  1. I too love GL and I also use the 70/30 wax from them. Great customer service too.
  2. They are all beautiful! I'd love to learn to carve but haven't looked into it yet. Great work!
  3. For Olive Blossom....what color do you all make this scent? TIA
  4. Katie, what wax do you use? I think I'm gonna order the sampler, any must haves? Thanks so much, Dee
  5. I tried the GL dogwood and it is strong! I used GL 70/30 wax and it burned great. My b/f didn't like it at all and it isn't a fav. of mine but I dont care for florals. But its strong ht!
  6. I have never ordered from them and the prices are high! But I'm almost tempted to try a few samples just because of the price. Are they worth it? Heres a few that caught my eye...apache tears, blackberry butter cookie, canyon De something (cant remember) Cin. baklava, dazzle, ethereal daydreams, good lookin cowboy and kai-halulu. Anyone try any of these? The names are interesting and the descriptions are great. Any comments?
  7. thanks for the suggestions and comments everyone! I've made a lot of the shell canes but never one with writing. I will try placing the decal down some on the next one. It's hard to see in the photo, but the decal is not right at the top. I cut the pic a little close. I use different dolphins on the reg. canes, that one I found on my label disc, nice surprise! Once again, thanks all!
  8. I love it! It looks so professional and I'd love to be able to do that. My dream now is....I WANT A POTTERS WHEEL...but probably won't ever have one. Do you take ceramics? Great job!
  9. I think its very pretty, love the colors! It's springy to me too.
  10. This was an order I had, I'm not good at pics, but tell me what you think? It was first for me using the water decal fro writing on the cane.
  11. GL Antahallia Vanilla is a good one, I've had vanilla haters like this one. It has a good throw also. But it will turn a little brown also. Just thought I'd throw that in even tho it isn't the vanilla your talking about. But its a keeper!
  12. For Leather & Lace? I was thinking a smoke color but thought I'd get some ideas from you guys here. TIA....
  13. I tried them in GL 70/30 and liked the CD and ECO much better. I get a better scent throw also with the other two.
  14. I have no advice for you because I am still pretty new to candles, but this sounds so interesting! Please let us know how it all turns out and what method worked. Some of these people on here have such great advice and seem so knowledgable about wax and how it all works. GOOD LUCK (keep us posted)
  15. Do any of you use these oils? I have a few of them and I really like them, but they are so high priced! I don't really see that much of a difference. Any comments on this?
  16. I am also tall...my b/f had made some of those horses out of 2x4's for himself, but I took them over! They were just the right height for me. I put an old cafeteria type table across them, and the edges that stuck out from the horses, I use to hang things on, like towels and whatever. Also the folded up legs of the table hold a roll of paper towels! Worked perfectly...Just right
  17. Gorgeous! But that doesn't surprise me. Are the flowers put on like you do the seagrass on the shell canes? I tried orbs only once and with no success, but want to try it again. Keep posted girlfriend...you are my mentor!
  18. Sounds like a good time! Never been to one of these but its close enough for me to make it, keep us posted. I am really interested in joining in.
  19. I don't have a regular piller wax that I use, so I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on these. Candlewic 4144 & 4045EP, I get my 5055 there and I'm thinking of trying 4144, its cheaper that the 4045. Anyone use it? And the J50 is on sale if anyone cares!
  20. What did you use for the flowers? Dried or silk or painted on, they are beautiful!
  21. I'm playing around with a single heart mold. I used an empty peanut can and it fits perfect but I don't know if it will hold up to the wax because its cardboard on the outside, foil lined on the inside. But around the top and bottom it has tin to hold the shape. It's a bit short so I'm going to hot glue some type of handles, wish me luck! If it works I'll let you know.
  22. I just tried a single heart mold and tried to embed a few petals and leaves with the ice cube method and it was pretty difficult to keep them in place. It's cooling now and I wont know the results til I come home from work tonight. But I think tomorrow I'm gonna try the chuck method that Donita said. And then I'm gonna try one putting flowers on the outside. I have the next 4 days off so I'm gonna try some new stuff. But good luck to you!
  23. She wants to add rose petals and I thhink she wants to know how to keep them in place. I thought of this idea once too but didn't know how to keep the roses there either.
  24. I might not have said that right, lol. Cuz I was talking about the holes first. sorry...But I do the pouring, swishing, tilting and then sset it on a tilt to cool a little, then pour again and blah blah blah....When I get to the last layer to be poured, I stand the mold up and fill to the top. Then after a while poke the holes, but I didn't check on them like you do. I will do that. When all of that is done, then at the very end you do a re pour to fill back up to the top, right? I gotta go to work now..hate it...but I'll check this when I get home tonight. Thanks so much for all your help.
  25. You wait until it has formed a skin on top and becomes a little solid? Then poke the holes, is that right? Then you do a re pour after it is set up? So you pour, tilt and wait a few...hold the mold upright and pour another layer and then tilt again and wait, am I doing this right?
