened to me. I have had another kind of problem though a few times. Once in a while a really nice sample is sent to me. I order that scent and it does not smell like the sample. For example, I smelled an awesome rose sample from a supplier. I go and order that scent because the sample smelled so nice. The bottle that I receive smells like rose, but it does not smell nearly as good as the sample did. I have stopped ordering from certain companies because of this.
  18. I have made a nice living in the bath and body business for over six years now. I am a stay at home mom of 3 young kids and was determined to have the best of both worlds- motherhood and a career. I work around 6 "scattered" hours a day. My husband often says that he is floored that I make such a nice paycheck.
  19. I could not agree more. I make all kinds of soap. Some of my very best are MP.
  20. I am in a joint partnership with insurance. LLC is too much of a headache at times. However, I do not sell candles, so that makes things easier for me.
  21. I don't have any catagories at all. I never have. Everything is listed alphabetically under the heading of SOAP. I do this because if someone is just interested in lets say- fruit scents, they may not smell anything else or notice anything else. This system has worked well for me.
  22. First, the soap that you made is great looking. Next, you have to pour your layers relatively quick. I have found that the cooler the layers are, the more likely it is that separation will occur.
  23. MP is just fine to use quickly, and yes you can shrink wrap it. However, your shrink wrap may wrinkle over time becasue MP has a tendency to shrink a bit. One bit of advise, try to wrap your soaps right after you unmold them. If you cannot wrap them quickly, then just keep them in the mold until you are ready.
  24. I know what you mean, but there is no convincing some people of anything. Some people just like using shower gel over any soap. I hate shower gel and only use soap.
