  1. Anyone used both polyquat's 7 and 10? Help? Please? From reading descriptions, they both SOUND like they do the same thing.. One is powder, one is liquid. Both soluable in water. So, anyone want to talk quats??
  2. I use 1/2 ice 1/2 water for my lye. Gets to be 95 degrees in less than 30 minutes. I wouldn't worry about the hard water Linda. I also wouldn't put my lye water in the freezer. The fumes next to food I'm going to eat? The high temp of the lye water also isn't good to have in the freezer for your food. It might raise the temp in the freezer to unsafe levels. How do you do it Carriegs? Am I thinking wrong?
  3. Ok.. I've gone through most of my suppliers, and can't figure out who this is. Who's gonna give me the scoop! Please!
  4. I'm sorry Mrs Grooms, I honestly didn't mean to offend you. As you can see HP is one of the soaping methods I didn't even think of. I thought of rebatch and M&P. I can't possibly memorize what method everyone chooses to use. Once again, I'm sorry to have offended you.
  5. Black Raspberry & Vanilla and Cranberry Apple Tea are my fav's in everything!
  6. OMG you're too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Well.. Ahem.. Cough cough.. It would sure help if you let us know what you were using it for? Rebatch? M&P? Chili??
  8. I use the huge gladware containers for my butters.. They stack so well!
  9. Rinse your cups out before you throw them away. Mark everything.. The lye, the jug, the spoon, everything. Find a way to lock it up if possible.
  10. All ya'll are nuts.. Just plain nuts. But I guess we all have our vices. Some of ya'll are fo ho's, some of ya'll are mo (ld) ho's.. I'm just an ad (ditive) ho...
  11. Other "stiff" you need?? OMG Sharon.. This is a PG board!!!! Ok, PG 13.. (LMAO!) You're too cute!
  12. With lots and lots and lots of COLD water. Please be careful.
  13. The 6x6 is way to big for most soap. I get the 4x6 and take about an inch of the end. HTH!
  14. I don't get why people spend big bucks on molds girl.. I picked my packaging and what size i want my finished soap to be - and built molds around that. You can sweet talk the guys at the lumberyard to make all the cuts for you, and all you have to do is put it together.
  15. OMG girl! No don't save it! And mark your containers better! The question should be, how do I properly dispose of xx amount of lye? How much is it?
  16. Well lookie what the cat drug in! WOOHOO!! Ok ok.. Back to the topic.. Their BRV throws like mad in paraffin, and the chai tea too. Haven't tried any of the others!
  17. Hmm.. sale at Peaks??? LOL! The new layout looks fab! Can't wait to see the new items they are going to carry!
  18. How true Nat... LMAO @ the weird stuff. How true..
  19. From what I'm reading on the OK sales tax site, you tax your in state orders at your tax rate. Now, if you hand delivered, those would be taxed at the different county rates. Will keep looking to find something more definitive.
  20. So when you pay your taxes, you send a different check to each county?
  21. I add at the end of the cook, before the first whipping and before I rot it. You gonna make cream soap too! WOOOHOOO!!!
  22. Some say no, it doesn't need it as the ph is too high for the bacerita, yeast, or fungus to grow. Some say yes, because sooo much water is introduced while it probably won't grow, it's still possible. Me? I choose to preserve.
  23. First, Optiphen might not work in cream soap. Cream soap normally has a ph of 10-11, and most preservatives, including optiphen isn't enough at that ph. You can use Suttocide A which is good up to a ph of 12. Straight up Optiphen isn't all inclusive as a preservative. It doesn't protect against yeast and fungus, only microbial growth. http://www.ispcorp.com/products/preservatives/content/brochure/optiphen/optiphen.pdf Check out the chemistry store and lotioncrafter for most of your ingredients. HTH! And have fun!
