  1. I feel the same way. I CAN see Monkey Farts selling to kids by the name. But how do you explain SEX ON THE BEACH to kids?
  2. Is there something wrong with me that I like sex on the beach and monkey farts?
  3. The name Monkey Farts is not a name I would put in my line and I am far from uptight. It has nothing to do with turning off customers. I would not sell SEX ON THE BEACH either. It depends on what you want depicted in your product line. However, I would never ask the creator to change the name though. She could have said that the name does not suit her shop and given the product back to you. It is up to you if you want to sell it under another name or not. I always change fragrance oil names anyway, so it is not a big deal to me. If you feel strongly that the soap should be Monkey Farts, then don't bring the soap back to the store. As far as new names go: Monkey Business Monkey Paradise Monkey Jungle Banana Smoothie
  4. Negative feedback should be a thread all its own! You are absolutely right. The fear of poor feedback often takes over a seller's good sense. I used to be afraid of bad feedback. I have never received a negative yet, but I do have a few neutrals. I got over it quickly and honestly do not fear negatives now. I realize that the customers who left me neutrals did it to other sellers and were simply impossible to please. Others were flat out crooks who wanted freebies at my expense. There ARE difficult people in this life that we have to deal with. I do a lot to ensure that customers are happy. But I will absolutely NOT have a customer take advantage of me.
  5. I put delivery confirmation on everything. Right now I am dealing with a woman who claims that her order did not arrive. Tracking shows that it was delivered on 2/8. I told her to contact her post office and speak to her carrier. Her letter carrier told her that he delivered it as stated. She was away for a week and finally said that someone probably stole it. She did not put mail hold while she was gone. She just let her mail pile up. Tracking is to prove that I did my part. I did my part and that is the end of that. I do not feel that you owe this woman anything. Had her package been damaged or sent elsewhere regardless of whether she insured it or not, I would replace the item. But since this is not the case, be done with it.
  6. It makes no difference when you add the VCS. As I rule, I put it in as soon as the base is melted. This way, I never forget. Have a blast!
  7. I think so too... You reap what you sow.
  8. I never wait in line. I drop off pre-paid packages at the end of the counter, and I STILL received attitude. I guess it is too much for them to take my packages off of the counter and put it in the bin behind them. I guess walking 10 feet and getting paid for it is just too difficult for them.
  9. File a complaint online. Seriously. I am sorry this happened to you. I have found most postal workers behind the counter to be indifferent and just plain rude. (Sorry to postal workers who are kind and polite.) I feel this way based on 5 different post offices in my area over a course of 15 years of shipping. I do have the most wonderful letter carrier. She is a doll! However, I have no idea what is up with the clerks behind the counter in the post offices near me.
  10. I love it! I would buy this in a flash. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE unscented soap!
  11. I think that your first soap looks just great. I hope that all goes well with it!
  12. I have used all three mentioned here, and all work the same in my opinion. Currently I am using the one from BCN. However, it should be mentioned that the BCN stabilizer has a very strong smell that to me is bordeing on dangerous. I will not buy it again simply because it can burn your nose hairs out! LOL! It does not have the smell at all in the finished soap.
  13. I just printed a label with no problem. Hope it works for you now!
  14. VERY NICE! Really upbeat, contemporary, and fun to watch. HIGH FIVE!
  15. I agree that Etsy's fees are getting outrageous. However, I do not agree that ArtFire is a better choice. I have the exact same site at both places. I sell a lot on Etsy and very little on ArtFire. My best sales are on my own site. I guess what works for one person does not always work for another.
  16. ProudMarineMom, you are descibing the scents very well! Here is what I want to know: Is there a chemical smell to the oils overall? (Excluding the alcohol smell that you mentioned in the apple Cloverleaf.) Do the scents smell realistic? (They may not be what you are looking for, but do they smell true?) How strong are they OOB compared to other companies that you have used? Any input is appreciated!
  17. CONGRATS and welcome to the addiction! I LOVE unscented soap.
  18. The rates for RR are right there with the other rates. There is an entire list of costs with shipping options. Go onto the usps site and click on the top bar SHIP A PACKAGE. You will be able to choose your oprions from a drop bar. You can just calculate a rate or actually ship the package by clicking on PRINT A LABEL WITH POSTAGE.
  19. I TOTALLY share the sentiment "Screw family and their opinions"... Most know nothing at all. My soap lathers like crazy and my extended family still uses store bought soap. Creatures of habit, I guess... that and probably just plain stupid.
  20. I am pretty sure the brambleberry base is SFIC. I also think that you have no need to worry. Low sweat base is a pretty consistent product designed for humid conditions. At worse, you will have a softer bar of soap with the addition of so many additives. Make a tiny batch and see. I would not subject the finished soap in an overly humid environment like the shower. Just see what happens if you make just two or three bars of soap. Unmold them early in the day and see what happens.
  21. I have to agree with this. I had one bad experience where it took almost two months for me to receive a 16 oz Lily of the Valley oil. I never had any other problems though in numerous orders. I do still order Select Shades and their shipping is extremely prompt.
  22. I hope they come back in full force soon too. I have never gotten over their amazing Lily of the Valley, Plumeria, Vanilla, and many others....
  23. I agree. I am not sure that she "isn't a friend". Some people are REALLY thick and just don't think. I have a relative that I love to death. She is a good person, is wonderful to me and to my family, gives great advice, etc... HOWEVER, once in a while she says things that she does not realize are hurtful. Yes, she can be dense... I tell her every time and she always gets it after the fact. Everything else about her far outweighs the few stupid things that she does... I think you should tell your friend exactly how stupid and hurtful that she was. Does she do this sort of thing often? If she does, that is a BIG RED FLAG... Otherwise, give her a chance to say why she behaved like such an ass... At the very least, you will get this whole incident off your chest.
