  1. Hi again! Does anyone use astorlite J50 container wax? And if so...do you like it? It's a soft wax and seems to me like a soy or something. This is the first time I've used it and it seems hard to work with. You people are so helpful, I'm off work today and want to make candles, let me know about this wax, thanks!
  2. Hi, it's me again. I got a presto pot and I love it, but how do you people measure out how much wax to use? I keep some wax in the pot at all times, take out what I think is right, but then how do you judge scent? Still having wicking problems also. Some one needs to explain all those letters and numbers you all use. I have so much to learn, but I'm hooked on candle making now. I've made some pretty good ones, and some pretty ugly ones! I love this site, thanks for all the help.:highfive:
  3. I have tried 51-32-18Z and CD-6 german tabbed coreless wick. I don't understand all of these numbers, boy do I have a lot to learn, lol
  4. a lot of my candle wicks go to the side when burning, I'm new and I can't figure out why this is happening. I make sure the wick is centered, but as they burn they lean to one side, what is my problem?
  5. Can you make all container candles with votive wax? Or do you need container wax?
  6. Hi all, I'm new. I've made a few candles and they turned out ok, but I'm learning that you people use all types of waxes, I have used pretty much the same wax for all my candles. Any advice...sometimes I get that mushroom on the wick. Does that mean the wick is the wrong size? What are all those abbreciations and where can I find out what they mean. Sorry that I'm being so confussed here, lol.
  7. I'm new here and don't know where to go to post a new question, dah! Can someone please tell me?
  8. I'm new here and I can't figure out how to post, lmao! Do you always use different waxes for different projects? Like votives and tarts?
  9. I have made several candles in a coke glass, shaped like ahh..bigger on the top and then narrows down toward the bottom. I put the whipped wax on top to look like foam, it burns fine until it gets to the narrow part of the glass. It smokes...I'm thinking I need a smaller wick, is this right?
  10. I'm new to this, but I tried a chunk candle in a bowl type container and it worked!
  11. if you use a coke glass for candles, its bigger on the top and then narrows, what is the best size wick to use so it wont smoke?:rolleyes2
  12. thanks, I have made a few candles using the double boil and it takes so long and then once u make a candle you have to start all over...melting. I have made some cute sundeas with the ice cream on top. I tried to make a pillar candle with a different color on the top, sort of in the middle. I used a tart candle but it melted and had no contrast, how do you do that?
  13. Hi all, I am new here and new to candle making, but I love this site. I'm thinking about getting a presto pot, any suggestions?
