  1. I would imagine that it would be okay to use some of these oils from a grocery store. However, I only buy grapeseed oil from reputable suppliers online. It has a short shelf life and I want to be sure that I am buying something that has a fast turn over from the seller. Grapeseed could be sitting on the shelf for a while in the grcery store. Just be careful with the short shelf life items.
  2. Yup, no preservative is necessary. Your body butter sounds divine!
  3. The white base from BC had great lather. I purchased from them two years ago. The reason that I did not buy it again is simply because I buy in large quantity. I found bulk base elsewhere to be less expensive for me. I also agree with carolgrant that you should never let your MP boil. Do not over do it with FO and a tad of castor in any base is great for lather.
  4. I wish I could help you, but I have only tried their white base. It is very good.
  5. I have never had any irritations at all when I have added too much FO to MP soap. However, if you add too much FO to MP, not only will the lather be poor, but you may have a "rubber" bar of soap that disappears in half the time.
  6. I use practically every color faithfully. I would be lost without my Select Shades.
  7. I have always blended my own Orange Clove. Then I am sure to get it exactly as I like it. I use SC"s Mandarin Orange along with BCN's Clove.
  8. No need to be embarrassed. I have always prefered "golden" oils. To me it just looks richer. But this is just my personal taste.
  9. That is a shame that you can't pick up from SW. I am sure that they have their reasons. I am pretty close to them too, but I don't order from them. They are too busy and it takes much too long for me to get my shipments. I also have a tendency to like straight up scents and do my own blending. The few oils that I have gotten from them though were very nice.
  10. My Apple Pie soap is a keeper. Anything with apple in it will sell I think. I cannot keep appley stuff in stock in the fall and winter months. I do well with pine scents as well as Pumpkin Pie and Gingerbread scents.
  11. I love it! Cuc is a favorite of mine. I would by yours in a heartbeat.
  12. I like the golden. It has that "perfume" color that is so attractive.
  13. I love WSP, Peaks, Brambleberry, Nature's Garden, and MMS very much. However, if I could only have one supplier for FO's, it would be Sweet Cakes hands down. MMS would be next.
  14. I always order from them for the free shipping deal. I love their English Rose, Lemon Pound Cake, Honeysuckle Hollow, Peach Nectar, Cinnamon... I could list forever. I have only had a couple of scents out of MANY that were total bombs.
  15. Well this is good to know! I was going to say not to get the one from BCN. It just smells like brown sugar to me.
  16. LOL! All that I EVER smell in BC's pumpkin pie scent is buttered popcorn. I put in some spice scent of my own and it does well.
  17. For me a "pink" scent would be a blend of something like: light rose notes, with stronger notes of vanilla and a hint of raspberry.
  18. I hear ya Grumpy Girl! But aren't bases like $30 a gallon? And shipping is something unless you pick it up. Shea is costly, so I think that this seller just loves to sell.
  19. The seller's shipping is very fair, even on the low side. So she is not making really anything on shipping. She has over 100 body butters on auction for that price, so I doubt that it is a clearance thing. Even for wholesale this price seems strange because there are ebay fees to consider as well as paypal fees. Maybe she is doing it for the sheer joy of it. Who knows? I just don't know how anyone can consistently sell a shea body butter for so little.
  20. I was looking for something on ebay that had nothing to do with body butter. However, many body butters from the same seller popped up during my search. (Evidently a few key words that I typed must have brought up this seller's listings.) Anyway, this seller has 8 oz body butters listed for $5.99! Isn't this awfully cheap or is it just me??? I sell a lot of body butter and could not possibly sell an 8 ounce jar for under 6 bucks. I sell a 4 ounce jar for $6.00. I buy in bulk all of the time to keep costs down and I have a very nice profit margin. The seller on ebay has been selling for a LONG time. So I was curious how a person can make money on body butter with such low prices. In my opinion, this seller cannot be making anything once you take into account all of the ebay fees, paypal fees, packaging, time to make product, etc... Perhaps I am wrong, but I think that such low prices demeans handmade products for all of us. :embarasse
  21. Well thanks everyone for all of the great suggestions. And now tro ponder...
  22. Thanks for all of the input everyone. While I love most of BCN FO's, they just never stick well in my lotions for some unknown reason. Go figure!
