  1. We want pics! We want pics! We want pics!
  2. That would be way too labor intensive for me..
  3. Lol.. Believe me, I tried! The letters aren't very big, and I can't get the mica just on the letters! Am going to try wiping the letters with water, brushing on the mica, and blowing off the excess and see if it comes out better.
  4. The supplier announcements get cleared every week.. No worries ya'll..
  5. Generally you can pour cooler an not get those dips. HTH
  6. Thanks for the honest feedback. Maybe just in layered or single colored bars? Or to cover up a bad swirl?
  7. Oh definetly need to change the color. Just did this one to see what the stamp would look like! Scented, remember when you first started you used Robin's tutorial on CP soap? That's exactly how I do it, with one step added. After pouring in the "C", I take a whisk and stir around the pot 1 time. More, and it all runs together. Oh, and remember thin trace! DiamondK, I got this one through a co-op on the dish, but KB now also makes custom soap stamps. Have heard the quality is the same, and the price is about the same too. Just have to be careful not to have a lot going on in the stamp, or it'll loose readability.
  8. I can stamp them any color I want.. The bourdeaux mica just happened to be closest to me! I didn't stamp but that one bar for the order, as I didn't want to "learn" with a batch that needed to go out asap. Will practice on scraps here at the house! Thanks so much for the compliments ya'll!
  9. Scented L' Air Du Temps (aka old people flowers) She ordered 3 logs of this stuff! TD white base with a UM blue swirl. And my new custom soap stamp! Still have to practice a bit with it, but I'm loving it!
  10. I use OWK scales too.. Ok.. Last night when I read "postal scales" for some stupid reason I thought "scales at the post office" and not a postal scale you can purchase. LOL! So yes, go with it if it's workin for ya! The scales at the PO don't have to be calibrated. I know how many boxes of mine have been weighed there, I can't imagine them not being required to calibrate them weekly!
  11. Umm. No it's not. Not by any means. Those scales at the PO are NOT calibrated on a regular basis, if at all. I'd rather make soap using measuring spoons than use a postal scale.
  12. No girl.. But try making it with lard instead of the palm!! OMG, while it may sound gross, it feels fantastic! Are you sure your new scale is accurate? Isn't 5 quarters an ounce? Hmmmm...
  13. I've never had sugar do that to a batch yet, but I can't say for sure.
  14. Definetly drop both temps girl! May the soap fairy's stay far away!
  15. CB.. Did you take temps like on this batch like you more than likely did when you first started? Or discount you water this time and didn't last time? With the temp thing, I have found that every month or so I check my oils temps as the longer I go without taking them, the hotter I soap each batch. Not on purpose of course..lol But higher temps can lead to ricing in some fo's, and because you soaped so cool you may not have realized you had a finiky fo. Same thing with water discounts..
  16. It totally depends on your recipe. If you have semi soft soap though, it's harder to get clean lines. I've got a pretty hard recipe, and if I'm going to bevel or plane I do it about 3 days after it's cut. Softer recipes you can push to 1 or 2 weeks.
  17. There honestly isn't a natural preservative I can recommend, because no natural ones I have tried have passed the at home tests. Check out this link: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21759 and see which one might fall into more areas of useability (I love making up new words) for you. Personally, I use Phenonip, but it does have to be incorporated at higher temps, creating an extra step in making the room spray. The only one I wouldn't recommened is the straight up Optiphen, as it works only for bacteria, and not for yeast and fungus. There are other options for Optiphen now though, the ND and a few others that cover all bases. Happy reading!!!
  18. Alcohol is supposed to be self preserving at 21% I believe, so unless you know the dilution of the witch hazel to alcohol, I'd use a preservative to be safe. All those little airborn particles is just begging to get in the eyes!
  19. Yup.. and ours isn't straight witch hazel, it's cut with alcohol. Wish I could help you more!
  20. Do a search for Almost Hell and you'll know everything you need. (I'm really not being a smartass, that's just what many people call them, and you'll get real feedback using that search term).

  22. No honey, it was on my list of things to do, but I haven't got to it yet! I'm sorry! Glad you like the new avatar!
  23. Well, I don't know how it warms, other than you make the product without water, and when water gets in contact with it, it warms. Biore uses this system in it's warming face masks.
