  1. I don't put warning or ingredient labels on my CP soaps unless I use peanut oil, and then it's mainly just because of allergic reactions. But all the rest of my B&B I label according to FDA rules and regulations. HTH a little..
  2. That's my thoughts exactly. I have this cutter from FCS (only I bought it 3 years ago and it was only $70.00) and I cannot tell you the time, energy and MONEY it has saved me.. I LOVE it and would not do without it ever!! lol I tried everything from the mitre box cutters, to the wire in a slab type of cutter, and nothing cut them as well as this cutter.
  3. The only time I've been able to sell anything like that is when I'm pouring Christmas scents and do that.. I name it "Christmas Surprise" and tell the customer it's a one of a kind and can't be duplicated. (mainly because I forget what scents are in there! lol) But when I do it like that I sell them pretty well.
  4. Try Old Will Knot from ebay. Not sure his user ID or anything but he has great scales at decent prices. I have one of his that weighs up to 13 lbs. For candles I find that is sufficient, but for my soaping I'm thinking I need a bigger one. HTH
  5. Wow, all you guys are so busy!! Yesterday I made a coke glass with ice cubes, (gel) made some mp soap to test KY's non-discoloring vanilla (yes, it works!!) and cut up 96lbs of mp soap for an order I have, broke up 2 cases of each wax I use to make some pillars, containers, votives and carvings, made 2 baby bottle candles, and about 5 lbs of melts.. So mostly all I did was prep work. The productive work will happen this weekend..
  6. I would start with the flat braids. Depending on the scent and how I want the particular pillar to burn I use either a 24fb or a 30fb for my 3x6's. HTH
  7. Well, to me it smelled just exactly like my brother's basement did when he would smoke his pot when he got sick with cancer, and "back in the day" I can absolutely remember that smell, and yep, it was right there in that bottle.. So when I say "dead on" I mean that is what the pot that I have been around smells like. Maybe the pot you have been around smells differently??
  8. For anybody that may be interested, just wanted you all to know that OOB this scent is DEAD ON!! lol I was in Peaks today and while talking to Alan, he had some scents spread on the counter so I was casually sniffing the ones I haven't tried yet, and came upon that one.. LOL Well, after sniffing that one it started a whole new topic of conversation about concerts, but just wanted you to know, if you've been looking for a good Mary Jane scent I'm sure this is it. Of course I haven't put it in wax, but like I said, OOB it really is dead on!! HTH someone..
  9. If you want a true one pour votive wax, the IGI 4761 does not need a repour, but it makes an ugly (imo) votive. It is a paraffin votive blend, and needs to be poured hot not to get jumplines. This is what I used before I discovered the 4794 votive blend. Yes, the 4794 does need a repour, but I only ever need one repour and they are nice and smooth and you can never tell that there was a repour involved. Just follow the basic repour "directions" and you'll be fine. HTH-
  10. I love them.. And for "cheap" champagne, that Andre, Cold Duck is pretty good too!! lol
  11. I agree. There just isn't enough time to do all the testing it takes to switch waxes right now. Not RIGHT BEFORE the busy season hits.. I will be getting all my waxes shipped in AGAIN, :undecided even though I'm local, because there just isn't time to test new waxes for me right now, and I'm comfortable with the waxes I've been using and so are my customers.
  12. My favorite wax is probably the 4625 beause of the ease of use for a quick and simple pillar. Second favorite being the 1343 for the versitility of being able to do just about anything with this wax with the correct additives in the correct amounts.
  13. They were one of the first suppliers I ever ordered from when I first started out, and I still to this day usually order on a monthly basis!! Love thier oils, and yes everyone is right, CHRISTMAS SPLENDOR is AWESOME.. I change the name to just Splendor after Christmas and it sells all year round.
  14. No right or wrong other than some FO's are heavier than others, like some vanilla's etc... So if you are going by volume instead of weight, you may have more than an ounce per lb.. But if it works for you, and what you've been doing, and it's consistent, then I say, NO it's not "wrong"!!
  15. How about pink?? lmao j/k Orange clove I would make either a rusty orange or a brown color.
  16. Yes, you can use all of those in CP..
  17. Just a few suggestions. Yes that's an okay recipe, but you might want to try a more basic one for your first try. The reason I say this, is because beeswax, honey and milk will all heat up your soap rather quickly and if it overheats you could get the alien brain look going on, or worse, seperation. Personally I would avoid these 3 ingredients until you are a bit more comfortable with making soap.. Other than that, good luck, and most of all be safe and HAVE FUN!! Oh and yes you "can" use your crock for food after making soap in it as long as it's washed very well, but after making soap for a while you will get some etching from the lye in it and then I'd be leary about using it. Again if it were me, I'd just find one at like a second hand store and dedicate that to soap only. HTH and have fun!!
  18. Yeah, I'd say that's not that bad either. Because if you figure "business days" that's actually only 5 days, which is about average for just about any company that is not "local" to you. BTW-I hate waiting too. That's why I'm glad Peak IS local to me.. (of course it doesn't do any good when they are OUT of wax!! lol)
  19. I use 1343 with a bit of micro wax in it. (about an ounce per pound, but even straight works fine) HTH
  20. I've bought from them a couple times, and never had a problem with thier service or thier products. I never tried calling them though. I placed my order and I think it took like 5 days to get the order to me, but when I have stuff shipped in, that's usual.. HTH a little. Good luck.
  21. What scent is it? I'm terrible at names, but that is a really nice soap!! I wouldn't mind getting that in my trick or treat bag!! lol
  22. I was just gonna say the same thing. My hub rigged me up some .25 guage wire with blocks on the end of them to cut my slab soap with. Works GREAT! I've been meaning to try the whipped soap, but my "to do" list is about 5 pages long right now, so it's going on the end of the list!! lol
  23. The scallop mold wont work very well, you need a star mold. Either tapered or not, but def. a star mold. the reason, is on a star mold the edges are sharp on your core candle, and you need that because after dipping them 20-25 times, they are no longer sharp, but rather dull and rounded, and to use the scallop I would think the edges would disappear completely after all the dipping. Good luck, and it def takes practice to get good at the cut n curl. I've been doing the cnc for about 9 months now, and still need lots of practice.
  24. NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! LOL You can't do that to us right before the busy season!! lol I HATE having wax shipped in, and if you guys discontinue all those waxes, I'll have to have them shipped!! Gosh dang it!! lol
  25. Henry, what temp are you pouring at? Maybe pour a little hotter, and you should be able to get a nice smooth clean finish with it. I also (even though I know this is a preblend wax) add 1/8 teaspoon of vybar per lb. to help alleviate any pock marks pouring at the higher temp might cause, and I've never had a problem.. HTH
