  1. I love their lip balm base. Glad that you are happy with everything. Don't orry about the pipettes. I never use them. I find that the balm hardens quickly in plastic. Try a Pyrex measuring cup or beaker with a thin (almost needle nosed) spout. Works great!
  2. I think that this worked out great for you. GOOD LUCK!
  3. I think that name may be too long. But I LOVE "Heather's Cabin". If you have a picture of a cabin with trees, the "in the woods" part does not seem necessary to me. The picture will say it all. Just a thought...
  4. Well that does make perfect sense. I have gotten plenty of base that is rough and flakey- only about an inch at most on the top. I assumed that a machine was cutting the blocks. Now I know that it is dried suds. LOL!
  5. Did you ever think of using your name Heather with some heather flowers incorporated into the logo? You have an excellent first name. You really should use it somehow.
  6. I melt it, add my flavor, and pour it right into the tubes. I wait and fill it again because as it hardens, the top sinks and needs a bit more. I have never had a grainy problem.
  7. I have had that happen and it is perfectly usable. It probably got flakey from rough cutting or something. Does it appear to be clean? If not, than I would contact the manufacturer.
  8. I have to join in and say that this is the best base out there. I also see no reason why you would have any problems with a tin. Sounds great!
  9. Oh please let us know what you choose and how you like it. I would love to have this beautiful scent for my customers!
  10. I won't go into a long discussion about Wellington. They have one of the worst oils on the planet. A few are nice for bath and body products. Next to none work well in soap. ALL of them are weak. Many of them change into something unknown to man when they are out of the bottle and in a product. Yes, there is a $10 fee when you order less than $75 or $100. I cannot remember which amount. That is much too much to spend on these low quality oils.
  11. Well sandisoap, I am sure that your soaps were wonderful, but you are lucky that you did not end up with a mohawk.
  12. I don't have a problem with brown soap. But many customers do if it is supposed to smell like candy corn. People generally like the scent to relate to the color of the product.
  13. Cheap does NOT have to be crappy. I will never skimp on the product itself. But I sure as heck skimp on packaging, etc... The trick is not to LOOK like you are being cheap.
  14. LOL!!!!!!!! It makes awesome body products though.
  15. I agree about the charging. I only have a debit card and an American Express card which I HAVE to pay at the end of EVERY month in full. Consequently, I not only enjoy the benefits of a sale, but I have no debt whatsoever. I think that not charging is the single best thing that you can do for your business. I could never skimp on ingredients, but I will skimp on jars and bottles and look for the best deals.
  16. I think that the garbage bag might have too many wrinkles too.
  17. I absolutely LOVE the one from cotton blossom crafts.
  18. I loved the concept when I first heard of it. I sold it for a while and then canned it. Most of my customers love my shower gel more. I make a mean gel and just did not think that it was worth it for me to compete with my own product. I also did not like the mess on the floor of my shower.
  19. As my rule of thumb I list all of my ingredients on everything that I sell- including my CP and HP soaps. You just never know. Someone could be allergic to certain ingredients. I just like to remain on the side of caution.
  20. It absolutely increases sweating if you put your MP soap in the freezer. It also depends on what base you are using. Some bases just sweat no matter what you do. I also think that too much FO causes sweaty soap.
  21. I don't know if it is the best, but I like the one from BCN. It sells very well too.
  22. I do this full time. I would not be able to do this if I did not have a supportive and enthusiastic husband. I have three young kids and still wanted to make money for our household. With a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, I have built a business that I am proud of. I am not The Body Shop by any stretch, but I do quite well for myself and my home.
  23. Don't overdo it with the FO. If you are going to color the soap, make sure to incorporate it well. Mix like mad! And as already mentioned, do not let your soap boil. LEt your soap fully harden too or they will be hard to get out of the mold. They also can be rubbery and lose the shape. GOOD LUCK!
