Hi all....I was looking for some tarts that last longer than a day lol. I've tried Scentsy (terrible), Yankee, and Walmart (which seems to be the best of the three) but I'm still not satisfied with their life span. What's the average life span of a tart and what brands seem to be the best? Thanks in advance.

It is funny that you mention this...I orginally freezed mine because that is what I read to do, but didn't realize it was for the harder waxes, so that is why I was having such a hard time cutting my wax! And yes, the plastic pulls right off when you freeze it, BUT it is near impossible to cut until it thaws out... Once it DID thaw, I just cut it with a large knife (soooo easy!). I laid it on the counter with an overhang and cut from that overhang. I am actually only cutting small amounts off though, so for a large scale, I'd say the wire thing is best!

Pam...lol. I guess my terminology may be off, it is not exactly that soft! It is just not the kind you can freeze and then break up... The wire thing sounds good though, I'll have to figure that one out. And Steve, ha ha, my husband already laughs at me when I try breaking up my harder waxes...I can just see his reaction when I try to bend it! He'd be laughing his butt off! Just wondering how you all cut your soft waxes? I have a slab of J223, and I had no idea it would be so hard to cut! Wondering if there are any tricks of the trade out there! Thanks...

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question...but I have the Pillar blend and J223. Can I mix those for tarts and if so, what is a good ratio?

I got some wax in a starter kit for pillars...IGI-4625. Will that work for tarts? Cause I am probably not going to make too many more pillars?

I am new to candle making and I don't think anyone would go into the business knowing how much you actually have to spend to MAKE money (I would greatly stress that)! I have been greatly deterred in the past month because I thought it would be a "cheap way" to make money on something I enjoy...couldn't be further from the truth! Now it's more on the hobby side but maybe :rolleyes2 I'll try a business later type of thing...lol! And then, there's the wicking issue! What a pain in the butt!!!! Once they realize how hard THAT is, they will go in another direction and probably not the candle one either. I think a candle making class would be fun and I personally don't feel it would take away from your sales...and I say that from a student's point of view because I don't consider myself a chandler just yet! I think, as others have said, they will have much more respect for the products you make! And continue to buy from you or become a new customer! Good lucK!

Thanks for the tip...I really liked the dye blocks, too. But, what do you use to shave it? I am just using this tiny little grater I had on hand.

My son uses Epiduo...it took a long time to work but it was the ONLY thing to work on him. I never let him try Accutane with all the media and warnings surrounding it. And he had really bad acne, not just the normal teenage acne. Has she tried that? As far as the redness, he still has it and I think only a chemical peel or laser will remove it completely. I feel for these teens...I had it as a teenager and it was terrible! Such a curse!

I am testing one of my wickless candles right now and am noticeing the chemical smell from the liquid dye I used. I got it from CS...red dye in Brown Sugar and Fig. Does anyone else use these dyes and do ALL liquid dyes smell like this? Don't think I'll be using anymore of it! I really liked the dye blocks I got but the only problem I have with them is if you decide to make another batch, your color will not always be the same because you can't measure it. What do you all do about this? Does anyone use the blocks? What is your dye of choice I guess it what I'm asking or the pros and cons? Thanks....
