    GL FO's

I use the 70/30 and I'd love to try the fireplace, I see BC also has fireplace. Does anyone know if they are similar? I need something from BC and hate to order from the two places. But, on the other hand, I can find more to order from GL, OH NO!!!
  2. I was having that problem with J50 also. Coming away from the jar and all kinds of air and wet spots, horrible looking candles, but great scent throw. I finally got so fed up I switched to GL 70/30. I put the two together and get a better looking candle with great throw. Wonder what happened!
  3. I always put a dash of cinnamon on my hot choc. mugs topped with whipped wax, no problem here!
  4. Thanks guys! I did it in red. But me I thought of snow, white. But I love the snow. But the red won out!
  5. What color do you all think of for Christmas Memories? I can't decide! HELP ME.....Please....TIA
  6. bumping this for some wick suggestions. I am using the Eco's, but I think I could be getting a better hot throw.
  7. Does anyone have any opinions of these oils? They are a bit higher priced, but are they worth it? TIA
  8. I just started making these for Xmas and everyone just loves them! My questions is to those of you who make a lot of these, whats a good amount to mix up at one time to cure. Like if you make 4oz of beads, how much FO do you add? And is 4oz a good amount to start with? They are just to cute and I love making them. TIA
  9. Tia, I want to try some CD wicks, I was thinking 6-10 (size) would that about cover it? I use 4oz, 8oz & 16oz jars. What size are you using? I use a straight sided salsa jar. Thanks for helping! Dee
  10. I looked at that rose piller on e-bay several times, but they said it was kinda hard to get out of the mold, did you find that to be true? I haven't worked with molds all that much. But I love that mold! Great job!
  11. Ry...what wicks do you use with this wax? Just curious, I am presently using ECO's but I've tried Zinc and CD's also. Whats your fav?
  12. Mothers Day and Easter was good, I made some easter eggs in nice pastel colors and for Mothers day I did some candle gift baskets. HAH
  13. I need a good pine, Xmas tree scent. Is BCN's good? They sent me a sample of Nutty Taffy Apple and I love it, so I was going to order some, but I need Pine and I had MSC b4. Anyone know?
  14. Yes, I have a case from this batch and I did notice a difference. I had a few wet spots, which I had none with the other batch. But not bad....I was using J50 and the wet spots were horrible for me. And I do get a tiny bit of a sink hole by the wick and noticed a little bit of shrinkage also. I tried the sticky stuff and didn't see much of a difference. I e mailed them and they told me to add 1oz pp of wax of my J50 to it. So I have 2 candles cooling right now that I tried the J50 with. I only used sticky stuff once, so I am going to give it another try. HTH But I did like the first batch better.
  15. Tell me if this is right....3# wax and 3% mico would be 48oz of wax, 1.44oz of mico. subtract 1.44 from 48 = 46.56 wax and 1.44 mico. Is this correct? Maybe? Maybe the light is coming on
  16. Thanks all, but I'm not so concerned about the FO, I pretty much have that down. Heres an example of what I'm trying to figure. Making canes....add 3%mico to 1# of wax. Comes out to be .5oz mico (1/2oz) Right so far? So if I use 3# of wax do I add 1 1/2 oz of mico? And still use 3#'s wax? Or subtract the 1 1/2 mico from the 3#, or is it 1 1/2oz at all? Thats what I'm trying to learn. Hope I'm explaining this right. But that light just hasn't come on in my head yet. Old age, maybe!
  17. I always use 1oz or more in my candles, but what I'm not getting is...if a recipe calls for just say 2% of a certain additive in 1# of wax. So you would take 16 x .02= .32 but how much is that? Is that grams? The answer is what I'm not understanding, I guess.
  18. Doesnt' someone know the answer to this question? I'm sure a lot of us would like to know or maybe I'm the only math idiot here, could be! I know I was doing it wrong, but don't know how to do it right! HELP
  19. I dont have that but I sure would like to have it also! I posted a question here how to do the math and no one answered yet. The %'s confuse me and I'd like to know how to figure it out. So if you know maybe you could help me? TIA
  20. I think its a good idea, and if you make halloween ornies too. I'm going to check the stores.
  21. I was reading all the advice to newbies, and I still consider myself a newbie. Still learning something everyday. So what is a simple way to figure out percentage? I am not good with math and probably not alone, so when a formula says add 1% to your wax, what is the formula? And is 1% fo to 1#wax 5%? I think a lot of newbies need to understand this, but I can't explain it, I'm sure many of you can tho. So please help us out! TIA
  22. What type of wax are you using? Wet spots are a real pain in the butt...I switched waxes and tested all over again just to minimize them . I was using J50 and switched to GL 70/30. But I have only been making candles for 2 yrs and am no pro..by far! I'm learning everyday and going insane everyday! So welcome to the world of insanity and have fun!
  23. Is there an additive that makes wax more white? Like doing pine cones...I'd like the wax to be whiter and I don't have any white dye. TIA
  24. I don't know about the fo, but I used J50 for a year and just recently switched to GL70/30, because the wet spots in the J50 was just awful no matter what I did. But I always used 1oz pp and the scent throw was awesome. I liked that about that wax and it burned good but they were ugly candles, lol....I tried everything too.
