  1. I use many, but on this particular soap, for the green I used Emerald Green mica from BeScented, For the purple, I used a combination of Grape Nehi, Tempest (both from Mad Oils) and Purple Vibrance from Nurture's. I find with my purple's I get a truer purple color when I mix, and that way it doesn't go grey - and I don't have to use as much when I mix, so bonus.
  2. That's so pretty!! I love it! I just bought a fruit loops/cheerios mold - now I have to get the scent to pour it. LOL Do you know if the scent holds up in CP and does it discolor much? I'm thinking a white base with multi-colored embedded loops to mimic a bowl of cereal...
  3. Those are awesome. I'm such a mold hog. I have so many, I can't keep track. And I don't have room, or I would be getting some!
  4. Oh and PS - if you ever get tired of that mold, you have a buyer. Just sayin'...
  5. Wow - umm, if they don't WANT to sell the water jacketed melter, WHY have it available for purchase? I mean really? That's ridiculous!! I'm glad the end came out to a satisfactory conclusion, but sheesh, what a rigamaroll!!
  6. It smells really good. Fruit Slices is one of my favorites.
  7. Very pretty! Anytime I get things from China, it usually takes about a month to get to me. I can't wait for you to get yours and show us what you make.
  8. The cut only looks like a hanger swirl. But, I know what to do next time. Here it is - the cut bars, and what the bottom of the log looked like before cutting.
  9. I just want to make something clear - That last post with the green and pink swirl is not my soap. That's what I wanted my soap to look like, but I didn't read any instructions until after I made mine. The only "mistake" I made that I can tell after reading the instructions is not using a big enough chop-stick.
  10. These are Essential Depot molds w/basket and I used dividers by Great Soap Shop, that are especially made for these molds. I tried to make this type of soap, but I did it wrong, so will try again some other time. This is the first "successful" mantra swirl I've ever done, so I'm hoping the inside isn't screwed up.
  11. Well, this is not what I wanted, but I got a decent mantra. I wanted it to be all swirly like everyone is doing these days. Thought I could do it without reading or seeing the instructions. Umm, nope. LOL I'm not displeased, I like it, and it smells good too. Now we'll see if I can cut it without screwing it up. I only have a multi-bar cutter but want to cut these about 2.5 inch width, across the top then in inch along the side. (Hope I'm explaining that right) so you can see the mantra in every bar, and not just on top. Anyway, here it is.
  12. So, I am doing a challenge soap today. Not in a challenge, just challenging myself, but love participating in challenges. So I added a little poll (at least I think I did) Would you all like to see/participate in a challenge just for the fun of it? Yes, no or maybe? Let me know!
  13. Mixing scents is one of my favorite things to do. I just love it.
  14. I may be the odd one out, but I love the smell of citronella . LOL I've also heard of lemoncello but only as a sherbert type dessert. LOL But know what it can smell like from that and think it would be an awesome summer scent!
  15. Man, I would so love to go... But that is the weekend (I think) my friend is coming here. Maybe next time the convention happens I'll go. It's a great price for a convention...
  16. Your candles are so gorgeous! I love looking at them!
  17. Vanilla Lace - the other two just sound too heavy for summer (never smelled them so maybe not, but just the sound of them, would make me think fall/winter scent, not spring/summer) I LOVE floral berry mixes. I have one from I believe it was AH/RE (I'll have to look) that is a Raspberry Violet and it smells wonderful. Light floral, heavier (but not too heavy) berry - the mix is divine. I love citrus scents in summer too, anything lime, grapefruit and/or orange would be good. I think you are on the right track. I would probably add a water/spa type scent as well. Like an Ocean, or a dancing water (cool water) type scent also. JMO
  18. Thank you! Today is the first real day that I've felt good from the time I woke up until now in over a month.
  19. So I WILL be making soap this weekend, even if it is just one batch. Ever since I made up all that masterbatch, and then split it out into 7 smaller ready to go batches, I have not been able to do anything. However, I have something in mind, and I hope it works out, but am not sure. Gonna do it anyway and see. Also have to finish "masterbatching" my oil/micas into the squeeze bottles. it's working out better than expected, but I haven't used any to see if it's gonna work out in the long run. Will try that out this weekend as well. I'm also waiting for some Vanulay molds to come in. I probably can't do much with those until next weekend but I might get lucky. Also, am going to finally clean this house from top to bottom. That will probably take ALL day tomorrow, but come hell or highwater IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. lol What about y'all? What is everyone else up too?
  20. Pretty much anything berry/fruity or citrus-y - and vanilla's are good year round. And maybe some spa type scents. In the summer, those are the types of scents I like.
  21. I still do this every now and then. Especially on topics I may not have cared about, but now am interested in for whatever reason.
  22. No, that is incorrect. You have to wick for the entire burn of the candle, not just the first burn of the candle. My 3" diameter candles sometimes take 2-3 3 hour burns to reach the sides and start melting down off of the edges. If my candles burned to the edge during the first burn, they would be so hot towards the middle of the candle that they would be incredibly unsafe. You are using pillar standards - you want to burn your pillar for the first time 1 hour for each diameter of the candle in order for it to burn correctly the rest of the way down (assuming it's wicked correctly) Do you mean high end candles that you make? Or high end candles that you purchase? Because quite honestly if I had a 3" diameter candle that burned to the side of the jar in less than 3 hours I'd be afraid to continue to burn it.
  23. I forget you work with beeswax. I'm not sure the bleeding wicks would work with beeswax. Only on my bleeding tapers do I wick to drip, and really not that much, just a few drips here and there. Also, the wick is still wet with the oil based colorant when lit, so they crackle a little. It's an awesome effect. Oh and the first couple of dips it does bleed into the wax slightly, so I do my first 3-5 dips in clear wax, then after those are set a bit, I dip them into the pigmented wax so it doesn't bleed before I'm ready. Also, for the first few dips I dip quicker than I normally would (which is why I dip up to 5 layers before the white), so it doesn't color the wax too much.
