  1. I've only tested a couple, but, yes, I only needed 3% in paraffin.
  2. Agree that ASTM standards say one of the bottom of each. Is it really rust? or perhaps some oil seepage? I've had that happen on a couple of my fragrances.
  3. I pour mine into paper muffin cups; just pull a bit of the paper away from the wax and set fire to the paper. Others that I've seen say "wrap in newspaper and set paper on fire."
  4. I make mine without a wick; think it's safer that way since they do burn with a very high flame.
  5. I'm wondering if these could be made by dipping a filled water balloon into hot wax to make the shell - and then using a tealite - or perhaps turning it into an "electric" candle --
  6. I have some 4 x 4 from another company; they are too large for the single fluted melts (will hold at least 3). I use the 4 x 4 for smaller single melt pieces, and like them for that.
  7. Maybe the tin has some oil residue? Try wiping a few with vinegar before you add the label.
  8. I try to consolidate my "extras" into a couple of boxes. Also, I put empty boxes inside empty boxes, and what I can't hide under the table, I put in my van. I've seen some people label every box, (but that's a bit more organized than I ever manage!)
  9. Can't answer most of your qustions - but I do use CD's in paraffin (4786, 4794, & 1343).
  10. The only things I don't see here are votives & t-lites, neither of which are good sellers for me. I don't know what your "look" is now, but what about introducing a new line, e.g. "spa", "primitive", "all white" - whatever you think might work in your area. Since I sell mostly at craft fairs, I've found that too many items in too many scents can be confusing to customers - maybe reduce instead of adding???
  11. No, one is from palm; the other from animal source.
  12. I found that spring and summer shows in this area are not worth doing, so I just stick to fall shows. Also,- the same as Karen-, melts are what's really hot around here (thank you Scentsy). Hang in there - it takes awhile to build up a following.
  13. You can stop the mottle if you don't like it by adding Vybar to 1343.
  14. Lebermuth has some, but minimum order is high.
  15. Your dipping temperature needs to be higher - I use 160-165.
  16. Thanks - (I should have read the descriptions!)
  17. to Lizzy - which wax is it from Candles & Supplies - I couldn't find anythng on their website under container candles that says "mottling" - TIA
  18. All I can say is WOW! Beautiful work.
  19. thanks for the info about "fuel" smell - and all the recomendatiions for others-
  20. I'm very sensitive to the "fuel" smell from some citruses - Does anyone get this from either Christmas Memories or Spiced Orange? TIA
  21. Have only used 1343 or 4786 for whipped wax; it is important that the wax be level or only a very, very little bit above the rim of the container. especially around the edge (you can pile it up a bit in the center.) Also, was your wick too big, causing the wax to melt so fast that it could not be burned away quickkly enough?
