  1. Since it was my first I couldn't wait to see it, that always happens to me. But it seems to have a lot of frosting towards the top and not so much at the bottom. I think the bottom looks better, but I'm not sure why that happened, maybe because when you do the first pour, there isn't as much wax? I'm just guessing. Next time I will be more patient and just let it cool! Thanks scented and everyone else!
  2. I used 4045 wax that I had here, heated it to 160 and added FO and a tiny bit of blue. Cooled it to 150, poured a little bit of wax into the mold, just room temp, sloshed it around a bit and let it set on a slant for a while. Just til the edges started to harden, from that point I was clueless, but this is what I did....added a little more blue to the wax and poured it at 150 and tilted the mold in the opposite direction. I just kept going that way, adding more blue each pour until it was full. Then set it up straight and let it cool. I put in the fridge because I couldn't wait to see what it looked like. I think I had to much frosting, I'm not sure but I'm gonna try again. Thank you for the compliment tho.
  3. Well, the photo is almost as bad as the candle. Where did I go wrong? I WILL get better...this is with 4045 wax, 2T stearic scented seabreeze. It's ugly but I'm learning. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks
  4. Someone has a chart where you put in the tyype of wax and the size of container or pillar and it gives you wick recommendations, does anyone know that site? I cant find it anywhere and I've used it a million times. TIA
  5. Beautiful! As usual, your work is great and how have you been? Nice pic also.
  6. I just recently started using 16oz salsa jars, I only used 8oz before, same jar. I use J50 or GL70/30 wax. It seems that as my 16oz jars burn, about 1/2 way down, the wick seems to pull to one side. I'm getting a good burn, nice melt pool but when I blow it out and then re lite the wick is no longer centered, whats with that? I use glue dots to secure the wick and pull them tight and hold them with craft sticks and clothes pins until cooled. I don't get it! Any advice? TIA
  7. turned out pretty, especially for a first. I've yet to try them, but I'm planning on it soon.
  8. Does anyone know about this? If they are not exactly the same can you get in trouble? I dont want that! And by the way....The Steelers ar NOT my team, I'm a browns fan. Thanks for looking and I'm glad you like them.
  9. I thought they had to be pretty much exactly like the real thing. The Pitts helmet has steelers printed on them and a grey ring around the white circle. The real ones that is. So I thought I was safe, becasue they are not exact. But I only sold them to my friends in my very small town here. So if they are not exact, can I still be in trouble? Thanks for bringing that up.
  10. Welcome! I'm still learning a lot every day. Take notes of everything you do and I mean everything. It's very helpful when you finally hit on something good, then you can read your notes to see what you did. Have fun and good luck!
  11. Thanks all....I am a Browns fan and I hated making the Steelers.l....BUT lots of steelers fans here. I did make some browns, green bay and giants. They sold good over christmas now I've got to get into some butterflies and stuff. Thanks for looking!
  12. Those look goodd! I like the colors and so much want to try them. What wax did you use? Very good job.
  13. I hope you can see these better, GAWD I'm awful at this! If you can see them, let me know what u think!
  14. I am clueless on posted pics, lets see how this works after and hour of trying, lol!
  15. I see where most of you are using 1343 for rustics. Is that the IGI 1343 that BCN has? I want to try my hand at these, using a 3 or 3.5" mold, where is a good place to start with the wick? Hopefully its one that I have. But I have to order the wax and I will order wicks at the same time, if I need to. I see where some use the LX. I have CD, ECO and Zinc and I think CDN (I don't even remember what those were for) Will any of those work as starters? Thanks so much.....I hope to have these perfected by next Christmas!
  16. About the silver....I put the FO in my jar and just a little black dye on a tooth pick and swirl it in the FO, add the beads and stir. It looks pretty much like a silver color, if I don't have enough color, I do the toothpick again right in the beads. If you get to much black you'll get more grey looking color.
  17. All I can say is I"M SCARED!! I'd love to try to make soap and have thought about it for a while, but it seems a bit scarry to me. Of course candle making scared me at first too. Maybe in the near future I'll give it a try. How did you all get started, are their kits like for candles? I'm gonna keep reading for now.
  18. Does anyone know if these soaps work in hard water, or is there an additive or something special you can do to get a good hard water soap? Just curious!
  19. That cookie cutter place on line has tons of ideas, I ordered Xmas ones and they are pretty good, a bit on the flimsy side, so you might want to order more than 1 of each that you like. I'm going to do hearts & shamrocks and another good seller and still is....football helmets! Of course I had to do some painting on them, but they were cute and sold like hot cakes! Like Ohio State I made silver beads and then used red acrylic paint and painted OSU on them. A red stripe around the edge and done! I have orders for more, since OSU is doing good. Good Luck!
  20. I have played around with pillars but I want to add these to my list of things to conquere for this year. I made a few palm pillars and just plain pillars trying a few types of waxes. But my questions are....what pillar wax seems to be a favorite and what wicks? By next Christmas I want to be making rustics and mottles, but I want to start off simple. Theres so many waxes out there and so little money to waste, any suggestions would be helpful. Anyone try Pillar of Bliss wax? I'm in Ohio, so I'm looking for close shipping. Thank you all so much...Happy New Year
  21. I use the water slide decals and after I got used to using them, they work fine....in color. But it takes some practice. And I spray them with Krylon after the printing.
  22. Beautiful candle Donita! Love the color....Happy New Year too
  23. Has anyone tried the aroma pearls from GL? I used BC aroma beads and then got 5# of GL aroma pearls and they would not soak up the fo & color! They also look bigger and didn't melt down as nice for the ornies. Anyone else find this to be true? Just curious, anyway I didn't like them at all! Any comments?
  24. I have the acrylic paint, I wonder if you could spray a sealer over it? Or paint clear mod podge over it. Anyone try this? Most of it stays on, only around the edges it comes off with the wrapping. Anyone have a suggestion? TIA
