  1. There's a very tricky thing about trademarks that most people don't understand. When a "mark" is issued it is based up the image itself. It has nothing to do with the actual words, but the way the words look. If you have documentation that you have been using the Name ( ie invoice, tax certs, etc) that will be in your favor.
  2. I wish they would have "real" sales. When i called i was told that they don't have any discounts until you get 25 lbs/ per FO. I like how other like WSP an C&S give discounts at the 5 pound mark.
  3. 1. advertise. Make a good effort and actually do it. 2. Pictures, not slides.. Slides cost too much to show what you actually do. My Pictures show my actual work, not my show pieces. 3. Kick out all the Buy/ Sell. Includes the Wooden roses, bottled fragrances and everything else that isin't handmade. Scenting wooden roses is not handmade. 4. Don't ask for suppliers, anyone who runs a real business, and has worked hard to achieve it will not send you invoices .
  4. i Don't like shows that charge a commission on what i make. Because i generally do more business than other around me. Not a smug thing, but my sales likeability is higher, and i have been at alot of shows where people just sit there, waiting for someone to buy. My booth is more customer oriented, and very pro active. so why should i have to pay more than someone else? Also, My prices tend to be lower than others who sell similar types of products. I make up for my low prices in quanity. JMHO
  5. I am keeping note of all the crazy things people do , if someone ever sues me... i'm gonna say " you're just duplicating the test " Blank" Did..
  6. Use a pretty label on the bag, something with a gold or silver band. Glitter tends to hold attention.. and draws people toward it
  7. Well, if you want any info, i will be more than happy to share it.. i had hoped to learned alot more than i did. quite honestly, was not worth it to me.. 3 of us went and spent the $90 the big beni.. it was the "can we go together" line my Fiance used at a craft show to get my Number! LOL!(8 months ago)
  8. I ask because i met them today at the Mid atlantic Crafter's Expo today, and was completely Surprised. I do alot of shows and have been for 14 years and i had seen them advertise alot but never hear about them from other vendors. I figured this was a good oppertunity, so i asked how many customers attended theirs shows and was told "we don't say how many people aetted our shows because most promotors lie about their attendance"So i asked" well based upon last years numbers, how many people were at (XXXSHOW), was it 3 people or 30,000" And was told " what difference is if it was 3 buyers vs 30,000 who didn't buy?" The woman who was there got very agressive about the whole thing, like it was wrong of me for wanting to know how many people paid to go into the show.. and the comment was made "you'll find out as a vendor" So.. Who had been a vendor at these show's? is it really that secretive? . i personally like to know how many people i might meet so i have enough business cards, and yes, there is a big difference to me, between a show that has 50 people vs, 250,000 people.. both of which i have done.. Tell!Tell!
  9. Well, Still a pallet of 5,000 lbs of palm sitting here, we went thru 25,000 pounds in the last year. mixure of soy parrafin and gel.
  10. Items are often "patented" without alot of research, It all comes from the wording in the patent application. So if no other publishings are found with "XXX", a patent is granted. Trademarking is different and on the use of the word. Trademark is only for the "MARK" itself.. that being the way the word is being used.. ie " Cool Water" as the way it is presented by the perfume manufacture as opposed to say a line of Clothing Called "Cool Water"
  11. I LOVE the look, your layers always come out perfect, incredible. They look awesome!
  12. Wow, That is awesome, I totally love the colors and that swirl is soo nice.
  13. Craft show expo in annapolis,MD? thought it might make a good Get-together spot
  14. Gel wax doesn't really Melt. The viscosity of the gel simply changes into something that is easier to pour. Because of the way that the resin works with the mineral oil.
  15. OK, I will try to say this in small words. Distilled water is from water that has been boiled, the droplets that accumulate form the "distilled water" There are bacteria and mold spores everywhere, and they attach themselves to everything. City water has chorine and floride added to them, the chorine kills bacteria that it comes in contact with. It doesn't matter how you make an item, it's how the item is used. Now, if you live in an area where the water is undrinkable, of course, use bottled water, but it willnot prevent the item from molding, unless you add something to kill the spores
  16. Yes, a single skin cell (or dust as some of you may call it) can cause mold. .what you seem to be missing is that it is not about the enviroment they are in when they are made, but the environment they will be used in. you can heat up the water all you want when they are made, that doesn't change the fact that there is nothing in the water to kill the mold spores that may be present in the air. And, of course, if you keep them closed they will be fine for many years, because you aren't exposing them to the air.
  17. As i was saying.. The problem with distilled water is that it doesn't have any "germ killers" added to it. Distilled water is simply that.. It's the purified water.. which means it doesn't have any resources to attack the germs and mold that are everywhere. Even a single skin cell scratched into a bowl of water can cause mold.
  18. I had mold with 2 of my batches as well.. I love the stuff, and my customers went bonkers over it.. You only hear the bad from customers, never the good. 2 of the 6 gallons i got were bad, i never got any response from ky, except that i "did something wrong"
  19. WOW< congrats>> My Pool requires much more than just adding Chlorine to it. You are so LUCKY. I hae dealing with all the chemicals. We had to add all sorts of anti-alage chemicals to make the pool ready for winter
  20. For the water crystal type, it depends on your tap water supply. If you have good tap water, it has had chorine and floride added to it, therefore, will not mold. I've been selling the water crystal style for years, and only ever had one case of mold, and that was when the customer used well water to "refresh' them. Also, you can add a few drops of "high grade" alchol to help inhibit the mold spores. Mold grows from dust molecules and mold spores, not the water itself. Therefore, the enviroment that the smelly jellys are in are as important as the type of water used in their making
  21. JUstt out of curiosity.. what made him want to turn it upside down? and it wasn't very hot at all he just didn't like the smell (baby powder). It was sort of funny. But I agree with such a large amount of oil it could irritate the skin. I would never put that much oil in a custom scented lotion.
  22. To Edit, on the second phase pour cooler, this will even-out the dip caused by the wick pin.. thus resulting in smooth votives
  23. if you were to assume that .5 oz wax was norm, to triple it would be 1.5, so therefrore the same amount in a gallon of lotion would be 12 ounces of fo in lotion
  24. You CANNOT "triple load wax" and also make it skin safe....The stats of every fragrance co i have come up would agree
