  2. We had hits on our Business Discover Card. Last month I thought it was a fluke, but then again the other business card for that Discover account was hit yesterday. Luckily Discover fraud unit works fast and declined all the activity since it was not our typical spending.
  3. I noticed the label too! I came across an old container of lotion yesterday and had nice thoughts. Nice job TLC. Looks beautiful.
  4. I've tried both and prefer Peak. I was trying to find suppliers closer to home, I'm realizing that I will have to keep using Peak for some of my scents (even though they are clear across the country from me).
  5. As a customer, it wouldn't matter to me. Scent and the overall quality look of the candle are important as a "first impression." I have double & single wicked candles and enjoy them both.
  6. I think it's pretty, but the first thought is whether the etching compromises the glass.
  7. I tried a few and bought the Chestnuts & Brown Sugar (I think that's what it's called) that was a bit hit apparently on this board, and while it did throw in my wax, NO ONE bought it. Therefore, not a supplier for me. I tend to stick with suppliers where I can get more than one scent from them.
  8. Not a favorite scent of mine, but it was always a good seller.
  9. I know Candles & Supplies used to carry a few "rain" scents that may be more interesting to you. I don't care for florals either, but they had a China Rain, I think that was not so "rosey."
  10. I'm guessing the frustration here is simply the overload of unnecessary explanations. If you just want to test your wick with plain wax, go ahead. But then you will have to test with dye and then again with FO and then again with UV inhibitor, why not streamline the process? I know there are people whose nature it is to simply over process EVERYTHING they do, and for them, I am jealous they have an infinite amount of time and money to spend doing all of these additional steps, but acknowledge that is simply the way they do everything in their life. I am not saying to skip steps, I'm just advising you to make better use of your time. And, as mentioned, most suppliers have a wick guide. When I first started I used the wick suggestions on Candles & Supplies and went from there. Their suggestions were based on unscented, plain wax. So, during this debate, how did your candle burn?
  11. Many years ago I sold Party Lite, and I remember at a meeting they explained that the wax was "whipped" to produce the creamy look and the ability to liquify. I didn't know much about candles then. Just that I liked to burn them.
  12. I used to use C&S for wax and various supplies, but found other suppliers had better quality, etc. I'm restarting my business and will test Candlewic since they are reasonably close to me. Good luck in your endeavor.
  13. I prefer the white label, because it is more consistent with your tarts. Any possible way you could get labels in that type of background, as I like the shading. Is it blue? At least on my monitor it is.
  14. You can decide if you are happy with the HT of your candles. It's your product. You know what you like. You know what your product should be like. There are some candle makers who want a super strong scent, where others want a lighter scent. I personally prefer to have a HT where it lingers into other areas of the house, but then again, placement of a candle is everything in this house.
  15. In my area that's not a bad price for a 2 day event, but I agree with Deb that only if it's an established show, etc.
  16. I had a problem years ago and called the supplier and they said, what do you expect, they are made in China or Japan (can't remember). I stopped using that supplier.
  17. Chiptooth, I think you would personally do better financially by offering your services for the bubble party. Parents are always looking for new ideas for birthday parties, and young girls having their friends over, etc. I would explore that idea. I did a soap demo on glycerin for my niece's class and I had 9 mothers call me to see if I could do at home parties.
  18. Whenever I was swamped, the last place I would be seen was on message boards. No time with a full time job, and a steady candle business. I am online now, because I'm on a candle making hiatus.
  19. Given the type of jar, I would like to see a Kraft label, especially given your graphic choices.
  20. I'm in Delaware too. (Wilmington). My first kit came from AC Moore, but when I started to understand what I was doing I went to Candles & Supplies. While they are closer, they are a bit higher in price and their fragrance oils are "hit or miss" but a good place to start. If your wife finds she likes candle making, she'll try different companies to find the fragrance oils she likes best. Feel free to PM me with other area suggestions.
  21. Sorry Jack, I must have been on two sites at once. But check the spelling consistency of goats milk in your soap section. And no reason to be on the defensive.
  22. I think your site is visually pleasing, but your facts are wrong. I find some grammatical errors that should be fixed. If you are going to have a business, be prepared for people to sing your praises AND to not think your product is as good as you do. It's business, not personal. I also think your votives need to have a repour, as well as your tarts to provide a flat surface, and would help qualify your pricing. Those little extra steps will keep your product as appealing (visually) as your website. Good luck with your endeavor.
